  1. Deacon here. First, jauken - I'm sorry I missed you. I look forward to catching up on my next trip to Lincoln. It was a great college football gameday. Very exciting for us to have Nebraska in town. Again, I salute WF and Nebraska for making this happen. Not many of the traditional powers would travel to Winston to play in a 32,000-seat stadium (ND has rebuffed us for decades now), but NU did it, and we appreciate it. I enjoyed meeting a number of Husker fans on Friday and Saturday. The crowd was great. Very spirited and excited, especially when all of us were wilting in 90-degree glaring heat. I wish it had been a night game! As Jauken said, it was "perfect storm" of having a big crowd, construction going on, and the heat . . .that made for a circus. The concession stuff was terrible, without question. We're used to that size crowd (we averaged 32,500 last year, just below what we had on Saturday), but it was just a mismanagement situation. Sorry to all those whose game experience was affected by that stuff. Congrats to the Huskers for a hard-fought win. We've very disappointed here, but also know that we lost to a good team and that we still have an opportunity to have a great season. Go Huskers the rest of the way! And join us again in Winston-Salem anytime you can.
  2. Thanks, Maryland Husker. As the time gets closer, I'll make sure myself and some other Deacs post some area-specific info for the weekend, as well as some tailgating locations. One thing that's nice about the small size of our stadium is that all of the tailgating is fairly centralized. I know that NU folks booked Ernie Shore Stadium (the baseball stadium where our minor league team plays, which is actually owned by WFU) as the pregame festivities location . . .that will be a fun spot.
  3. Wake fan here. Looking forward to having some of Husker Nation in Winston-Salem in a few weeks. I was in Lincoln in 2005 and had a great time, despite the shellacking on the field. For those who bought season tickets to get the WF/NU ticket . . .above ("Tickets for Kids") is an option to donate the remaining 5 games to local kids through BB/BS. Certainly a great cause, and for those who do that to help the local kids, thank you. If, however, for some reason you need to get some money out of your tickets, let me know. I and some fellow Deacs are buying extra tickets for the remaining games to give away and have for friends. Send me a private message if interested. See you in a few weeks at Groves Stadium . . .
  4. Hey Huskers - Wake fan here. Many of us enjoyed our trip to Lincoln in '05 (despite the obvious outcome of the game), and look forward to having you in Winston-Salem for the game. I was a big fan of the Nebraska gameday experience, and I enjoyed meeting some of the long-time Husker fans around Memorial Stadium. Even in ACC basketball territory, we have a lot of fun with football. Wake is the 3rd smallest Division I football program, but under Coach Grobe's leadership we've been amazingly competitive in the ACC . . .certainly capped by our dream season last year. We're in the midst of a major stadium renovation that will be evident when you're here. But Groves Stadium is a small, cozy venue, and it will be a great atmosphere on September 8, for sure. As for the tickets, it looks like on the Classifieds board there is an option to donate the remaining 5 games of your ticket package to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program here in Winston-Salem. For all those who take advantage of that, thank you for supporting the local kids. If for some reason you need to get some money out of your tickets, let me know. I and some fellow Deacs are going to buy some extra tickets and give them away for some of the remaining games. See you in a few weeks . . .
