  1. Misery has been crying for years about going to the Big 10, which won't happen because they bring nothing to the table.

Besides the KC and St. Louis TV markets which is what the Big 10 is really interested in. Pick the schools with the greatest TV ratings outside of the Big 10's current markets, and you'll have the list of schools that will be evaluated.

  2. I'd definitely like to see a pipeline opened to that school. They are always one of the top teams in the state though I think it is a lower division. Also a lot of the kids at the schools in the northern part of the state are not automatic commits to tOSU, as that was traditionally a big Michigan recruiting area. With Mich down, we might be able to get a toe hold in that area.

  3. decommitted from LSU and committed to Texas

Whoa, Les Miles's seat must be getting close to Blistering right about now.

I see a move to Michigan in the very near future for ol' Les. Saban and Mack are cleaning his clock.

  4. Notre Dame tailback Jonas Gray latest with hamstring issue

    Share |

We've heard of teams pulling together, but not quite like this.

Another hamstring issue has hit the Notre Dame depth chart, as sophomore tailback Jonas Gray suffered a muscle pull or strain or tweak during practice Wednesday, an Irish spokesman confirmed.

The exact extent of the injury isn't known, spokesman Brian Hardin said in an email, and it probably won't be available or revealed until Thursday. It's the second hamstring issue to, well, hamstring the Irish in a week, with cornerback Darrin Walls already hobbled by a "tweak" suffered Sunday.

The good news, at least from Notre Dame's perspective, is that Gray's injury is much like Walls' -- it occurs to a player in a position group with substantial depth. Armando Allen is the solid No. 1 starter and Gray was merely in the mix to compete for backup carries with Robert Hughes.

  5. Committed to Mizzou

From the kid who a couple days ago said he was gonna take a step back now from recruiting and sort of, ya know, evaluate, ya know, everything and different schools that would talk to him, ya know.

ya know, I didnt really, ya know believe him ya know. Ya know it isnt unlike him ya know to go off half cocked and not think before he speaks ya know and make a big decision ya know.

Ya know, I would've thought, given their, ya know, past experience, his, ya know, parents, would have sort of cautioned him to, ya know, commit without, ya know, taking time to, umm, think.

That being said, everyone please, ya know, wait to get really nasty until after, ya know, signing day. No reason to, ya know, sink to their, ya know, level.

  6. Youngstown Cardinal Mooney used a punishing defense and the all-around play of dynamic senior two-way back Braylon Heard to crush Columbus St. Francis DeSales 35-7 in the Division III state championship Friday morning at Massillon Paul Brown Tiger Stadium.

Mooney held DeSales to just 106 yards of total offense during the first three quarters while unleashing its power running game. Heard was the catalyst, rushing for 173 yards and two touchdowns while also throwing a touchdown pass and adding an interception. As a team, Mooney rushed for over 275 total yards.

For those that have it, Sportstime Ohio is re-showing the game, Ohio Division III championship, at noon eastern, 12/18.

  7. N.C.A.A. Puts Tennessee's Recruiting Under Scrutiny

The N.C.A.A. is conducting a wide-ranging investigation into the University of Tennessee's football recruiting practices, according to interviews with several prospects, their family members and high school administrators. A significant part of the investigation is focused on the use of recruiting hostesses who have become folk heroes on Tennessee Internet message boards for their ability to help lure top recruits.

    ...

Interviews with multiple recruits and their family members revealed that the N.C.A.A. has strong interest in Tennessee's use of recruiting hostesses, students who are part of a formal group at the university that hosts all manner of prospective students at campus visits, including athletes. It is not clear whether the university sent the hostesses to visit the football players.

In one case, hostesses traveled nearly 200 miles to attend a high school game in South Carolina in which at least three Tennessee recruits were playing.

Marcus Lattimore, a running back who made an unofficial visit to Tennessee but said he would not enroll there, said multiple Tennessee hostesses attended a game at James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C., in September. He said they brought signs, including one that read, "Come to Tennessee."

"I haven't seen no other schools do that," he said. "It's crazy."

The hostesses are considered representatives of the university, which would mean they could not recruit players off campus. Therefore, the visits may be considered violations of N.C.A.A. recruiting rules.

Two of Lattimore's teammates, Brandon Willis and Corey Miller, have orally committed to Tennessee. Lattimore described the hostesses as "real pretty, real nice and just real cool." He said he thought they had "a lot" of influence in Miller's and Willis's commitments to Tennessee.

  8. Name one team that switched from spread to power in one year with the same coaching staff.

    Ohio State

QB Craig Krenzel, Zwick - Power

    QB Troy Smith - Spread

    QB Boeckman - Power

QB Pryor - Spread and then right back to Power once they figured out he can;t throw a forward pass accurately.

I believe we could have a similar list for LSU.

  9. They didn't gift them sh#t...they gave them the second they deserved. You didn't even need replay to see it if you were watching on TV. What you're saying is you'd rather have a win by screwing Texas out of their deserved chance at the FG than taking the risk of letting them win in a legit fashion. How wonderful.

:yeah we blew this game, not the officials. Other than the PI and the lack of holding calls in the Big 12 (Nebraska held several times as well), I didn't really have an issue with officiating.

That being said I think we should be feeling great we did not get waxed in this game like the previous Big 12 north pretenders.

  10. Umm, you all do realize this offense lost the starting QB, the backup QB, the starting WRs, the starting RB, a backup RB, and how many starting OLs from last year's team? The same one that finished in the top 20 of all major offensive categories besides rushing? With WRs who can runs routes and a QB who is in anyway accurate (Gabbert), this offense will be just fine.

  11. I live about 4 blocks from there.

Basically, it is considered the center of town in Omaha.

I've lived here for 12 years, and was there for our last national championship.

    It was absolutely crazy.

Somehow, these guys had managed to scale the big crossroads sign and were standing on top of it shouting and working the crowd.

You couldn't drive through there and police were on horseback just watching the whole thing.

News media were on sight at every corner and it was a blast.

I don't think we do this for a win against Texas though, it's just an Omaha thing for a national championship in my opinion.

:yeah we were running down the middle of Dodge giving people in the parked cars high fives as traffic was stopped in all directions.

Most towns have areas where this sort of thing happens. I think it was 16th street in Denver when the Broncos won the Super Bowl. Lots of pepper spray that night.
