  1. The Bachelor is fairly confident in a Florida win. I missed the other two, though... anyone see who they picked?
  2. They put their third tier of CFB analysts on for Bowl Mania. Ed and Robert both picked Nebraska, The Bachelor chose Clemson. Ed said we have the best defensive line in the Big 12 I completely disagree, but I'll accept the praise nonetheless.
  3. Iowa doesn't want to play us. Byrne, and Pederson have tried getting an annual lined up agaist Iowa but they want nothing to do with playing us. Why? I don't know. Curious where you heard this. Is it documented? I live in Iowa and was never aware of this.
  4. Our HC was gone on October 13th. Our wide receivers coach was immediately named interim HC. Within 3 hours the interim HC fired our OC. We played our last 6 games without an OC. The interim HC had our 29 year old QB coach up in the booth calling the plays. He doesn't have any OC experience. What some of y'all fail to understand is this Clemson team is not the same team that started off the season 3-3. So comparing our overall record to yours to determine overall matchup is NOT a good way to look at us. In our last six games we lost to Georgia Tech and Florida State. Our interim HC and our QB coach had three days from the time Tommy Bowden was gone to prepare for GT. The GT game was fairly close and honestly we should have won it. While Florida State appears to have beaten us soundly you should note that we were in a position to tie them with 2 minutes left in the game. Thus, our interim HC won 4 out of the last 5 games played. South Carolina had the number 1 defense in the SEC when we played them. We are NOT a run oriented team. Just because we supposedly have one of the best running back tadem teams in the country doesn't mean we are run oriented. We are much more balanced than you may be thinking. One of our wide receivers is the all time ACC career leader on receptions. Hopefully you have an opportunity see him showcase his ability. Further, I should note that our Defense is our strong point. Our offense has pretty much sucked most of the year. Our D was destroyed by Alabama but I guess what do you expect. Those guys turned our pretty good. It was our D most of the year who won our games not the O. Y'all seem to think the opposite of what I just stated. Again, our offense has pretty much sucked most of the year. The exception would be the destruction of the #1 SEC defense. However, even here our defense intercepted Carolina's QB four times and blocked one punt of theirs. We had our DC all the way through the last game though but now he is gone and will not be at the Gator Bowl. With that said, I still do not understand why we are favored over y'all when we don't have an OC or DC. The betting people must know something about y'all that us Clemson people don't. I was just curious as to what you thought that may be. You seem quite happy with your production since Bowden's firing, so I'm not sure why you're so surprised Clemson is favored. I should note that to say you are not run-oriented would be a bit of an understatement. Clemson's rushing attack has been flat-out poor this season, as they rank 95th out of 120 teams in rushing offense with just 120 ypg.
  5. I completely disagree. I think the Big 12 got extremely favorable match-ups, and with the exception of the Gator and maybe the NCG and the Holiday, they're all potential blowouts in the Big 12's favor.
  6. Vegas odds rankings: Missouri over Northwestern (-13.5) Kansas over Minnesota (-10.5) Texas over Ohio State (-9.5) Texas Tech over Ole Miss (-5.5) Oklahoma St. over Oregon (-3.5) Nebraska over Clemson (+3) Oklahoma over Florida (+3.5) <-- headscratcher
  7. I thought I might have been showing a little bias with my 55%. The fact that we are the slight underdog shows most people would have that number closer to 45%.
  8. It will be interesting to see what attitude Okie St. goes in with. They certainly have the horses to beat Oregon (not Oregon St., BTW) handily.
  9. First, some trivia: When was the last time a conference with at least 6 teams in the post-season went undefeated in their bowl games? Now, do you think the Big 12 can pull it off this year? Here are the games, with my confidence in the Big 12 winning each: Texas over Ohio State (85%) Kansas over Minnesota (80%) Missouri over Northwestern (75%) Texas Tech over Ole Miss (75%) Oklahoma St. over Oregon (70%) Oklahoma over Florida (70%) Nebraska over Clemson (55%) Which means, according to me, a 10.3% chance of the Big 12 going 7-0. It would be an amazing feat, and this is certainly the year to do it.
  10. I see... I understand how it was confusing. I meant to say when a coach ranks his own team higher than any other coach ranked them. It was in reference to Bo ranking Nebraska at 22, while no other coach had them higher than 25. But I don't want to pile on Bo, because like I said, there are plenty of reasons to disregard the Coaches Poll as any sort of valid ranking system.
  11. yes, b/c meyer or stoops having UF or OU #1 is total bias. I don't know what you're getting at here. Stoops doesn't vote, and Meyer putting Florida #1 is obviously NOT putting them higher than everyone else, since 25 other coaches agreed. Can't say the same with Bo putting us at 22. But that's just one small reason among many that the coaches poll is an absolute embarrassment to the integrity of the sport. All human polls are in some degree, but especially the coaches.
  12. Coaches poll is a joke. Anytime you have your team higher than anyone else, the bias becomes painfully obvious.
  13. Anyone else thought about this? Both have childhood nicknames that have essentially replaced their given first names. Their last names rhyme. Both played college ball at the universities of their respective home states. Both started as graduate assistants and quickly worked their way to assistants before becoming head coaches. They're both extremely young for FBS head coaches (Dabo is 39, Bo is 40). Both endured being fired with their bosses (Solich and Mike DuBose). Both have a blue-collar reputation and were relative anonymities on a national level, but gathered a cult-like following in their respective fan bases.
  14. That's slick. The reflection is a nice touch too. Simple and classy.
  15. Awesome. Very creative with the helmet stripes over the concrete.
  16. Myth. Oklahoma played for it after getting squashed by KSU, remember?
  17. Chill out, Dan. Even the NU site says "likely". And just because you can purchase tickets from Huskers.com, does not necessarily mean they've been "given their allotment". They could just be selling them from the same batch as GatorBowl.com is. I agree it is 95% sure, but I also think no one has fully considered the ramifications of a Mizzou victory.
  18. Gator Bowl Association President Rick Catlett, when asked to compare Nebraska and a potential 9-3 Oklahoma State, Catlett said “I don’t think we’d have a chance to pick Oklahoma State.” But what if they do have a chance (which they will if Missouri wins)? I guess we should be rooting for OU Saturday.
  19. This story seems to fit the circumstances fairly well. I don't know what the statutory rape laws are in Nebraska, but it's possible the case was handled privately, and no charges were filed (possibly with the stipulation that Cody would no longer play for the team). The age of consent is 17. It's impossible to know for sure, but this doesn't seem too far-fetched.
  20. It does matter. Yes, they will have two teams either way, but the scenarios are different. If OU wins... NC: OU BCS: Texas Cotton: Texas Tech Holiday: Oklahoma State Gator: NU Alamo: Mizzou But if Mizzou wins, they're in the BCS and everyone else gets knocked down a notch, or so it would seem. Do we have reason to believe the Gator will pass on Okie St.?
  21. Two pretty different situations. LeKevin was sort of in a crowd of players if I remember right, while Suh was all alone and the only threat to him was Hawkins, whom he had squarely in his sights (and therefore was no threat to stripping the ball).
  22. It couldn't have been criminal charges. Bo said this just before the CU game, when asked if it would be possible that Glenn could come back for a bowl game: “You never know,” Pelini said. “That’s why he’s indefinitely suspended.”
  23. '86. http://www.soonerstats.com/football/games/....cfm?GameID=869 "Bosworth came into the game with his brash talking, while Nebraska countered with their own mouth in Thomas. For the first time in the modern era of Nebraska football, the Huskers donned red pants and red jerseys for the game." Damn, what a catch on 3rd and 12.
  24. If Mizzou beats OU Saturday, they get an automatic berth in the BCS. Texas would then play Bama-UF winner in the NC game. Then the Big 12 Bowls go: Cotton: Oklahoma Holiday: Texas Tech Gator: ??? In this scenario, Oklahoma St. is still available. You have to wonder if this is part of the reason they're waiting until Sunday. Everyone expects OU to blow out Mizzou, but if MU happens to pull the upset, would the Gator consider the Cowboys?
