  1. Class People - we should be all about class and enthusiasm.
  2. I say instruct everyone to "ignore Kirk" for like the first 30 minutes of the show. But after that, show that we are the classiest fans in college football, put down the papers, and yell like crazy. This will prove your point. Kirk will probably acknowledge the newspapers on a commercial. Everyone can laugh. And then the last 90 minutes of Gameday can show a wild, loud, enthusiastic crowd. Good compromise?
  3. Keep this Bumped People! The Team needs the crowd to be unbelievable on Saturday night. Has anyone ever watched a big game at Happy Valley? Now THAT is an ELECTRIC environment! We need everyone on their feet and yelling like crazy the ENTIRE game. I don't want to offend anyone, but everyone in my section better be screaming their heads off or they are going to hear from our group
  4. GREAT POST! I agree COMPLETELY!!! Couple this with that prior post about how the fans need to be loud WHEN USC IS IN THE HUDDLE. Remember last year for the Texas game, the Blackshirts were asking the crowd to BE LOUD not only at the line of scrimmage, but WHILE THEY ARE IN THE HUDDLE. So show up early and yell your asses off. Some people say that the crowd can't effect the game, but if Booty can't effectively call the plays in their own huddle, that is a huge aid to the 'Shirts. Put simply, W E A R R E D , B E L O U D ! ! !
  5. Bump Wanted to keep this thread toward the top. Always support the troops!
  6. Tickets have been sold to a fellow Husker fan! Let it be known that I resisted a tempting offer from some Wake Forest fans ($135 per ticket), and provided an East Coast Husker Fan the tickets. So no one can call me a sellout! ;-)
  7. I want to sell these all together or a 2&2 scenario. Don't want to sell 3 and be left with just 1 (impossible to get rid of). $100 might seem steep, but when compared to EBAY, StubHub, etc (going for $150+) - $100 is quite a bit cheaper.
  8. Historically it has been very easy to get tickets for like $15 outside the stadium. We have been going to Lawrence for the Husker game since about 1990. Times are changing though - it is tougher now to get tickets. The ones released via the web this morning were going for $75 a piece via Huskers.com! It probably depends on how KU's season goes. If they are in bowl contention, then tickets might be tough to find, but if they go like 2 - 6 to start the season, the KU fans will move on toward Basketball season and there will be tons of tickets available for cheap. Definately make the trip if at all possible! The campus is beautiful, and Lawrence is a great college town. Tons of great bars for pre & post game festivities.
  9. Unfortunately our group is not going to be able to attend the game. East Stadium, Section 11, Row H, Seats 3, 4, 5, & 6 These are nice seats at about the 15 yard line. I have the tickets in hand and ready to ship. StubHub & EBAY have tickets for $150 - $250+, but I am only looking for $100 each. Please PM me here or email obie1@kc.rr.com if interested. GO BIG RED!
  10. You need these for the Oklahoma State game on Oct 13th? Your note above was't entirely clear. I will keep an eye out for any available tickets. Always happy to support the troops!
  11. Sounds like the Mizzou ticket prices are getting out of hand already. Back on Aug 10th (at 5PM), Mizzou put 4,000 tickets up for sale on their website. There were several posts about it on this board. I am hoping that a ton of Husker fans got them at that time. My brother and I each snagged 8, so we have a total of 16 for the game. If we don't end up using them all, I will put them up for sale at face value ($65) over in the classifieds section. Definately want to get all the RED in there that we can! Did anyone else get Mizzou tickets back on Aug 10th? Just curious as I am feeling sorry for the guy earlier in this thread who paid $500 for 4 tickets. Great gesture though! The team will appreciate all the support they can get down there in Columbia. That place is getting as nasty as Boulder....................
  12. Top moments from games I attended: 1) Best 5 Minutes EVER = TIE! When we took the lead on Texas last year and then made them go 3 and out. Crowd was amazing and the snow coming down................. Unbelievable 5 minutes. Then we got the ball back and you know what happened. Other best 5 minutes was '01 OU when Crouch made that catch - WOW! 2) Best Entire Game = TIE! '94 Colorado and '06 Texas A&M. CU was a bigger game, but the atmosphere at College Station is incredible. And then to win it right at the end - unbelievable! 3) Biggest Heartache = National Title Game vs FSU. The highs and lows and sitting in a hostile crowd. Taking the lead late, then giving them a couple personal foul penalties to let them kick the field goal, then missing our chance right at the end................. It still pains me to think of it to this day.
  13. A few of us made the trip down to College Station last fall and we really enjoyed the trip (the last second win was the cherry on top). Hopefully you will have as much fun coming up to Lincoln. I would check Hotels.com and look for a hotel around the airport. They are much cheaper than staying downtown, and are mostly decent places. Also, it is very easy to get from your hotel (airport area) to "O" Street. That is where you will want to hang out before the game. SideTracks (Live music wth Paul & Joyce) is a must visit, as is Duffy's (get a fishbowl), Sandy's (try the Elk Creek), and Iguana's. There are about 10 good bars along "O" Street from 9th to 15th Street. Haven't heard for sure, but the Husker Elvises are usually "performing" at the Embassy Suites on O. That is worth seeing as well. Just find your way to "O" Street, park, and follow the crowd around. Enjoy your time in Lincoln - there really is no place like "O" Street on game day. There are parking garages available, take in the action at the bars, and it is then about a 10 minute walk north up 10th street to the stadium.

  15. The K-State tickets look to be sold out (the NU game is not listed on their ticket website anymore) I just grabbed 6 for the Texas A&M game (still tickets available - get yours soon!) Iowa State's ticket site is showing that tickets will be available on 8/1 at this link: http://www.cyclones.com/ViewArticle.dbml?D...p;ATCLID=560186 MIZZOU single game tickets go on sale 8/10 at 5PM here: http://ev9.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/S...r=&appCode= Let' get some RED down there in Columbia - that is going to be a HUGE game!!!
  16. After a very tough first half of the season, the Virtual Huskers end up beating 11 - 1 #5 ranked Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl 27 - 20. We finish the season at 10 - 4 and ranked #9. So what do you guys think? Would you be happy with this type of season? NCAA 2008 on default settings turned out pretty good in my book. Let's hope the real season turns out even better!!!
  17. OK, here we go. Virtual Huskers on default settings simulated season continues. Big 12 Title Game vs #6 Texas A&M......................... We pull out a nailbiter 24 - 21 to now sit at 9 - 4 (ranked #16) and BIG 12 CHAMPS!!! We receive an invite to play #5 (11 - 1) Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl! Those results later today.
  18. When we last left our heroes, the Virtual Huskers were sitting at 6 - 4 and not ranked in the Top 25............. They promptly beat KSU 27 - 13 and are now 7 - 4 (ranked #24) We follow that up with a 41 - 13 sound beating of Colorado to finish the regular season at 8 - 4 and ranked #21. Our win over CU coupled with a Mizzou loss puts us in the Big 12 Title Game as the Champs of the North!!! We will be rematched with Texas A&M who sits at 11 - 1 and ranked #6 in the nation. Tune in tomorrow for those results!
  19. I don't understand all the complaining about the roster issue in the game. The roster is completely editable! The first thing I do every year is get the depth chart out and manually update any erroneous info that ships in the game. You can also correct any size/weight/class discrepancies. Heck, you can even fill in the player's home towns! Just a little extra effort and the virtual Huskers match the real thing. As a confession, after I complete this first season, I am going to edit Keller's speed up a bit so I can effectively run some option as I replay the season. I miss the good ole days of option right, option left ;-)
  20. The virtual Huskers try to bounce back with a great effort at Texas, but fall 31 - 27. This puts them at 5 - 4 and they remain unranked. We then take out frustrations on the lowly Jayhawks, pummeling them 38 - 10. Still unranked at 6 - 4 and still 1 game back in the Big 12 North. Watching us lose via so much via the default simulation is killing me, but we are still in the running for the Big 12 Title Game. Keep the Faith! Another update later today.
  21. man law Well said! And the Man Law is in full effect. I was up past 1AM last night playing on Heisman difficulty. I lost to USC 20 - 17 (they intercepted me in the end zone with 42 seconds to go), so replayed the game. That time I lost 17 - 16 (missing a 50yd field goal with 58 seconds remaining). Due to the Man Law (never lose with the Skers and then save the game ;-) , I had to replay the game a third time. This time the 'skers came through 28 - 24. But damn those Trojans are tough.............
  22. Thanks for making this a fun thread everyone! Getting back to the simulated 2007 season on all default settings. When we last left the virtual Huskers, they were coming off a bad road trip. Losing at Mizzou put them at 4 -2 and ranked #23. A 33 - 31 squeaker with Okie Light puts us at 5 - 2, ranked #20 But then we stumble again at home, losing 27 - 21 to A&M. Now 5 - 3 and not ranked. Tough times Virtual Huker Fans, tough times indeed. But keep the faith - we are only 1 game out of first place in the North Division. More updates later today.
  23. Oh yeah - everyone is in the game. Even Purify! The new number changes are not in there though. Lucky is still starting as #20..............
  24. Easy win over Iowa State 45 - 17 puts the 2007 Virtual Huskers at 4 -1 now ranked #16 But then a bad road trip to Mizzou (losing 35 - 24) leaves them at 4 - 2, ranked #23 Next up is Okie Light and the Aggies.....................
  25. But then fall at home to USC 28 - 14 Record 2 -1 Ranked #20 Bounce back by crushing Ball State 70 - 17 Record 3 - 1 Ranked #18 Check later for the Iowa St & Mizzou results!
