Ebyl- very good points EXCEPT Brown and Stoops took over the same situation as Callahan. They just do a lot better of executing. Callahan was replacing Solich, not TO. How long will you except less than a BCS game? I am serious. Maybe I am too hard on BC. So how long do you feel we should give him to make a BCS game?

Why would this be shut down? We seem to be using the board exactly what it is for. I will agree to be quiet under 1 condition. Someone please tell me at what point he would be considered the wrong coach and when we can critisize his mistakes? We do pay for the tickets and his salary. I already promised to disappear if we win 10 games. But I will quiet down if you tell me when it is ok to tell him to "take a hike" Specifically please?

Ebyl-This is how you have a light spirited, easy going friendly debate which is what I am trying to do. I make a point, you rebut that point. I show evidence, you bring counter evidence. I am not rambling random anecdotes as you suggest. I don't understand the anger towards me. I have no ill feeling or will towards anyone. I am bringing up why I think we still have the wrong coach. Please tell me why you believe he can win a championship. He is making us better than we were 3 years ago. That's nice but not good enough. Can we be elite with a coach who only had 2 years coaching experience where he took over an elite team, went to the Super Bowl as an 8 pt favorite only to get outcoached by the previous Raider coach and got smaked by 27. Then he followed up with a 4-12 season. I am still looking for a sign he is the best option.

Seriously? OK, please enlighten me as to why evidence suggest Callahan is the right coach for NU. Long term not just to make the Holiday or Cotton Bowl.

Well it proves 1 thing, it doesn't ALWAYS take time like has been suggested by those who said it did for TX and OU. It only took time when they HAD THE WRONG COACH. Does anyone realize that each championship since our had been won by a coach who was less than 5 years to the program aside from Mack Brown? And we all know Mack Brown never won fewer than 9 games. It doesn't take 7-10 years anymore with the right coach.

How long is it until he "proves he can't win"? How long should we wait? I think he definitely deserves this year. Also, I have put plenty of time, money and energy into this program. Regardless of the fact that I am probably more invested than at least 90% of the people here, EVERYONE should be able to voice their opinion on the direction of the team. Not just the largest boosters.

I think we are doing better and many of you pointed out TX and OU needing to rebuild. And they had coaches who didn't work. So they looked until they found the right one. I am concerned we don't have the right one. If you consider how quickly the "right" coach can prove themselves. UT's 7 seasons prior to Mack Brown they had a winning % of 57%. About Callahan's record. Mack Brown took over a team that went 4-7 before he got there. Mack Brown has NEVER won fewer than 9 games in any year at TX. OU's previous 2 coaches had a 39% winning %. OU got Stoops and he took over a 5-6 program. In year 2 he won the National title. He has won 11 games or more 6 out of 8 seasons. These examples show it can be done quickly with the right guy in the right program. Also, it proves that a coach can take over a bad program and "other people's players" and adjust and make it work. The right coach doesn't have 7-10 years anymore. You are talking about TO in the 70's. This is a totally different era guys.

Nobody answered my question. Will you still support him if we go 8-4? Remember our schedule is in our favor this year. USC at home, and the North is awful. Sam Keller is a STUD and he will destroy all the passing marks from Taylor last year. Keller will throw at least 25 TD's. And before BC gets the credit he did that in 7 games at ASU. And it's not inflammatory at all. It is stating my obvious opinion. And yes each of us fans can create enough momentum to make a change. Solich is living proof. Lastly, perhaps I am a booster with influence. Then again, maybe not. I am probably just a HUGE fan like each of you. At least we can all agree on that. We each love Husker football and we are psyched about tomorrow.

Here is the obvious: Teams who beat OU since 2004 that we should beat: UCLA Tx Tech Oregon Boise St BCS game participants since 2004 that we should beat: Utah Pitt Penn St Wake Forest Boise St. Don't let me hear conference excuses or "Lucky". We play in the North and Luck is detrermined when talent meats opportunity.

Alabama has weak talent right now, their team did terrible the last few seasons and they have a new coach in the toughest conference in football. How long will it be before they finish in the top 25? All you "it takes a time and I am in it for the long run" better hope it's not within 4 years b/c your theory will be shot.

We will almost never be an at large bid if we lose the BIG 12 championship if we have 2 losses. We are playing in the North and everyone across the country considers it a joke. We had better win it every year right now. The other teams are horrible. Also, we were 9-5. That is a fact. Let's not speculate on turnovers and misques. Every team can say that. That is one of the worst things to do in sports. Champions don't say things like that. Do you think the Dallas Cowboys "coulda" won the Super Bowl if Romo didn't fumble? Who cares? He DID fumble. We weren't ever ahead of USC we were just "close" Honestly we never had control of that game. BC messed up the end of the Auburn game, and OU dominated us. You may see it different but ask ANY totally nuetral observer. WOULD ANYONE WANT TO FIRE BC IF WE GO 8-4 IN THE REGULAR SEASON, DON'T WIN THE NORTH AND LOSE OUR BOWL GAME?

Again, you missed the point I made earlier. pleasefirecallahan.com is meant to get Husker fans to get fired up again. We have made enough excuses for BC and now we need to say "No More excuses" This year needs to show more improvement. The site is meant to keep his feet to the fire b/c even if he is making strides he makes a lot of very bad decisions and we could be doind a lot better. It's a place to vent frustrations. It also has a news page and comments page where people can say they disagreee. I didn't say I expect to force him to step up but we need to make it clear on the radio, in the stands and on message boards that we now expect better. Also, I WANT us to win a championship under BC. But how can anyone "Believe it" just for the sake of believing it. What has he shown us that makes you believe he can win a big game and stop losing to a much lesser foe each year? I love your passion but it might be mistaken for blinded loyalty. That works for your kids not for NU football. I have loyalty with expectations.

I have one question that everyone has avoided: DO YOU IN YOUR HEART BELIEVE THAT BILL CALLAHAN CAN COACH A CONSISTENT TOP 10 TEAM (2 out of 3 years) AND WIN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP? Everyone keeps saying give him time. I agree but I am saying I think he will let us down and we need to stop making excuses for him and force him to step up.

Quick question: Has anyone on this board played or coached college football? Perhaps many of you aren't looking at the important subtleties that are showing BC's major flaws.
