The line is higher than I thought it would be (Now at -41.5).  I really don't know what side I like.  I can see NU scoring on most of their possessions and I can also see B-C scoring in the 4-6 times as well.

I also kind of think there is a chance that Frost does everything he can to make sure this score is not a 70-14 type game.

Why wouldnt he want that? Get the backups some experience and much needed confidence. Much of our problem of the last 10-15 years is a lack of killer instinct. Up by 3 or up by 50 we should be running our offense and trying to score. This instills the mentality we need to have if we are ever going to return to the national table.

You don’t have enough information to determine whether it’s statistically impossible (if you’re trying to say it’s bias against Nebraska). We don’t know how often offensive holding is called on pass plays overall, and we don’t know how often holding actually occurs.

Here is a link that has some info on all offensive holding calls from 2015-2017. Nebraska isn’t even ranked at the bottom for holds per play defended. Michigan is. We’re ranked 11th out of 14. And at the top are the Big Ten darlings Indiana and Minnesota.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good conspiracy. I've got my tinfoil hat folded all nice and neat and am close to putting it on.

Speechless......I surely hope these stats make their way to the league office. Its statistically impossible. There is a better chance of winning the lottery than this happening by chance.

Hard to say because matchups are so different, but Minnesota's D Line held Ohio State to 92 rushing yards. They're not great, but they're not terrible, & Fleck is a good coach, so I'd say this was a decently quality win for our O Line.

We'll see if they can do it two games in a row against a weak BCU team, and again the week after against Ohio State.

I think our line is getting better as the season goes on, which is much better than the regression we've seen in years past.

Agreed. The Ohio State game scares me a lot now that they lost. It seems every time a Urban coached team loses they come out and go on a rampage the rest of the season. They will be throwing flea flickers up by 50 with 30 seconds to go in order to secure their playoff spot. I would have rather seen them play close game after close game sleep walking through till they get to us.

    1.  We learned that the rumors about the B1G's officiating being terrible are very true:

How this is even possible at any point confounds me.  This is virtually and statistically impossible.

This is an amazing stat. Not in a good way. Where did you find this? This just further bolsters what we know about the officiating. This is absolutely impossible without some sort of predetermined bias. It would be impossible for every reffing crew we have had over the past two years to not call a hold on a pass play, unless it was coordinated. IMPOSSIBLE.

Milton in year 2 was the tremendously better than Milton in year 1. How good will Martinez be next year?

He is good, but he will only be as good as our offensive line will allow. They will get him killed if they don't keep executing. My suspicion is our line looked good because MN just isn't that good.

  7. This game still burns me up from a lack of penalty calls on NW, specifically holding. Just for reference:

NW had an 11% increase in the number of offensive plays they ran on average.

A 30% increase in pass attempts from what they ran on average.

An 86% DECREASE in # of penalty yards from what they averaged.

I agree we suck, but that was a heist by the officials. 1 or 2 obvious holding calls late in that game would have made the difference. Instead they were focused on borderline tick tack crap Nebraska was doing.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think Ozigbo has a chance to be an excellent NFL running back. He is powerful and has the ability to make people miss. He will be a great NFL running back.

He may play a few seasons, but he will not be a GREAT NFL back. He doesn't have the break away speed to be considered great. IMHO

Witnessing that game in person Saturday, I am 100% convinced that there was a real effort by the officials to side with NW on penalty calls.  Now, I don't believe the BIG hates Nebraska or refs hold grudges and I am not some crazy conspiracy theorist.  I do, however, have eyes and what they saw was atrocious.  I'm getting annoyed with people chalking it ALL up to bad coaching, dumb or undisciplined players, etc. Sure, there was some of that, but its not that NW is just some perfectly disciplined team and we just suck.  It's hard to overcome biased officiating, I don't care who you are.  As to what was the driving factor behind the officiating I witnessed?  I don't know, but I have my theories.

We suck and we suck bad.  But I am not naive enough to think there isn't some chicanery going on and I don't believe this is specific to just Nebraska. That would be ludicrous. However, there is too much money involved in CFB for their not to be a real opportunity for some refs to make extra $$$ and the easiest way would be by not making calls on one side or the other.

When there are 64 pass attempts and not a single hold....I'm gonna question that one.

And I used to think everyone played by the rules and cheaters never win, then I turned 13.

To keep us down.  The refs in the game today probably went to the schools we were beating 56-0 back in the day.  People can, and do, hold grudges for a lifetime.

I can attest to that. My wife is a prime example....

Most winless teams get destroyed week after week. We haven't - we're literally 3 boneheaded mistakes away from 3-3. 0-6 looks bad, but we're a lot better than the record indicates.

Optimistically thinking but maybe, just maybe this is what the team needs to learn? 1 mistake can cost us a game (looking at you kick Mr. Pickering, XP would have sealed this game) which means this team needs to finish every play as if it were their last...unless you are rushing the QB then just quit half way there to avoid a penalty.
