  1. He's on video saying this. What a dipsh*t. Hope this hasn't already been posted, but I still find it funny that the coach would be the one to do/say this. Great move coach
  2. Make an offer. shamb76@houston.rr.com.
  3. Chris Patrick and Wali Muhammed should be good at DE. Certainly Wali, but Patrick may need one more year to really get things going. He is a big kid and should be a real player. Wali has got a motor that doesn't quick. He had a spinal injury that kept him out this year. Tierre Green is the fastest IB we have right now and is also very elusive. Look for him to challege for significant playing time next year. There are others, I'll write more later.
  4. We had 25 scholarships to use this year. We may not be done getting players. In fact a safety prospect from cali will be here this weekend. THe limit on the # of players that can be signed each year is controled by the 85 scholarship limit and the # of transfers and graduations The Big 12 does have tougher limits than many of the other conferences. Especially the non-BCS conferences, but I can't give you really any details as I am not really aware of them It gives us a limit of 1 partial qualifier per year. However, we can offer as many shcolarships as we want to unqualified people (no limit to offering anyone as long as they have signed up with the NCAA clearinghouse) However, no need to waste scholarships. Hope this helps
  5. Well let's get this athlete in here and see what he can do. I've always thougt that for the most part you need to get the best possible athletes in many situations and then sort out their positions. He sounds like a real find. We will also have some others coming in this weekend. I think these are the type that we don't want to let the cat out of the bag too early type. Good Luck to us To hell with all other teams
  6. We've seen names like Rory Johnson, Raymond Williams, Vernon Smith, and Michael McLaughlin. However, Raymond and Vernon (both 4 * players) probably won't come to visit. They have grade problems and almost definately won't make the trip so we don't waste our 56 allowable visits on people that can't make it to the school come registration time. The newest visitor has been confirmed and it's a big one. The rumors are true, and Rocky Hinds will be here this weekend. Let's hope the tunnel walk does to him what it did to the kids last week. He is a great one. The weekend is getting near, so strap on your seatbelts. Let's use this as a thread to talk about the supposed and confirmed visitors for this week. PS There have been reports that Michael McLaughlin loved his visit. Some people saw him down in the Haymarket. We'll see how it goes. Expect us to try to get another 6-8 commits if we can. That gives us a couple of extra to find places for and allows us to replace anyone that gets drafted by the MLB or just doesn't make the grades.
  7. It will be tough to get any of the others in my opinion. I would guess that Darity may be a top candidate for the next commit from Tally. He might like the idea of being part of such a great line. With Schuler from last year, Murtha, Incognito, and Muy this could be a line for the ages. I think Manning the CB will end up at FSU Gallon was more in with Pellini and I don't think it will be as hard for him to turn us down with Pellini gone.

    Murtha

Yes, if we definately land Murtha, we should land in the top 25 in recruiting classes no matter what site you look at. We should be really high on the espn site. Murtha, Brandon Jackson, and Grixby are all top 100 players in the nation.
  9. Rory Johnson is coming this weekend. He is a linebacker that is in the mold of Super Demarrio. He is 4.4 fast and lightning quick. He is coming off an injury, but is another highly rated prospect. Raymond Williams is also coming this week. Probably midweek, and he tore people up N the Army All American game. He is the Ohio football player of the year, and would be a great get. These coaches are really amazing me. This is freakin outrageous

    Murtha

It looks like Murtha has announced his decision late this evening. On a post on a Minnesota board Murtha let the gopher faithful know why he is choosing the Huskers.
  11. Although dissappointing because he is such a talent. We have absolutely no chance with him. He'll be staying in the Southeast.
  12. Santino Panico was a reciever and SS in the Army All-American game and loves the Huskers. He will be visiting Lincoln this weekend. He was also the Gatorade Illinois player of the year. Could be a real catch.
  13. Holy Crap I predicted this three or so days ago.
  14. Callahan is supposedly talking to Brian Toal, a big time Middle LB at his home tonight. I will let you know if I find anything to confirm that. Roland Martin #40 overall player in the nation per Rivals is taking us back into consideration. He is one of the top tackle's in the country. Callahan is trying to decide as to whether or not Delbert Ferguson fits into our new system. All he has to do is say the word an Delbert will commit. It will be interesting to see what happens here. Tom Lemming the ESPN recruiting analyst is good friends with Callahan and is giving a lot of help. Many rumors about Brian Brohm, but I think that is a long shot. Rocky Hinds is a maybe, but would be a great pull. Raymond Williams is still out there and if Ohio State doesn't offer him, he is really up for grabs. One of the recievers from the San Antonio All American game is now interested in us. We are making strides, but really have to close some deals. We also have an Outside LB coming this weekend for an official visit. Rory Johnson is in the mold of Super Demorrio. Very fast and agile. He's coming off an ACL tear, so won't play next year probably, but would be a great addition. That should give y'all something to talk about.
  15. It seems as if all of the coaches that Callahan is hiring are all big time recruiters. They are going to have to be in order to make this recruiting year a success. I'm very interested in seeing what they can get done. They have opened a few doors that were closed so far. We need to really get after it with the RB's, OL's, and QB's.
  16. Callahan should have passed his NCAA recruiting test by Wednesday and will soon after be out to NJ and Florida as well. I would expect the kids from Tallahassee (2 or 4) to commit before the end of the weekend. We are also reportedly in it with Brian Brohm. A highly ranked Pro-style QB. He is still very fast and agile and would be great at the WCO. His brother was a QB that made it to the league, as was his father. This makes it seem as though he would be good at reading the field and the defenses. Like Eric the Red mentioned. Look for some recruits to come out of nowhere. This should be an exciting stretch run.
  17. My guess is Danny Muy offensive center from Tallahassee
  18. He has decommited and commited to Iowa. This not surprising because he was so close to Barney Cotton who is probably gone. Oh well
  19. We will be able to keep the people we have and maybe even DT. However, even with DT we only have one QB in this class, and there is definite risk in losing him to the MLB draft in June. Callahan will go after some of the top notch QB's left out there uncommited and probably even some of the one's that are commited. Some of the top uncommited QB's include Rocky Hinds (from Cali) and Brian Brohm. Both would be wonderful additions. I think he will also be able to pull a top notch RB and some stud OL recruits out of his hat before we are all said and done. It will be a race to the finish, but I think it will be a better race than earlier anticipated.
  20. Their have been several reports saying that Bo will leave the program, and of course their have been several reports that say Bo will stay with the Huskers. I think most people are in agreement that we would like Bo to stay the Defensive Coordinator. However, he seems dare I say, a bit much like a whiner right now. I'm not sure why he though one year as a DC (and yes I know he did a fantastic job) entitled him to be the HC of one of the most storied college football programs in the country. He was seen leaving the building with a box of his stuff yesterday, and he said that he would comment on where he stands when the time is right. Sanders said that Bo and his family have loved being in Nebraska, but that he obviously needs to think about the current situation, which is only smart. If it is not Bo, Sanders would not be a bad choice. He did a great job with the secondary this year. Callahan is going to call his own plays, so unless Barney, wants to be the OL coach, then he is probably gone to Iowa State. I would like to see Gill gone. He knew the old system quite well obviously, but now that we are running the West coast Offense, maybe we can get a different QB coach. Downing will stay, he is already calling recruits. Callahan is already trying to set up a visit in Tallahassee with the five kids from Lincoln high. He has to be recertified by the NCAA before he can talk to recruits, but that is mostly a formality. He is on Tom Lemming's list of top 10 all time recruiters and that boads well for us.
  21. If Bo stays I say we get 3-5 commits within 48 hours of his announcement. Muy, Gallon, Manning, Ferguson, and possibly Owens. This recruiting class could be saved, but it will take an ass load of effort.
  22. The two sites (ESPN & Omaha.com) have reported that Callahan has accepted the job. There were also reports (not on these sites) that Pellini will remain as asst. head coach and defensive coordinator. That would sure be great!!
  23. Sorry about the double post guys. [since removed by Blackshirt] Anyway, Callahan arrived in Lincoln late, around 4:30-5 or so for the interview. I guess we should find something out sometime tomorrow about the interviews. I sure would like to hear something sooner as I'm sure all of you would as well.
  24. SP has said all along that in order to get an offer the candidate would have to meet with Perlman. According to 1620, Pellini is to meet with Perlman at 4. He came out of the interview and was very short with the media, but that's nothing new. If you like Pellini, keep your fingers crossed. If you don't, well this may not mean anything anyway.
