  1. Read some of the quotes from our players after the game. The Arizona players were behaving the same way. EA asked Suh why he was still in the game so late in a blowout and he said he wanted it to be absolutely clear who the best team on the field was last night, because they had no respect for us at all. The Wildcats were "talking, talking, talking" according to Asante, all game long. They had no respect for us and it showed in how they approached the game. Their fans have no respect for us, and it shows in their lack of knowledge about the game and our players.

Reminds me of the story told during the broadcast about the last time Arizona got blown out like last night. Came into LSU thinking they were hot sh#t, jumping up and down on the logo. A team that LSU was fully prepared to overlook ('Zona was 3-8 the previous season), suddenly got the full attention of an angry defense. 45-3 was the result that night. If they want to talk, maybe they should try doing something before talking. At least Georgia scored before they danced on the Florida logo.

  2. Man, I'd want to go to Oregon too. Screw good teams or the NFL or whatever, those training facilities are freaking amazing.

And based on early results, it looks like I could start on a Pac 10 defense. This guy will be all conference when he walks in the door.

  3. Dont want to damper anyone's Christmas Eve, but REALITY (and pure numbers) says that both BYU and Utah are extremely BETTER on offense than NU. Anyone comparing the last 2 games is comparing apples to oranges.

Our offense is horrible and at this point, what indicates that it will change?

    * NU will win, but by the same formula it has.......DEFENSE, short field, FG, and special teams.

Nah, Utah's offense has been mediocre (OK I guess that is still much better than Nebraska). However, it is likely that Arizona is much better defensively than either of those dogs that the Pac 10 trotted out there the past 2 nights. So I wouldn't read too much into those games (though it is hilarious).

  4. Well it's the rare freshman that can address those issues. There are of course exceptions, but you are recruiting for your needs a couple of years out. If there is really a problem for next year at WR or QB (there is no RB issue), the answer has just finished his JUCO season. Since we haven't seen a bunch of offers in that area, I'm going to guess they aren't too worried.

  5. I don't know about the whole revenue sharing thing. I wonder what the Big10's various schools "really" think about it?

If you're a successful sports school and you're sharing revenue with one that sucks wind every single year, why in the hell do you want to give them a share of the pot, equally, when they have done nothing to earn it???

Which begs the question (previously posed by Stewart Mandel) Why exactly would the Big 10 want another school besides Notre Dame? All of the options discussed publicly thus far are revenue drains.

  6. It can't hurt that Bo is from Ohio, but we have not recruited Ohio well at all, in the past. If Bo wants to start reeling in the Ohio talent, he will have to win here and then take the OSU job. He'll definitely pull them in then.

Nah, after Nebraska joins the Big 10, they'll start reeling 'em in. :sarcasm

As I mentioned before, Michigan used to make a living recruiting Ohio. Obviously, they have the advantage of distance, but given their recent history, Nebraska may be well-suited to at least get a few of those kids.

  7. So who exactly is on the top of our wish list? This guy Smith? Suntrup? Or the heavy husker lean Turner?

    My guess would be Turner.

Well it should be very interesting thats for sure. I have never heard of this Brett Smith guy but looks really good! Any chance we possibly pick up 2 qb's in this class? I mean other schools do it, why not us?

I think it is likely we get 2 QBs in 2011 especially if we do not pick up one in 2010. However, I think there is the potential for one to be a JUCO depending if Spano can ever get back from his injury.

  8. The point is he is trying to establish a culture here. There isn't a short term fix that can be successful if you compromise your principles. It will come back and bite your ass. So no tricking kids into coming here; no special exceptions for the starting LB or RB. If you are successful, you can be proud you did it the right way and don't have to explain your actions 20 years later. IF you fail, at least you can sleep at night knowing you put what was important first.

  9. I remember when we were incredibly excited about our #5 recruiting class in 2005. I remember when Colorado was excited about their #15 recruiting class in 2008 and Darrell Scott. I remember when KSU was excited about their #18 class in 2004. I could go on.

I am surprised that so many are this interested in (or concerned about) Missouri's recruiting. We'll see what happens when some of these players actually take the field.

Nonsense. Ten or twenty years from now, Missourians will look at that Big 12 North Recruiting Champion banner hanging in the stadium and think back with pride. :sarcasm

  10. We'll probably get a Kody Spano type who either just got screwed over by his BCS school or is committed to a lesser non-BCS school. There are only a few tempting targets that are not yet committed and most of them are not waiting on a Nebraska offer. Unfortunately that ship seems to have sailed. OTOH I wouldn't shut the door on JUCO QB just yet as that is really the level at which we need depth.

  11. Chris is a 4* talent with a 1/2* desire to play football. That probably sums up why he was let go.

:yeah I was kind of shocked that he wasn't ready to go at some point this fall. Word is he didn't put in the work for the rehab. Looked like he could have been special. Oh well.

As far as JUCO LB impacting his decision, I'd guess it was vice versa. The staff knew Williams didn't want to be here so they found someone who might contribute in a way they figured Williams would be.

  12. And now they report that Miss State leads solidly. I think we'll wait until he takes all of his officials before we read too much into this one.

    committed to Louisville

He also told Scout he'd take all his visits before doing anything. :dunno As always, remember these are just teenagers.

  13. Not much. Plans an official to West Virginia. Likes how they "throw the ball a lot." (Speaking of offenses changing their identity. Guess I haven't watched too many WVU games this year.) Nebraska is in his group of leaders.
