This one cracks me up. I really don't think that blitzing on a 4th and 12 is the right answer most of the time. This is just a hindsight is 20/20 thing. If they would have blitzed and been burned deep, the same LSU fans would be complaining that he blitzed and should have put in a nickel package. well, it 4th and 12. arky has an inexperienced young qb, they have to score a td to get another ot... you have a severly banged up secondary that has been less than awesome all season long...how does "not blitzing" sound good? Not blitzing sounds good, because a blitz is high risk, and that situation does not call for a high risk/high reward option. If it works, you know you are going to stop them. If it doesn't, then you're putting even more pressure on your severely banged up secondary which is now undermanned to stop the receivers because you have blitzed, and are probably going to give up the first down. You just need to stop the offense from gaining more than 11 yards, so why not put in a base package, or even a nickel package, because you are relatively sure they are going to pass. The fans calling for a blitz in that situation are assuming that a blitz would be successful. If that were always true, then I guess you should have been blitzing every play. Yeah, LSU didn't blitz on that play, and it didn't work out. That doesn't mean it was the wrong call. If you play poker, you may know that in some situations you have a 95% chance of winning if you bet. Occasionally you bet in that situation and lose, because the 5% chance of losing hits. That doesn't mean you made the wrong decision, it just means you were unlucky. Good call...maybe you should be the new DC for the Tigers haha

ehhhh, as an lsu fan, we could do worse... we could do better though. at times his d was imaculate other times it was absoulutly mind numbing. its not the "mcfadden ran all over us" thing, because thats just mcfadden, you can game plan perfectly, have all the talent in the world on d, do everything right... and d-mac will still burn you. its more we didn't blitz against arky on a 4th and 12 in overtime, consequently they got the first down and went on to win the game. same thing against kentucky, who had zero running game and a sloooooowwww qb but we didn't blitz all game long, when you don't blitz someone like woodson you're going to be picked apart. i still don't understand this hire and thats not sour grapes like alot of people want to think, its more you are "nebraska" you should be able to do alot better than bo pelini. anywho, good luck. Did I miss something here? Are my facts wrong? I'm just saying that this whole thing stinks to high heaven. IBR knew months ago EXACTLY what was going to happen. Doesn't this mean anything at all to you? Not really. IBR hasn't been right about everything. He heard from some boosters that Pederson was going to get fired a couple days before it happened. I dont see where he said Osborne was going to get hired. If he said EVERYTHING 2-3 months ago in a post and was correct about everything at THAT time then maybe just maybe you would have any kind of valid point. IBR came in and said things at the times that things were going to happen, which would make perfect sense as the process went along. Theres no consipracy, theres nothing going on behind the scenes. Some people always try to find a conspiracy in everything. And as far as Osborne interviewing people in earnest, Yeah Im sure he did. I have no question about that. IBR said on 10/15/07 that Pud was fired, TO as interim Ad and top candidate was Bo. I think all of this was decided a while back.
