  1. Could it be? Is it really all done? Pheeeew.... Anyway, I am curious to see if Bo and Gill will stay or if they are even welcome to stay. I would hope so. Any word of a press conference yet? I would really like to keep Bo on the defense because of his performance this year. I would hope Callahan recognizes this. What about Cotton?
  2. Do you watch NFL football or have a bearing on how the pro game works? People get fired all the time, even if the season was not their fault. This guy took his team to the Super Bowl last year and that just doesn't happen. The Raiders have a crazy old lady for a owner and a half dozen pricks that got him fired because they don't realize that they themselves suck. Read up and get back to us on Callahan. I really think Bo is gone and I didn't want him to leave. I am almost positive he will if he doesn't get the job. The feeling that I get is that his interview was everything but. When asked if he was interviewed, he said "I guess you could call it that." Doesn't leave me with warm fuzzies. Oh, and we all know you don't like Pederson. You can give it a rest now.
  3. Yea, that sucks. Could be a coincidence, could not be. Either way it is no doubt that the people who did it are a$$hole$.

    recruiting

    1. Turn the caps lock off. Yell at your players, not at us. 2. Be patient, there is nothing binding any player to any team at this point. Sure, there will be recruits that won't come because of this if it doesn't get resolved soon but that is to be expected.
  5. Hard telling, but most people don't say that if they weren't happy about the way it went. Is there any telling how long the "interview" lasted?
  6. I disagree about Pelini and his overreaction. He is an emotional guy and that's just it. Not everything has an secret motive. I don't know if I could have handed a coach name Houston Nutt.
  7. Yes, I saw that before tonight and tonight again. It's hysterical. Have you seen the one about the anti-smokers? South Park RULES!!!!!
  8. RC, yea the timing probably could have been better in retrospect. I think SP knows that now and maybe it was a wake up call. Maybe he forgot exactly how big NU football is to the state?

Finally, someone who is as sick as I am with this relentless hatred of the guy who has the future of NU football in his hands. I'm not sure I entirely like the guy either, but that doesn't stop me from recognizing that he is pushing the buttons now and we really can't do much at this point. All the fickle fans will forget their attitudes if this all turns our for the better. By fickle I mean most fans interviewed at bars on the local news.
  10. Right, but the talent level is directly related to recruiting which is directly related to the staff. I agree with what you are saying about the O-Line. NU could blow anyone off the line. This year there have been tiny glimpses of an improved line, but there is still a way to go before getting back to opening holes I could run through Speaking of running, I think the days of run, run, pass are all but over. Although, establishing the running game is essential in any game. If you can run, there is no need to pass
  11. Right, but the last seasons record was not even close to the prime reason that he was fired and I don't know why people keep going to back to that. I was thinking about this the other day. For the past 4+ years, every time I sit down to watch an NU game I have thought, "OK, is the offense going to show up today?", "Is the defense give up the run?" etc etc. These thoughts were much less this year. However in the years before, I never had a doubt that we would win the game. Sure, we lost the game, but there was no swagger of "we are unbeatable" which, in my opinion is critical. If as a fan, I felt this way the players had to just feel invincible. I don't know if this feeling has run through the veins of the Huskers in a while. I think this feeling ran through the defense this year. They played 150 percent better this year. Anyone else agree?
  12. How should have have fired him? I think there is only one way to fire someone. You have a meeting, tell him he's fired, then move on. You don't need to have a damn parade about it
  13. I would say that it would be atleast until Monday because that's when the players get back from Christmas break.
  14. 1. Nebraska is not most colleges. 2. You're sure that he has that exact expectation? 12-0 every year? I'll tell you this, over the last 3-5 years or so, I haven't had the same feeling about NU football as I had before Every time I would sit down to watch a game, I thought for sure we would win. Sure, we lost games but I didn't sit down thinking, "OK, is the offense going to show up today? Is the defense going to fall on itself again?" I don't know about the rest of you, but that's kinda how it has been for me lately.

This from the guy who can't spell his name.
  16. I agree, but the chancellor doesn't need the public to explain to him that he is doing a bad job if the proof is in the pudding.
  17. The public doesn't run the football program here. The public is always upset about something. Usually the people who complain the loudest are the ones who know the least.
  18. I don't think you can hire anyone without at least a little risk. Appropriately weighing candidates and interviews help alleviate this risk, IMO. I don't know much about him and I really don't follow the NFL that closely when it comes to coaches. I agree that the NFL is a completely different beast than college as far as players relationship to the team and having owners to deal with. You guys think it will be by the end of the week? I am not sure if it would be so soon. Someone asked me today when I think we will have a coach. I said "Well, for sure by August."
  19. hahahaha. I had almost forgetten about him Watching him throw was like pulling teeth. You bring up some good points that I hadn't thought about. He is one of those good guys who does his job and doesn't get much publicity for it. At this point, I don't know what Steve is thinking about as far as a coach but I am sure Gill and Pelini will get there shots.
  20. I don't know much about the guy. You have some info?
  21. I am sure that will get someone going. I don't see any beating around the bush here. BRM and I stated exactly why we don't prefer Gill. I believe he isn't getting as much attention as Pelini right now because Pelini is the man of the hour in terms of current coaches. I was actually waiting for someone to bring this up. The fact that he is black has no bearing for me. If you can coach, then do it. I am not entirely confident in his coaching ability. I would hope that as a University, NU would be open to hiring the best person for the job regardless of race. However, if he doesn't get the job I am sure someone will "pull the race card" as it were. Someone always does whether it has bearing or not. Part of the root of the problem in my mind. If he doesn't get the job, I believe he will stay around. Why would he leave unless he was fired?
  22. Keeping threads on topic is cool. There are at least two threads about Ell Roberson elsewhere.
