  1. there are entirely too many. Is anyone else not sick of hearing the "Lee is a SR and gone after the season so go with the young guy" statement. It makes no sense whatsoever. I guess Tebow should have sat last year. Leinart and Vince Young should have sat their Sr. years. Colt McCoy should have sat last year. I can go on an on. This is the single dumbest idea ever. Why does everyone assume that the Lee of last year is the Lee of this year. He is healthy now. Dumbest statement ever
  2. am interested email me at tmeyer@midwestholding.com
  3. it is amazing how many people on here read parts or bits of posts but not the whole thing. I know who Ahman, Lawrence, etc. are. If you would read the whole damned post you would see that I also added that those teams had lines that rank up there with the best lines in history they didn't have to throw the ball. We don't have that type of line. Our running game isnt close to those teams therefore we are going to have to tthrow the ball. stop spinning things to make your points to compare those lines to ours, and those QB to ours now is laughable at best
  4. It is something isn't it? 10,000 posts worrying if Tmart can throw the "long ball". lol! Like Crouch, Frazier, Frost, etc ever could.....all they did was "win". YOU make some excellent points but unfortunately they don"t apply to this year and this team the guys you mention didn"t have to throw the ball because they had the best lines college football could offer also bama probably isn"t worried about fluffy offenses but they would worry about the "fluffy" offense a whole lot more than our run first run middle and run last offense. Good passers don't throw the balls that Tmart has thrown. those of you that believe we can win every game without an effective passing game are well foolish. I too am not opposed to Tmart starting but I must agree that Lee being 3rd is more than a talent issue. I talk daily with people that attend practice regularly. they say the same Tmart can really run but he can't throw it And you're foolish if you think that we could have any passing game whatsoever without an effective running game. We could have Peyton Manning in the backfield, but if we can't run the ball, our offense isn't going to move the ball an inch. The whole offensive transformation is just the process of Nebraska coming back around to what Nebraska is and has been, what works for us. That's being physical, running the ball, and playing great defense. That's what won us national championships, and by the way, it's what won Florida and Alabama national championships the last few years too. have you heard of the names Helu and Burkhead? We have Running Backs (get the meaning of that word) to run the ball and they happen to be pretty damned good. don't need a QB to run to have a good running game

  6. I would agree that Watson is gone at the end of the year but not for reasons you are stating. It will be due to the fact that no Offensive Coordinator with his resume wants to stay at a job where he doesn't have a say in the offense. Bo is running his offense and it is not in line with Watson's. Watson would have Lee starting if it were his choice, Lee is 3rd. Watson isn't a bad coach. There are reasons why other great coaches at great programs want him (see Nick Saban). Why would he or should he stay at a place where the offensive philosophy is completely different that his. That is why he leaves, because he is a puppet, no more no less. I guess that really is along the same lines as your thought process. If I was Watson I would leave too.
  7. I am not arguing that Tmart is not the best choice for what Bo wants. I didn't word the thing as well as I would Like so I will try again. 1. I don't think Bo wants to lose anything. My point was more to the following. At some point I believe we are going to have to be able to throw the ball effectively to win games. It would be a travesty if Tmart was struggling to get it done and we didn't go to Lee at that point. Think about it though. Watson wanted Lee. What kind of mess would we have if Tmart struggled at Lee came in and saved the day. That is why Green is second. 2) the other things are true,, believe them or not. ganz doesn't like Lee. Lee graded out the best in fall. again, i am not saying Tmart isn't the best option, my question relates more to why Lee is 3rd and not 2nd. How does a guy that graded out first end up third string. Not starting I can see, but 3rd string come on. the only logical explanation is that since Bo made the call, he can't have the O-Coordinator's top choice coming in to save the day.
  8. Green is not better than Lee. In fact the grading process through the fall camp says that Green and Tmart are not better than Lee. Bo says they are because he likes their style and Bo is the only thought that counts. That being said, the "competition" throughout fall was graded and Lee had the best grade. Bo Liked the fact that Tmart beat his defense with his feet. Bo wants the kind of offense we are moving towards. Run first, run second, run last, and Tmart and Green do that better. Ganz doesn't like Lee Tmart threatens to take his ball and go home At the end of the day, Lee is 3rd. Not because he is worse but because.............................. 1. Bo wants a run first QB because he believes his Defense can win games and a runnin QB is what he wants 2. Lee can't be 2nd string because if he is it would create more of a QB controversy. If Tmart struggles the 2nd stringer comes in. If that is Lee and all of a sudden we get a few completions and Helu and Rex have success it will make the situation worse. Bo cannot have Lee coming in to save the day he simply can't. Not after overriding the O Coordinator's decision on starting QB and QB depth chart. The depth chart is completely reversed today than it would be if Watson made the decision. The saddest part is with our talent, our schedule, and all of the other positives we have for this year, we may very well throw a Big 12 and possibly a NC opportunity away because of our head coaches stubborness.
  9. and the offense is struggling at all, we will see Lee. bold prediction but I believe it will happen
  10. And....? So what? He's not stumbling and bumbling around out there. Let's put it this way - I don't care if this is true. I don't care if he threatened to take his ball and go home. I don't care if he threw a temper tantrum and skipped practice. It's not like this hasn't happened before. Martinez is starting, he's doing well, and he's clearly got skills. When his inexperience causes us to lose a game or two this year - and I believe it will - I won't throw him under the bus. He's a RFreshman and such things are bound to happen. Having inside information that a kid had a snit and threatened to transfer doesn't win you interwebz points. Boasting about it on a message board doesn't make you cool. It means you're doing something we know pisses Bo off, big time. I have a hard time respecting that. Im not breaking new news. retreaded info. I like Tmart, fast as hell, great with ball, fun to watch, young but growing up quick, very bright future. This thread was about Lee not talking and all I am saying is why should or would he. Tmart may cost us a game or 2 and that will suck because there is a chance of this being a special year. I think Tmart wins a game himself this year that Lee couldn't but the games we lose due to costly youngster mistakes I don't think Lee loses. that being said, tmart is our guy and i stand behind him. crouch took his ball and went home and i still backed him too
  11. As it stands this is a rumor. A true rumor or not, you can't be sure, but as Vince said, it's going to be greeted with skepticism. The only time it won't be greeted with skepticism? If we flop this year and people feel like criticizing the kid and the coach's decision. But I don't expect that to happen, and such things are not palatable at all to us Husker fans right now. But, I would just remind people that we should perhaps still be wondering what the heck happened with his missed practice. Sure it's none of our business, and we'll never know. But Taylor missed a practice for reasons that weren't explainable simply ('He had a test'), to the extent that Bo had to protect him. Prior to that he appeared to have been buried on the depth chart, handing off to scout team RBs in practice photos and from what we've heard, in line for a Wildcat package of plays this year. Afterwards, he shot up the depth chart and eventually was named starter. This was in a span of - 2 weeks? 1 week? Pretty remarkable. And that's something I hope I have patience for :/ Exactly and logic would also state if you are #1 on the depth chart you aren't looking to leave. 2 weeks into camp he is at a spot he doesn't like, misses practice, 2 weeks later he starts hmmmmmm
  12. Hi there, nice to meet you. I'm the Pope. Blessings on your day. If I said it this way is it better. The day someone missed practice, another player of the same position shared the info and the reason with me, which I then confirmed by asking another person who is involved in the program heavily, and furthermore confirmed it with another player as well. You dont have to believe me, but the truth usually comes out at some point so write this down. UCLA and San Diego State. it might mean something to you when the truth comes out Nobody is calling you a liar, but what you've just written means nothing. It's just words on a website, and anyone can write anything. You simply cannot expect to be taken seriously when you provide nothing. I understand that if you have legit info that you can't provide the name(s) who gave it to you, but at the same time you cannot expect to be taken at face value simply because you say "trust me." We don't know you from Adam, man. If "the truth" comes out and your version turns out to be true and the words UCLA and San Diego State are heavily involved, THEN you'll be believed. Until then, it's just another rumor. agreed, I just like knowing that I am right

  14. mumerous times that if Tmart struggles we stay the course. I ask you then why. Should we pass up a potentially magical season for the sake of making one player feel good. This season has a chance to be really special as the schedule sets up very nicely for us combined with the talent we have that won't or may not be here next year. It may not be Washington, but maybe KSU or TX or any other game where we can't pass and they are stuffing the run. I can't figure out why, as many of you suggest, we should stay the course and risk a magical season to make one person happy. We already named 1 person the starter to keep them happy
  15. Enhance, truth is truth. However, how I know it is truth is off limits. Why would i reveal that and then never get more info. It is the truth whether you want to believe it or not.
  16. He is more of a stand up guy than our starter, who after 2 weeks of fall practice, was not happy with his standing in the competition so he threatened to take his ball and go home. Look where he is now. Lee is a class act, but should threaten to quit, never know, might earn him the starters job Was this ever confirmed or is this still heresay? Truth

  18. Hold on a second now.... You are giving Cotton a pass but not Lee? We all know what an underperforming line can do to a QB's performance.... I don't think Nebraska has a shot at being big12 champs without a healthy and effective Lee. Don't understand what you took exception to, I was just saying not to count on dramatic O-line improvement with Barney at the helm. This is the most ludacrous argument around. If anyone but Zac starts we will struggle in our own division. If Zac starts we have a chance to win it all. You try throwing with a torn ligament in your elbow then come back and talk. By the way the injury occured in the 2nd game of the year. even missing an elbow ligament, Lee was 20 times the passer CG was. I have never seen so many 15 yard throws go 7 yard straight to the turf. Tmart will be a good runner but he is the worst passer of the group. Bottom Line, CG not that good. If he was the second coming like some of you think he would not be here. He would be at Texas. Tmart will never be the answer because he can't throw. I would trade 100 rushing yards from our QB for a QB who gets us 30-40 but can bring us back from 10 down in the 4th which TMart and CG cannot do. Lets see 3 and 13 down 10 with 6 minutes left. Are you really going to be happy when TMart or CG takes the snap and runs an option or a naked boot because we can't complete a pass. Those that Hope Tmart or CG start are those that could care less how the season goes because there is at least 4 losses with either one, but Lee gives us a chance to win them all
  19. All you Williams bashers, you do realize that he played from the Va. Tech game on with a torn Pectoral muscle. an injury that most sit out for and have surgery to repair. He however played and gutted his way through the season. What this should tell you is that our depth was pathetic because this kid had to play. Our best O lineman by far
  20. I keep hearing on here and other places that we are going to a run based offense and that Lee should leave because it fits Cody Green better. 1. Run based doesn't mean spread style or QB run (option). It very easily could mean I formation, tight sets with the passing game being play action based in the majority. 2. Run based fits Green, sure if it is spread. If it is option then it fits LW best and if it is I formation tight sets play action it fits Lee better than anyone. Zac Lee is going to start next year, and he will be improved. Will our offense be better, who knows, because there is a plethora of problems on our offense. 1. Our WR corp is not very good. combine bad routes with the dropsies and you have problems 2. Our RB were hurt all year. If they get hurt again next year we have the same issues as we are only solidly 2 deep. 3. Our O-Line is atrocious to put it mildly. Our most physical lineman (henry) excels in man blocking only and struggles with the rest. Our most heralded lineman (Hickman) really isn't very good at all. Mike Smith struggles in pass pro and run blocking. our RT was a revolving door of mediocre play, and LG was filled by a year long injured player. We have depth that is young but at this point our line is abysmal. 4. WR coaching and philosophy. I realize we want to BLOCK but damn, we have speed and talent somewhere there we just don't play them because they cant block. We didn't redshirt Bell, WHY? Niles Paul surely can't be our best and if he is then that falls on the coach as well because if he is our best we aren't recruiting any talent. 5. QB was bad no matter who played. I really think both get an unfair shake. Cody Green when he was in was not able to succeed at what he does best because of Problem 3 above along with #2. Zac Lee was not able to succeed because of problems 1-4. It is hard to be productive at QB, no matter what offense you run when your line is bad, your WR dont run good routes, sit in the zone, or catch the ball. Play action is out the window when your top 2 backs are out. and Defenses won't respect the run at all when the top 2 backs are out and they won't respect the pass when the can get to the Qb rushing 4 or when they know a simple blitz will confuse the line as well as the defense knowing that if the pass gets off they have a 50/50 chance of the WR dropping the pass. Our offense as a whole was bad. It depends on what type of offense we go to in determining what QB best fits it. the Alabama style is one i see a lot and if that is the case then Zac Lee is by far the best choice. but all of these offenses have things we don't Stanford - a durable 40 carry a game RB with an O-Line that run blocks extremely well (WE DONT QUALIFY) Alabama - a game breaking corp of RB, and a superstar WR surrounded by other playmaking WR and an O-Line that is exceptional. (AGAIN WE DONT QUALIFY) Florida - a great leader, a great line, great WR, and a QB that can run anywhere on the field. (NON QUALIFIER) pick an offense, it doesn't really matter. until our line improves dramatically and we get playmakers on the outside it won't matter what offense we run or what player runs it.
  21. all of you Lee bashers. He is going to be taking the snaps next year as well and deservedly so at this time. Here is why i believe this. 1. We will go in to next year with an offensive game plan very similar to the one we have now. Under center, power run based, play action passing game - Suites Lee much better than Green. 2. We will not turn into a spread team because a) we dont have the talent to run the spread B) if we were going to morph towards a spread type offense then Gabbert would not be our primary target. 3. In any offense you have to be able to throw the ball with some efficiency. Lee does that for us and Green does not. I think Lee is slowly getting it. i think he will very much mirror Zac Taylor in his progression. Now i can see Spano getting the snaps over Lee but not Green If Green gets the nod I will be happy also, because i believe in our coaching staff.
  22. I love how everyone has selective memory simply to mitigate their own stance on any given situation. 1. The ball was underthrown to NP i agree but the ball was in stride to NP against Iowa St and he fumbled it. 2. The ball was a little short and to the back shoulder of NP against KU, i agree, but the ball to Holt in the VT game was in stride just dropped 3. The ball was overthrown to McNeill, agreed, but early in the year their was a deep pass to CG that hit him in stride. The point is, it happens both ways. yet we want to throw comments around like he never hits them in stride, it is always short blah blah blah. The fact is that for every instance you want to throw out it can be counter balanced with an instance from the opposite point of view
  23. and start this weeks thread about 1. How Zac Lee sucks 2. How Cody could have made all the plays Zac did and then some 3. How every throw was behind the WR 4. How he got sacked once on a play where Vick couldn't have escaped 5. How Cody is getting screwed 6. Poll who starts at QB for KSU 7. How Zac did everything wrong and the the rest of the offense bailed us out etc. etc. etc.
  24. Agree with everything but having Lee in... Green needs to be in and using playaction for him to boot off of giving a run pass option yeah a high school offense that calls for the same play over and over is going to help. The problem with yur idea is that KU will eventually (after 3 or 4 plays at the latest) take away the run portion of that option thus forcing him to pass which in all likelihood will lead to several turnovers which inevitably will cost us the game
  25. Carlfense, I agree, and they are significantly different against so called "real" opponents. I should have put them in their as well but i was simply defending the Cody is better than Zac premise. The facts are that neither is very good right now. What bothers me the most is that if you take this year out and go back over the last 2 years of journalistic reporting you will see multiple times where it is said that Lee isn't ready yet because he doesn't know the plays and because HE HAS A GUNSLINGER MENTALITY AND TAKES TOO MANY CHANCES what bothers me is where has that gone. what took that out of him. i would love to see him go out take snaps and have a gunslinger mentality. i wish i knew or you knew or anyone knew where that mentality went. Finally, Lee has been far worse against BCS teams than the Sun-Belt teams but the truth always lies somewhere in the middle. and although they are sunbelt teams he has looked damned good at times against them throwing short, intermediate, and long balls. unfortunately the biggest problem with Lee is a complete lack of confidence not talent
