  1. First i would like to state that i really think i could have done what Lee did at QB on saturday. Yes he managed the offense BLAH BLAH BLAH, but half of us on this board could have handed it off to the HB and made the completions he did. Second, the thing that irks me about Lee is how he gets so scared in the pocket. They should just let SUH hit him fullout in practice one time, so he knows that no hit will hurt worse than that one the rest of his life. I wouldnt have a problem with Lee if he didnt look so scared. Atleast Green steps up in the pocket like a Pro would. Third, Lee shouldnt even be playing D1 ball. For years we havent been able to land a quality QB with the exception of Green, and i am a firm believer that Lee will never be capable to play at this level. The Sunbelt Conference might be his best choice if he ever makes it. The coaches should rotate the two in and out during the game or atleast the second half of this game. If they use Lee, we really wont win out the rest of the season. I stand by that. He may not throw as many picks but when he gets sacked, its like a turnover for this team anyway.. And you know that Green "steps up like a pro" based on his 59 passes he has attempted. Since we can judge everything on that i will wade in I will surmise using the info at hand the same info you think is enough to make your judgements. 1. He has thrown a pick once every 29.5 attempts 2. His completion percentage is 55.9% 3. His efficiency rating is 105.47 COMAPARED TO LEE 1. He has thrown a pick once every 34.3 attempts 2. His completion percentage is 59.7% 3. His efficiency rating is 132.51 If you looked at this and didn't know the players you would want to play player #2 Before you personally come back with the argument of Lee has had more time and more plays JUST REMEMBER it was you that said Green steps up like a pro blah blah blah. Therefore it was you that felt we could justify Green as a QB based on sample size not me. I am just running with it. Before you also try to throw out that Green is a better runner so that makes up for this PLEASE REMEMBER that 82 of Greens 143 rushing yards have come in MOP UP duty late in the game against poor teams and their 2nd and sometimes 3rd string defenses WHICH I WANT TO POINT OUT is one of the things used to bash Lee (all his success comes against Sun-Belt teams) which it appears so did most of Cody's rushing prowess Finally I want to stress again, that you are the person that felt the sample size for Cody was enough to use in an argument so I am only following your lead
  2. Lee will start against OU. I think. lol I think you have to start Lee. The coaches have a responsibility to keep the morale of the players up. It has been said that Zac did a great job coming off of the bench and people like him in that role. Great but those ideas almost scream that we know Cody is going to need "relieved" at some point so why start a guy that we know is going to have to be pulled. Also, Lee was on the field when we beat OU and he played well coming off of the bench, but do we know he would again. After beating OU and handling or managing the offense the way he did to get it done, sitting him on the bench to start the next game would have a greater chance of demoralizing him that motivating him. It is a fact that most athletes at most levels want to play. This is not baseball where the relievers or closers are an integral part of the game, this is football obviously and in football, most cases there is not the use of a reliever so to speak. I truly think if everyone would sit back and take the likes and dislikes of any of the given QB's out of the equation, they would come to the same conclusion which is our Offense is not so good with either QB, BUT, our Defense is great and we need an offense that doesn't lose us games but is managed in such a way that it minimizes mistakes and capitalizes on the mistakes the other teams make because of our defense. When you add that up, i truly believe that there isn't any option other than Lee. Does he run as well as Cody, no Does he pass as well as Cody, yes or at least equal but MOST IMPORTANTLY, he gets us into the right plays and the right calls a vast majority of the time and much more so than Green and right now with our offense and the state is in, that is key
  3. Bos8888 thanks had a good response all typed out but couldn't post it because it made me as bad as the responder. glad you could see the post or idea for what it was
  4. Enhance i realize all of this and totally agree. I dont agree that it would be wasting a timeout in the first half but i realize that the line can't block and the WR get no separation, and that the WR dont sit when they are supposed to against zones, and that Lee checks down to quickly, and that our O just overall leaves a lot to be desired. Just putting something out of the norm out there. Satirically speaking, nothing else of real football use has worked More or less just look to have an entertaining post. General however, decided that i was an idiot and felt compelled to say it. Maybe he needs to put on his reading glasses and read it again because if he had read it through the first time he might realize that my last line states simply that i know the idea is stupid. Nowhere in that post does it say that I am an expert or a coach. What is funny however, is that i heard this silly notion from the mouth of a longtime college coach one in fact that coached here and when he stated it to me we both laughed but he followed it up by saying "sometimes when all conventional methods dont work you just have to try something out of the norm"
  5. at least get it moving in a somewhhat positive direction. The first time we have 3rd and long and we are at our 35 or better call a timeout. Call the entire offense over get in the OLine arse and tell them this one play they have to protect. call a play that involves deep routes only take the QB aside and tell him that no matter what, this one play, do not DO NOT check down. Tell the QB that the ball has to go deep. It is OK if the throw is picked. just force him to throw the ball downfield. It is fine to throw a pick and if it does get picked that the QB won't get benched. I think this would be a major step to shaking the cobwebbs out of the QB's heads and putting a little confidence into them. This only works if Lee is the QB in my plan. I know this is stupid and all but i actually think this would work.
  6. Who is going to KU and who is tailgating. I have a parking spot right next to the stadium and will be tailgating all day and would like to invite all fellow huskers. just shout out if you may stop by so i can by enough beef and beer. hope all of you stop by even those who disagree with my wanting Lee to play
  7. I wrote last week that Green provided no spark in the win vs. baylor. nor did he vs OU. Not that Lee did either but the blind hatred for Lee is over the top. He managed the game as he was asked to do. he didn't commit silly turnovers and he didnt cost us the game. We won we beat OU with Lee at QB and still we are on here bashing him. when will it stop. I don't know for sure but my money is on a Loss if Green stayed in the game because he would have continued to make silly mistakes that would have cost us. Again to the blind Lee bashing. When are we gonna bash the real problem. the Oline. they aren't good. Peyton Manning himself would struggle with this Line. Alot of you say Cody is the future. I don''t believe that either. Im not sure who is. What i do know is the "spark" most likely will not come this year at least as we would like. I think the only spark we will see is the one we saw saturday and that was a good RB grinding yards and a QB who did NOT lose us the game. that is the "spark" we have right now. They need to quit the wavering and announce Monday who is the QB and stick with them. I believe it should be Lee but that is my opinion. I will not sit here however and blindly bash a guy for any reason unlike so many who just have to blast Lee even tho he won us the OU game. No before you go off about how he didn't win us the game, I saw a hundred posts after the Iowa St game that stated He didn't lose us the game but he is the QB and gets the brunt of the issues placed on his shoulders, so if that was the case then he damn sure deserves the bulk of the credit for winning us the OU game. Green may be the future but are we playing for the future. Last i looked their is still 5 games left this season. if you include the Big 12 championship and the bowl
  8. start Cody and we lose at least 1 of the next 3. with our Defense, Zac is the only option because he doesn't make the same mistakes Lee is better right now
  9. It does in terms of Head Coaching but come on man, they are a top ranked defense year in and year out. as a whole our fan base is putting to much stock in the man the myth the legend Cody Green and his unusual ability to gain a few yards on the ground. We have put so much stock in it in fact that we don't care about mistakes or lack of passing and in many cases we don't care about the rest of this year because the man the myth the legend is the "future" Where did OU's D end up last year? Were they even in the top 20? OU's fans will be the first to tell you about a Venebles coached D. I'm surprised Stoops himself hasn't taken over the duties of DC. That being said, I have no doubt they can run base D and more than hold our O in check. Junior, to argue about Venables is a waste of both of our times. You did sum it up best though when you said they can run base D and keep us in check. yes they can and i think they will. we seem to think the threat of the QB run is going to throw them off but the reality is the lack of a passing attack will make Cody a marked man. Lee might play cuz Cody might get hurt. I CERTAINLY HOPE HE DOESN'T

  12. Asante has played extremely well all year. He has been in position and has defended the run very well. His coverage has improved to a point where it is more than average. O'hanlon you get what you get. there were a few plays in the Baylor game where the safety was late or not in position and it was O'hanlon each time
  13. yes Pat White did, but they didn't have an identity crisis with their offense. everyone knew what their offense was and they recruited for that offense. Us on the other hand have a crisis with our identity. and the future doesn't look any clearer. If we were going to move to the run first type of spread then we damn sure shouldn't be recruiting Gabbert. To compare the Pat White offense to ours is not doable. my point with Pat White is that he couldn't throw it at all and neither can Green Little harsh there, I've seen him make some throws that Lee hasn't been able make. Green has shown several times that he's been able to throw a deep out and have the ball there as the receiver comes out of their break. With Lee, they make their break and wait for the ball. Neither QB has shown that they can do what made Ganz such a great QB, and that's throw on the run. Big difference is this was Green's first meaningful playing time, Lee has had 7 games. again i stand by my statement. go watch the film of every game and you will see Zac made some great throws on Deep Outs, he made some great throws on deep balls, in fact watch the film and you will see that he has made every throw possible. You are right though in one respect, he did make 2 throws that Zac doesn't have mastered and that is the "bounce 10 yards short of the WR" throw OH Yeah, one more actually, and that is the "lock on to the WR pick 6" throw

  15. if we have a Cody Green lead offense we won't be in the game. Their D and D-Coordinators are going to confuse the youngster so badly that their are going to be some serious mistakes made that will lead to points for OU. Lee at least would not make those mistake
  16. So would I but it won't happen in the Big 12. You cannot win this conference if you aren't balanced in your attack. everyone looks at the numbers put up by Bradford last year but they forget that they had 2 very good running backs that put up big numbers as well.
  17. I will agree on the Ohio State part with one exception. we play in the Big 12 not the Big 10 and that is a huge difference. the 2 conferences are not comparable

  19. You are grossly exaggerating Lee's performance under pressure. Lee did both good and bad under pressure. At times he threw great, beautiful passes and at times he threw passes that were an abomination. He was at times a serviceable runner and at times he was tentative. This should not be surprising considering he's a first-year starter. They often struggle. No matter how anyone slices this, the offense as a whole has struggled all year, independent of QB play. Line blocking is not independent of QB play. WRs running poor routes is not independent of QB play. RBs running tentatively is not independent of QB play. They are all pieces of the whole, and all affect each other. Lee has been less than stellar, but he is not the sole reason we lost three games. Pulling Lee for Green does not solve our other problems, as evidenced by the wholesale changes at WR this week. I will support either Lee or Green, whichever guy starts, that's my guy. This business of throwing either one under the bus in support of the other guy is silly. They're both Huskers, and they both need support. lets put it this way 1. Lee vs. Vtech was 13-31. there were 8 dropped passes and 4 throws that were thrown away to avoid a sack 2. Lee vs Mizzou was under 50% but in a torrential down pour we thought it best to throw timing sideline patterns in which the ball had to travel 30+ yards couple with the rain throwing off the timing. There were also 7 drops in the Missouri game. 3. The TT game. This game is about big MO and we get the ball after they score, run a pass in the flat that our WR drops for a fumble and then stands there and watches the guy score. Is that Zac's fault. There were 7 dropped balls in the TT game. TT also plays a ton of zone Defense and i saw 7-8 times where the WR didn't sit in the zone but instead kept moving thus giving the illusion of a poor pass 4. the Iowa St game. Lee lead us to the red zone time and time again. we turned the ball over inside the 5 4 times and inside the red zone 6 times. the one pick was freaky, yes he threw it low but it bounced off people like 7 times. The second pick was a little high and behind but the WR got both hands on the ball. Has to be caught. the third pick was a bad throw. Zac didn't lose 5 fumbles and he damn sure didn't drop the 5 passes that were dropped and he damn sure didn't misfire the 6 times (that i saw) where the WR once again didn't sit in the zone. Lastly, Zac damn sure didn't miss block after block, get motion penalty after motion penalty.
  20. But its not. There may have been "open competition this week" but some very knowledgeable insiders (more than 5) knew Cody was starting on Sunday. I knew it, was called Sunday night and the caller said "the freshman is starting this week" Players knew it. It proves that publicly stating there is competition doesn't mean there is. It would be 100% assinine to not start him now. We made the bed now we have to sleep in it. The coaches use a grading system, and Zac grades better every week. sometimes coaches throw that out and make a change. Zac more than likely will grade out better this week to but they aren't going to change because to do so risks the mentality and confidence of the new horse in the stable and you can't do that
  21. Were we watching the same game?! Some of Green's passes missed horribly. Did you forget about the skip passes? I have to agree with Travis here on every single point. Lee has looked shaken due to horrible line play and injured RBs. He did however need to work on getting rid of the ball sooner. I see us losing more games starting Green at this point than Lee. I think the switch to Green was only done to appease fans. Baylor does not have a good team at all. If Lee had started I bet we would have put up 2 more TDs in the game as well as not having a pick 6. After the Virginia Tech game and how Oklahoma looks now, who would you pick to win the game? my how things change. The only way we could win the Oklahoma is with Lee. A confident Lee that is. I did see Green throw the skip passes but alot of those were on the run. And on the slants Green hit his wr's in the numbers. You really think that Zac Lee who was had a alittle over 1 yard per rush and looks scared everytime anybody gets next to him will be able to do anything against the sooners? At least Green can take off and he broke some tackles against baylor. I backed lee at the start of the year but he had his chance and its Greens turn. Why should we struggle with a JR and then have to go through it again with Green in two years. Atleast let him see what he can do in a big game Lee got that chance and sucked every big game. And dont say the mizzou game because that was all because of are D. The OU Defense is begging for him to run. give me a break, just because he is a Husker does not make him super man. the few yards he may gain on the ground will not make up for the one dimensional offense we will have to run with him in the game. Not saying we win with Lee but our chances are better because he can actually throw a little
  22. I love the debate. I certainly want Cody to be successful. No doubt. I am not however one of the people that agree that cody has the IT or WOW factor like everyone else. I look at Tyrod Taylor and Pryor and Pat White and Tebow and don't see WOW either. Tebow and Young were and are good but their system worked because they were stacked with talent across the board. I just don't see Green ever being a good passer or an all around good QB. The fact we are playing him now because he can run a little says to me that our whole offensive unit isn't worth spit. What really irritates me though is the GREEN IS THE FUTURE comments. We still have games this season and we have a chance at the North and will make a bowl but we want to scrap this for the future. I hope i am mistaken but i can't wait til after ou and ku to read the boards. Green is young and will make youngster mistakes, he also isn't a good passer right now and will make mistakes because of that. those mistakes are going to cost us a game that lee would not cost us because he wouldn't have made those mistakes. sorry but believe it to be true.
  23. That's 100% fluff. Lee, regardless of being the much better of the two, will not start again at NU unless Green gets hurt. With that said, if he wants to play again, he should leave. If he's good with being second fiddle - he should stay. It is that simple. precisely, sham wow. Each position is open each week unless it's not and the QB position here just got closed. The worst thing we could do to Cody Green is start him as a Frosh then bench him for making Frosh mistakes. Nope this job has sailed. If Cody loses his job it is to Gabbert or someone else.
  24. No Lee may not be a great QB next year. What i am saying is that he is a heck of a lot better than he is getting credit for and that he is showing. There are a lot of problems that have led to everyones opinion of him. our Oline is bad our WR are bad or have played bad our RB are dropping like flies our OC has not come up with one game plan to fit our offense or to put our offense and the QB in a position to be successful. our WR coach has played Wr because they block better not because they get open and can catch There are a ton of problems that have led to Lee "looking awful" Those problems still exist and will make Green look awful too
