  1. I found in Section 9:

    k. No player shall continuously contact an opponent’s helmet (including

the face mask) with hand(s) or arm(s) (Exception: By or against the

    runner).

And in the interpretations: "XV. A defensive player, during a live ball, twists, turns or pulls the

face mask or any opening of the opponent’s helmet. RULING:

    Personal foul."

if game is played in manhattan, ks rule is null and void.

you forgot that part thats in the fine print.

  2. It kinda looked like he fumbled right at the goal line, but apparently he was in

to me it appeared that he hit the safety with his chest and that is when the ball came out. hit would have been scary had wilson got his shoulder lowered into the safety.

  3. I live here in Wichita, kansas and pay attention to high school football around here. And let me tell you this guy is a stud. He's only a Sophomore at Wichita East, and he already has broken the single season Wichita City League rushing record, and he only played 8 games. I know KU and K state will be all over this kid. This is prolly the best RB to come out of Wichita, since Barry Sanders. I hope Cally and crew will be out to get this Kid, cuz he will be a star

you missed a pretty decent back who went to collegiate in the 90's.

  4. AP sports editor Terry Taylor said: "We understand mistakes can happen, but we thought this one could have been prevented. The heart of the matter here is the credibility of the poll."

credibility of the poll? i like that. they make an agreement with a group to determine a national champion then crown a different team the champion. now they are worried about credibility. and besides most fans think the pollsters are biased anyway.

  5. What is this in the Nebraska Press Guide that says Congdon kicked a 53-yarder in HC and also kicked 85% of his kickoffs in the endzone? Yeah right!!! :dunno

he did. but you have to remember, as someone else pointed out earlier, they dont use kicking tees in college anymore. that affects most kickers accuracy and distance.

  6. Keep in mind guys, Callahan has already offered O'Neal. So Callahan must think he can handle this guy. Or he at least thinks he deserves a second chance.

he did coach the raiders. only problem he had there was his boss. dont think he will have the same problem here that he had in oakland.

  7. It always used to be that all practice efforts were scored and the score determined who played in the game. If it's still that way, I'd guess that Shanle must score better than the young guys. Hence, the coaches have some basis for not starting them.

Maturity, as well as knowledge of the system, are BIG factors. The vast majority of 18 or 19 year old true freshman just don't have maturity but they have been practicing in the system for almost a year and now have attended 9 games to see how the system is supposed to work. Maybe the knowledge is adequate now. So, now that Major had a very good game, is that enough to trust that he will be the best person to put out there next weekend?

With that said, there are always exceptions to the rule. Maybe Major is the exception?

    :bonez

now if shanle and one of the "young guns" score the same in practice, who starts and how much time do you give each player? do you go with what has gotten you there or do you trust the kid to perform how he was in practice? (this just goes off your premise of a scoring system)

i had more to add but just started to grow frustrated over all the why's that kept coming up.

  8. All this talk of average coaches, and players, and trouble with pass defense bring to mind the early 80s.

Word has it that Tom O and his staff were perplexed on how to stop predominantly passing teams. Bobby Bowden was perplexed on how to develop a running game. They exchanged coaches, we taught them the running game, they taught us pass defense. Huskers brought in sprinters for safeties, moved safeties to corner and corners to linebacker to increase overall defense speed. It worked then, for both teams. The results are in the history books.

Maybe BC and his boys need to go back to school?

    Just a thought.

    :bonez

how do we know they havent already done this? callahan has connections to one of the nfl's better defenses. are the coaches still learning how to employ what they have learned? its a good thought, i personally feel its already being done though, just that the information being shared is coming from nfl coaches rather than other college coaches. how many college coaches share information that they have learned? i honestly dont know but with the way college athletics is nowadays i think that the information shared is somewhat limited and coaches being very selective with who they share it with.

The underlined states that we have the players.. sum of those players are not on the field

and why arent these players on the field? sooner or later you have to take the training wheels off and let them fall down a couple times.

  9. You are right, but to know that if he just HOLDS ON TO THE BALL then we would've been able to run the clock out. He also let that punt roll down to the 1 yard line which cost us some valuable field position. At least Nate Swift catches the ball.

and if the D doesnt give up a big running play on the last drive. or if they just keep them outside the 20 and not letting them inside the 10 on that drive. ifs and buts. the TEAM lost not terrance nunn. one kid doesnt need the entire husker nation breathing down his neck because of a good hit by the texas player.

  10. Since he is at a prep school, will he have 3 or 4 years of eligibility?

he will have 5 to play 4. dont lose eligibility when attending a prep school. also will be able to leave after his sophomore year to the nfl, as he would be 3 years removed from high school.

  11. If I am not mistaken though isn't the only two polls the BCS uses are the Coaches and the AP polls?

they dropped the ap in favor of the harris interactive poll, iirc. it also still uses some computer polls as well. but the bcs is crap anyway and i try not to pay too much attention to crap.

  12. nebraska is recruiting other wr's, right? the staff might be closing the deal with some other wrs and they started to cool on brooks. just trying to put a positive spin on things.

but the fact that three players from irving arent coming sounds a little fishy.

  13. i would love for wilson to have a big day today. he's my favorite back of the 4 (kansas thing, used to live there). i also thought he was heading to KSU, but that was when snyder was still the coach.
