Also - one more thing. I seem to remember Pelini redshirting a bunch of players, and even after injuries saying that he wouldn't burn the redshirts. I bet there was probably some talent in those redshirted players that would have helped us out alot last year, however, Pelini kept the redshirts rather then burning them. I just feel like we could have been much better last year, however, Bo was saving for the future. Maybe I am wrong, maybe I have no idea what I am talking about.

What exactly is NU replacing in the starting department that wont be an upgrade? In the secondary, we had a few walk-ons starting I remember, so you're telling me that it wont be an upgrade to have non walk-ons starting? The only thing you can point to, IMO, is QB and WR. However, our running game is good enough, and our OLine is good enough, to keep the pressure off of Lee. Yeah, he will be tested I am sure of that. But he wont have to come out and throw 500 yards a game by any means. I like our chances. Helu is a beast, and running behind a great OLine will help for sure.

Suh is probably better the Carriker was, however, Carricker had Cosgrove, Suh has Bo. Pretty big difference there.

VT is a great team. This is a pretty big IF. However, if our guys come up and get the W then that would give us HUGE momentum going into the middle of the season, it is very possible we could go into the OU game undefeted. Dont bank on it though. Even if we somehow walk out of there with a W that doesn't mean we will make it to OU undefeted.

Well, like someone already said.. It depends alot on what happens in our first couple of games and what happens in VaTech's first couple. If both teams come in without a loss and NU wins, then it will be a big win. However, if Bama hammers VaTech and VT struggles vs the other team they play, it might not be such a great win. And if we come in with a loss... Well, lets not talk about that

Haha @ that halfback pass. You realize that we were about 5 yards from the end zone anyway? Maybe Texas 06 or Oklahoma 05 can say "lucky half back pass" because in those games it was a TRUE TRICK PLAY that we burned them on, but come on man. That HB pass was totally different, in my oppinion.

Man that would suck. As much as I would hate to root for another team, I simply cant live without college football. I would have to go with Kansas (I live in Lawrence)

Also keep in mind the improvement our D made last year. It got better and better all year, whereas KUs defense was great a couple years ago and then went downhill from there. I look for our D to continue improvement this year.

I gave up long ago on going through the schedule before the year starts and saying "this is a sure win, this is a sure loss" because my predictions NEVER end up correct.

Dont forget, Caveman, that Ganz knew the offense like the back of his hand before he even took the field as a starter. He was, what, a 5th year senior last year? That means he had 4 years to learn the offense. Lee has been in the system I think two years now. I doubt he can be as effective as Ganz was right off the bat.

Anything could happen, I suppose. However, I don't see it being quite that good. I think we will have a good year, but not national championship callaber. Too many question marks

Yeah, I guess thats true. Frank actually had like 3 "signature wins". Texas in the Big XII championship game, then the Fiesta Bowl vs Tenn, then Oklahoma in 01... Didn't get him very far. I guess "signature wins" are a bit overrated.

It could happen this year. Tough to say, really. I dont know how good VaTech is. They were 10-4 playing in a weak ACC, however, they did win the Orange Bowl, which says something for sure. I think we will know just how good VaTech is when they play Bama. I dont think VT can keep up with Bama, but like I said, I don't know.

I think that sums it up just about right.

Helu didn't even play that much until near the end of the season, around the OU and KU games.

Well then, I know who I will be pulling for in the VT vs Bama game. I dont like Nick Saben anyway.

I am a believer in not rating coaches till 2 or 3 years into it. I like Bo, yes, but I dont think we can say how good of a job he is doing until we see how the team improves, recruiting, etc. (However, I am going to go against what I just said and rate him anyway B+)

IMO the whole Big XII North vs South thing is dumb. If the North would just beat the South team in the CCG when they play, it would make the North look better, no? But insted, the North team usually get dominated.

IMO even after those players leave, KU will still be a decent team. People forget where this KU program was when Terry Allen was fired. Mangino built it to what it is.

Jayhawker, the argument of having to play those 3 South teams should be void, because the year before last, you played 3 cupcakes from the South, which paded your stats. In my opinion, there is no way to know just how good KUs defense actually is, since every year they are either playing and easy schedule our a tough one, nothing in between. However, next year (after this season) when you play the other 3 South teams, OSU, Baylor and aTm it should be telling, since Baylor is improving and OSU isn't a slouch by any means.

Is that KU fan still talking about 76-39? Come on man. We had a completely different coaching staff, and players who had quit on their coaches. It seems to me like you are saying something like this: "We will beat you guys, because we blew you out last time you came to Lawrence". Dont forget, KU fan, that our defense has been improving ever since Pelini came to town. Throughout last year, it got better and better. I know we have quite a few question marks on the defensive side, but I believe the blackshirts will continue to show improvement, despite this. Your defense, on the other hand, was great two years ago. Last year it got way worse, and now, I dont see any improvements that make me really scared of it for this year.
