I know its year 1 and I shouldn't have any expectations, but I am going to be very disappointed if we don't win those 3 + Northwestern.
Same. We've become so used to losing that we excused it for the last two hires when they had bad losses out of the gate.

College football's post-spring SP+ rankings and takeaways
The transfer portal is slowing down, media days are around the corner and with all due respect to Week 0 -- I love it dearly, just as much as all the other weeks -- we're officially 100 days from Sept. 2, the first real Saturday of the 2023 college football season.
It seems like a pretty good time, then, to get up to date on the numbers. Since February's initial 2023 SP+ release, we've seen a number of transfers and big moves, and I've been able to better update returning production figures to account for teams' official roster releases. (Not many had released full rosters in early February.) We haven't seen much movement at the very top of the rankings, but there's plenty to talk about.

No fact can sum up the program's recent plunge better than this: Nebraska will head into this season as the only Power Five program to have not reached at least one bowl game since 2016.

Matt Rhule experienced the lingering power of the Nebraska brand during his three-year run as the head coach at Baylor, when assistants bearing the school logo would gain entry to some of the top programs and best prospects in Texas nearly a generation after the program’s last breath of national relevance.
"The Nebraska ‘N’ means something," Rhule told USA TODAY Sports. "It means something across the world."
For a self-described "developmental coach" known for his building and rebuilding projects at Temple and with the Bears, Rhule’s decision to become the Cornhuskers’ next coach represents a dramatic leap into one of the most high-pressure, well-resourced positions in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Multiple attempts at replicating the program’s decades-long run as college football royalty have yielded increasingly bigger misfires, none more painful than the recent four-plus seasons under former coach Scott Frost. The school’s search for Frost’s replacement zeroed in on Rhule, who was fired in October by the Carolina Panthers less than midway through his third season.
Now, for the first time as a college head coach, Rhule has taken the reins of a program with three coveted assets: an extensive support system, a rich history and immense expectations. After the bitter disappointment of the five-season Frost era, these expectations have roared back to life in the past six months.

The Athletic canned it's State Of The Program feature... which sucks because I enjoyed the deep dives that they did.

Yeah but the rush is still to be the first one out or almost the first one out.
Back in the day I used to LOVE to get these mags...head over to the pool with a few beers and get my bronze on while reading about all the teams.
Never dd I think there would be a day where NU was the "blurb team"
Yup, I posted screen caps, but I'll really dive in Memorial Day weekend. Kids will be done with sports, and I'll be able to hang out by the pool and chill.

That's a nice photo of #2 returning passing leader Casey Thompson.
Yup, it's a tough deal for these guys trying to go to press and be in store shelves by Memorial day. I almost wonder if they don't go ahead and wait until after the window closes in April to send to press.

Athlon Sports: Big Ten Football 2023 Predictions
The race to win the Big Ten Conference in the 2023 season starts where it ended the last two years. Michigan is once again the team to beat under coach Jim Harbaugh, and the Wolverines enter '23 with a clear goal of getting to the national championship and bringing a trophy home to Ann Arbor. But Harbaugh's team has plenty of company in the East Division with Ohio State and Penn State both expected to be CFB Playoff contenders this fall. The outlook in the West Division is a little more unsettled. Although Wisconsin tops Athlon's predictions as the favorite in the division, Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota all have enough pieces to push for the top spot. Nebraska isn't ready to challenge for the West Division title under new coach Matt Rhule, but the Cornhuskers will be an intriguing team to watch this fall.
How does Athlon Sports project the Big Ten for 2023? Steven Lassan predicts and ranks the East and West Divisions in the Big Ten for this fall:
