I know I said this awhile back (and maybe in his recruiting profile) he dude is a guard. He shouldn't be playing tackle in the Big 10. I watched live many times and thought the same thing in HS. I think he would be a great guard. Right now he is a below average tackle.

I wish I had faith in the thought of moving him one position over would make a difference...but I just don't see it.

  2. I am starting this topic to see if my views are shared or maybe I'm way off base. To me Matt seems in way over his head and I can't believe we don't have someone that is a better option. I'm by no means an offensive line guru, but his poor play sticks out like a sore thumb. For 2 years I've consistently seen him whiffing blocks, getting turned around,  just not blocking anyone, or laying on the ground. Last week he had a Jake Cotton'esk moment where he completely missed an assignment that led to Martinez getting blown up, which resulted in Martinez fumbling and to add insult to injury Matt Farniok comes flying in stumbling and landed on top of Martinez at the plays end. If it wasn't so frustrating, it would have been pure comedy.

Please tell me if anyone else sees this, the coaches see this and do we have somebody else to put in there?

I guess I didn't feel like I was in a position to make that judgment from behind my TV set, but I suppose you could be totally right.

I am assuming some of that yes, but when you are looking right at your QB and know you are his #1 target given how the play is developing and the pass hits you dead in the hands and you drop it, i have to assume its a lack of focus.

I made a bunch of posts yesterday in one of the threads where somebody had posted the 40 minute version of the game. I set the video to the specific time of specific plays (can't remember which thread it was now).

On the re-watch, I didn't see any kind of lack of effort. Martinez had a couple of missed passes on our second possession - how in the hell is that any kind of example of "not knowing how to win?" Same goes for the pass that went through Wan'Dale's hands. You think that kid isn't laser focused and playing with intensity to go out there and do whatever he can to win the game?

A couple series later, our receivers make a tremendous effort to block on the edge and Washington makes an incredible display of individual athleticism to scorch CU for a long touchdown.

I think it was just a small run of bad luck on two or three series in the opening of the third quarter. If the team had no idea how to come out with intensity, being focused on winning, would we have been 17-0 at half? Probably not; we probably would have been down 17-0.

Wandale had two passes in the game that were right in his hands that he dropped. Both you could tell he just wasn't focused. Freshman mistakes but if you're out there you better be ready and focused every time.

I want to see Mills come in this week and find holes and come up big for us with the interior running. That would feel amazing and would totally change the dynamic of the offense.

Washington might have to stop shying away from contact a bit, also. I know his big strengths lie in cutting it outside but we just have to get something going in the running game here that resembles more of last season.

This would require some sort of blocking.

I think we will be better off with W. Farniok and a full game of Washington. I was hoping that Raridon and even Sichterman would get a chance to see if they could help or not.

Let's hope Will isnt taking pointers from his brother.

Frost lost us that game. He squandered an amazing opportunity to put it away in the 3rd, and he completely botched his end of the game management. That game should've been something along the lines of 34-10 if it wasn't for Frost's coaching. That was ugly and frustrating as hell and, weird, even now with a new coach and all this hype, our program is still snakebit the exact same way it has been since 2001.

I cant agree more. That was real ugly and a head scratcher. I'm dismayed and dont really know what to think. My son was balling at the end of the game and I was just in shock that we managed to squander a 17 pt lead.
