  1. I don't care what anyone says: no one had the pure talent Phillips had. If it weren't for his anger problem and consequent suspension from the team, he would have had a legitimate shot at the Heisman in 95.

Agreed. Both Warren Sapp & Ray Lewis have said LP was the best player they have ever played against at any level.

  2. Personally, I feel like recruiting should be in its own forum. Recruiting is a big topic and there are legit subforums for that (by year). Introducing hierarchy (too many subforums) is annoying, and placing recruiting into a lower hierarchy is annoying because it makes it less accessible.

I agree with this. I know that many people (myself included) visit the Recruiting page much more than the Main Forum.

  4. Aaron may be like Chris Whaley. Big time talent that has every school in the country chasing him. Will be tough, but at least we are starting early with Aaron. We will need to, because all the heavy hitters are already aware of the kid.

Well, if that's the case, I hope he doesn't decide to go the Chris Whaley route and elects to play ball with his bro instead.

  5. And back to Ole Miss as a preferred walk-on.

I'm sorry, but why is this news worthy to to us ?

Dude, no need to be snappy about it. Pete was just letting us know the status of the kid. I thought it was newsworthy, and am interested in the status of these guys.

If it bothers you that much, don't read it.

  8. So since Nebraska is going after a recruit who is already committed to another school, can we get over the "Bob Stoops is a shameless, low dirty scumbag who is straining his friendship with Bo by going after a Nebraska recruit" deal?

Eh, this is a bit different - this WR is a soft commit and has always said he is open to taking visits, versus A. Green who was a firm verbal and hasn't visited anywhere in months.

  9. Green was never going anywhere. It could have been Northeast Idaho State calling and I believe the Green's would allow them an opportunity to speak. They are just good people like that. Very strong in their faith as well which is why their word is very strong with them.

normally families like that have a pretty close relationship.. hopefully that will mean something when it comes to recruiting his lil brother.

    Great point.

  10. technically Rodgers was a HB

Agreed. I don't think that Johnny Rodgers was a WR in the purest sense of the term.

If we are talking about who is the best pure WR that Nebraska has ever had, the answer is hands down Irving Fryar. We have not had a player at that position come close to his level of play-making ability before or since.

When you look at his body of work at Nebraska and in his 15+ years in the NFL, there is no contest.

  11. Athletically speaking, none of those mentioned can touch Irving Fryar. He was a freak in terms of speed and agility, and the best example of a pure WR that Nebraska has ever produced.

People forget - Fryar was the number one pick in the 1984 NFL draft, and a five-time Pro Bowler. Who says we can't produce quality wide outs?
