  1. No, there is no conflict. You have to think about what is "any cost". If you see firing a coach as an extreme cost then yes, it is conflicting. Also, is it necessary to "win at all costs" to contend for the NC? No, not if the team is good enough. At some point some people in Nebraska are going to realize that it might be time to look outside the program after 40 years. I know some of you probably think from my posts here that I am on Pederson's "side" when the truth is I am not on anyones "side". Being a die hard Husker fan, I am trying to look at this situation from a realistic standpoint and not look at the situation through "Husker Red" glasses as it were. GO HUSKERS!
  2. Eh, who cares. I think it's funny when a guy gets gobs of sh#t for doing his job. This is what he was hired to do. Make decisions about the NU athletics. That's what he is doing. If they turn out to be bad decisions, then he will be replaced and shame on the people that hired him. You can't chastize a guy for doing his job.
  3. There is something wrong with the way you are posting these links. They all have "mailto:" in the front which will invoke a mail client instead of just following the URL. Here are the links that will work fine. http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_np=0&u_pg...38&u_sid=933068 http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_np=0&u_pg...38&u_sid=933246 http://www.dailynebraskan.com/vnews/displa...0/3fcad28d4b1dd
  4. Yea, it is possible, I just think it's BS I just don't like the idea of an anonymous source.
  5. I agree that Pedersen has made his bed and now he must lie in it. He will get his if this doesn't pan out to much.
  6. I am going to hopefully catch it at 10. From my experience, publicity does bring more people to the boards. Every once in a while a sharp person comes along, but sadly it seems that the retards come out in droves. But that's why people like you are here
  7. I can't wait to hear all the inane opinions on football in general. I don't know where they find these people sometimes! Usually a couple will know what's going on and have a good grasp of NU football, the others don't. If anyone gets on the news from this site a plug IS required!
  8. Yea, there is no way Spurrier would be brought in. He is the anti-NU!!! Any consideration of him is only a way to get people to react to such a rediculous idea.
  9. To early to really say, but as far as an internal solution I would go with Pelini. He is a no nonsense, straight to the point motivated and confident coach. Also, I think Husker fans are going to have to realize that after 40 years, it might be time to go outside the program!
  10. The post above is mine, I forgot to log in! DOH! I would also like to add that firing someone in the public spotlight is hard. The rumors that were started certainly did not help the situation and I think it was handled the best way considering the situation.
  11. BS. As a journalist, how can you site an anonymous source? Why don't you just say "...a little birdie told me..."? Why not? Because then even the gullible people would get suspicious. One theory I have on how one could come up with a story like this is that he did do what the Star said at Pittsburgh when he was there. He gave the head coach another job while hiring a new head coach. Substitute some names and there you have it, a "story". That's not to far of a stretch in my mind.
  12. He has some raw talent that has shown in his limited time this year. Now the trick is to develop that talent and grow into a master of the NU offense. Speaking of the offense, Cotton seems to want to take a more balanced approach which I think is welcome. For a long time we could run on anyone we want. I don't think that is so anymore. If we had a top-notch offensive line like we had in the mid-90's, then yes we could run run run! I think Dailey could be a good fit for the offense.
  13. I expect some big things from Cory in the future.
  14. Yea, I would like to know too. I am afraid what this news could do to the recruiting class.
  15. That's absolutely rediculous. I couldn't believe it when I heard that. I guess Kansas fans are really douchebags.
  16. I don't see this as being all bad. I don't know why he couldn't transform Lord into a better quarterback over the five years he was there. Most if not all the of QB's of recent years had so much natural talent, coaching wasn't difficult. Lord has physical running ability, but I would have expected a better passer, at least mechanically, after five years of good coaching. As for the rest of the situation..... I didn't think Solich should should be fired when I heard the rumors start to circulate. I would have given him through 2005 to get a large group over very good players to the university. I guess Pederson saw that as wasted time. He had to say something with all the controversy swirling due to the Journal Star's article, which was absolutely horrible and goes to show the level of journalism that is acceptable in that rinky dink paper. It would be horrible for the team and the rest of the coaching staff to have that still hanging over their head for the bowl game. In my eyes, something had to be said because the controversy had simply gone out of control. It's hard to say if this will be a good move in the long run but it doesn't help badmouthing everyone in the administration in the mean time. What's done is done and if Pederson did make a bad move, he will get his eventually. If not, people will be praising him. Look for big time rumors to start spreading about Pederson from the people who are upset about this. In the end, they are no better than the Star. It is obvious why a lot of people are upset about it. Most people who post on this board, including me, have never lived through the firing of a head coach an NU. Change is frightening for anyone, especially when you think the change is for the worse. The firing of a head coach is something that just doesn't happen around here. Thus the vehement feedback by some. Honestly, I was satisfied with the performance this year and was looking forward to what the team will look like next year. Now it's kind of up in the air again. Although I would have thought that six years under Solich would have shown better recruiting classes by now. Don't get me wrong, we have some excellent players on the team. But none at the level of people like Tommie Frazier or Eric Crouch. Husker fans have been pissing me off more lately than any member of the administration. Everyone thinks they know whats best. They want to win every game but they don't want to see the "family" broken up. I guarantee this will be all forgotten if a new coach can come in and go undefeated. These types of fans make me want to vomit. GO HUSKERS!
