I was against nearly every firing.  Mostly because I thought we could "fix" the fault(s) of each coach.  I guess I'm one of those guys who thinks it's easier to fix something than to burn it down and start over.

That said, even though I opposed the firings, I liked each coaching hire we ended up making.

I've admitted this before, and still a little ashamed of myself..But it got to the point where I found myself rooting against my favourite team just in the hope we'd get rid of Callihan sooner.

  2. As I walk through
    This wicked world
Searchin' for light in the darkness of insanity
    I ask myself
    Is all hope lost?
Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?
And each time I feel like this inside
There's one thing I wanna know:
What's so funny 'bout peace love and understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love and understanding?
    And as I walked on
    Through troubled times
My spirit gets so downhearted sometimes
    So where are the strong
    And who are the trusted?
    And where is the harmony?
    Sweet harmony
'Cause each time I feel it slippin' away, just makes me wanna cry
What's so funny 'bout peace love and understanding? Ohhhh

    I'll try.....

Other than in the past when we had overpowering O-Lines that used to try to challenge themselves by telling the other team what play was coming up next...

We should have someone calling plays that catches the other team off guard.

I would hope Frost calls plays ''by committee'' to a certain extent..With input from his OC and possibly his running game coordinator.

Otherwise, one person would likely tend to show trends..(My biggest worry about having someone like Lubbick as our OC because of his shared History with Frost...Maybe thinking too much alike).

It would be interesting to see play calling alternated by Offensive series, quarter, or maybe just games to see what works.

Seems like there are G.A.s or other helpers keeping track of what your upcoming opponent tends to call depending on down/distance/clock and adjusting their Defensive calls accordingly.

Having more than the same person calling plays all the time would help counteract that.

So the Vince from Shamwow poster died?   Do you recall how you found out about it?

I'm not even sure he did..I now wonder if he just didn't survive the ''Banning Inquisition Purge'' that drove many of us underground for a few years..

Football wasn't the only draw to this place..The sense of familiarity with some of the posters...Even the controversial ones that pissed you off..Was hard to quit cold turkey.

The only poster I do know that's no longer with us is T_O_Bull ..  Father of the poster that started the ''What are You Listening to'' megathread.  ''Sam'' was also a facebook buddy and trying to help me deal with an assisted Living place in Lincoln that my Sister thought was mistreating my Mom.

Covid-19 might help Husker football out a little bit.  But it could really jumpstart Nebrasketball.  If the ncaa grants another year of eligibility there will be tons of grad transfers available.  That will help out major conference teams that are low on talent.  Like Nebraska.  Hoiberg would feast on huge influx of grad transfers.

    ==========================

btw,  Neither the OP nor I nor anyone else is making light of the Covid-19 situation by having this discussion.  It has affected everything in the nation, maybe in the world.  This is a Husker sports message board.  This thread is to discuss how Covid-19 affects Husker athletics.  I guess I don't see what the problem is with discussing the topic.

I wonder How it would affect J.D. Spielman's decision.

The year off would allow him time to graduate and grad transfer closer to home, or maybe get some relief from possible concussion headaches and finish at DONU.

There are quite a few posters who were regulars back then, but long gone now.  Like Vince, remember him?

I remember Vince from Shamwow...I thought he died soon after the infomercial one was arrested for punching a Florida prostitute after she bit his tongue.

I wish they would just film a scrimmage and put it on BTN. Same for every team in the league.

I get that maybe these players shouldn't be grouped together right now with the plague going on, but dang, I miss football.

Are any teams even allowed to practice?

    Amen!

I wish the NCAA would have announced the brackets and then did a video game simulation of those games.  s#!t, stream it, it would have got tons of hits/views.

Would anyone have enough practice time to put out anything resembling a game?

How about if by some miracle the season starts on time?  Might be ugly and a little risky to the players to start playing without a month or two of practice first.

There are a lot of variables.  It has been slower spreading in warmer climates.  Not a lot in Africa.  One possible factor is that it doesn't transmit as well in warmer weather.

No one really knows for sure.  But it can't be ruled out either.  It seems to be true with other strains of the flu so it would make sense.

I don't know why that is such a controversial statement that we have to spend so much time trying to pick it apart.

I'd GUESS the concern about temperature is to get a handle on the overall length of these closures and disruption of our ''normal'' activities.

In the case of most influenza outbreaks, the Summer months provided a sort of security blanket if our vaccinations and treatments weren't effective enough.

On a personal note..  My niece just posted about two kids testing positive in her daughter's school. (In Amsterdam)..She and her husband are staying home for the next month working from home... and my Nephew just offered to keep them in a hotel in Colorado to be closer to family.

I'm a little surprised she declined, but totally understand why she's staying.

This here is inaccurate information and this kind of crap is what spreads fear and makes it worse then it really is. They don’t know if it will die off when the warmer weather comes around it’s too early to tell with the virus right now but they did say it will more then likely die off when the weather gets warmer as most viruses do.

    Do you have a source?

I’m just gonna add that I don’t know how you can possibly say warmer weather may cause decline when it is already in warmer climates.

Somebody added a clickable time/subject list in the YT comments section.

I pasted them to the bottom of the video on my previous post (above yours) and bolded the ones that surprised me.

I still doubt the disease itself will ''ruthlessly kill'' you like other viruses we've had, but The kill rate comparisons may be artificially low compared to other forms of influenza because the corona infestation is just at the beginning of it's bell curve.

The thought that in many cases, infected individuals can pass this on to others (weeks?) before they even show symptoms themselves added to the (fact?) that warmer weather will not kill this one like most flu strains makes me wonder about lost football seasons, or much worse.

I guess the best we can do is to try to slow it down enough for the medical community and resources to keep up.

That's why I added the question marks.

It’s a fair question and could very well happen. What transpires in the next couple of months will be very important. I mentioned the sellout streak possibly at risk in another thread last week and was basically ridiculed by a couple posters.

Strange how much this podcast by a stand-up comic with an actual expert on infectious diseases made me change my mind on the seriousness of this ''beer flu''...Doubt I'd ever trust mainstream media this much..

Michael Osterholm is an internationally recognized expert in infectious disease epidemiology. He is Regents Professor, McKnight Presidential Endowed Chair in Public Health, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP), Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, a professor in the Technological Leadership Institute, College of Science and Engineering, and an adjunct professor in the Medical School, all at the University of Minnesota.

What about the two illegal blocks ("clips") in Johnny Rodgers' punt return in the "game of the century" against Oklahoma?  Those non-calls resulted in an erroneous TD.

lmao .. just kidding .. sort of.

First game I remember seeing, But I don't remember that return being questionable..Even with today's rules..

This is the first bad call that came to my mind..Cost T.O. a chance at his first MNC and allowed Penn State to get JoPa his first.
