I do say I feel a little bad for Frost right now. He is taking alot of heat for problems he did not create. I guess thats what $5 million gets you is pressure. But I do feel bad for the fact he has a crappy team and he has to answer for it. 3 games in I dont think is his problem yet.

I agree with everything here. In my mind this year was going to be a bust regardless of coach. He just needs to get some things going in the right direction. I would love to make a bowl game because we desperately need the practice. However, that is looking more and more unlikely.

    What an absolute frustrating play.

Both Young and Mo are pathetic on this play.  First, I'm guessing Young is coached to at least get to the outside to not let the RB get the edge and push him back into help defense.  In theory, I don't have  problem with that.   But, he gets too far out side and can't recover.

Mo, just basically sits there and allows himself to get blocked.  I usually love Mo and think he gives great effort, but, on this play, he is extremely late to react and allows the O lineman to get a very easy block on him.

Young should have crashed that gap. The corner already had sealed the play from going outside. Young looks lost or afraid of making contact. It almost looked purposeful the more I watch it.

  3. There are plenty of reasons we could lose to Purdue. The biggest reason literally and figuratively is the offensive line, whose play has been offensive. At some point that group has got to get it going. There are plenty of things wrong with this team but it starts with them. If they can't get it going, we will lose again.

  4. Bo Pelini is the answer to this. Did he deserve to be fired? Yes. Was it because of his record? Sorta. Was it because of his antics? In part. Was it because of blowout losses and mental ineptitude of the team? Absolutely.

However, to follow firing Bo up with hiring Michelle O'Reilly is really head scratching. For all of Bo's faults, you dont fire that guy unless you have a homerun hire lined up. So yes, we fired Bo to early and should have just rode him out until we had the right replacement.

The 19th-ranked Wolverines have been flagged 27 times for 244 yards, ranking it 118th nationally in fewest penalty yards given up per game (81.3).

Only eight other FBS teams with three games under their belt are worse, including one from the Big Ten (Purdue, 81.7). Nebraska, having played just two games this season, ranks 122nd (86.0).

So you are saying to expect a really clean penalty free game?

  6. I learned we do not have athletes on our offensive line. It doesn't matter how "seasoned" that group is, they are just plain terrible. Andrew Bunch......he is a walk-on QB and it shows. He is doing what he can but he just doesn't have the skills to make this offense go and his line doesn't do him any favors. Defensively....I just cant even come up with anything to explain it. Its just bad and we are going to get absolutely abused this year.

Before the season I thought we would get to 6 wins. After 2 games....we will be lucky to win one.

I get your point on the oline. But most people- and not just husker people would say Phillips may have been one of the best talents they had ever seen at runningback. He got a little sideways with trouble when he got to the NFL. AG went on to be the all time leading rusher in packers history. So that is further evidence it was not just subjective or the husker olines. Helu and burkhead are in the NFL but they are not on the same level.

If I could +100 this comment I would. Burkhead didn't/doesn't have breakaway speed. Helu didn't have the physicality of LP and AG who also had breakaway speed. Helu and Burkhead were good...very good. LP and AG were G.O.A.T.s. End of conversation.

  8. From a food standpoint most people will say get a Runza.....from personal experience they taste like they sound....so consider yourself warned. But to be a true Big Red fan you need to have one at least once, I guess. If your going to stay you might as well stay somewhere close to the stadium and just spend the money. The Embassy Suites or Marriott (Cornhusker) are probably your best options.

You can tailgate but its a little different than most places and spread out in business parking lots. Do not walk around with an open container. Lincoln has done a tremendous job with the Haymarket district just West of the stadium and that's where I typically go and just hit the bar scene. But if you're looking to tailgate I am sure you can hook up with someone somewhere, especially if you know someone local who has a spot.

Lastly, give yourself time to walk around the stadium and take pictures. Depending on the amount of time you will be here you could go the day before or even after the game when there aren't 100,000 people doing the same thing.

  9. All I know is that I have goosebumps just thinking about seeing Frost come out of the tunnel again. They should do flashbacks in the video of him walking out the tunnel as a player. Have a glitch of static then show him in 97 then a glitch of static and back to the actual tunnel walk. I think it would be pretty sweet.

Agreed. The closer and closer we get the more great things we hear about Frost. Heupuls comments you talked about, the BTN tour and just hearing from the man himself it just seems like he can't fail. We may have failures, but ultimately will not fail it feels under this staff. If we really have the talent we have on paper we could definitely surprise this year

Its all about the attitude he and his staff brings. They refuse to lose. The "day by day" mentality is ingrained in them. He says it all the time, he wears shirts that have the phrase on it. Its not just something he says, he lives it and that is why he is going to be special.
