  1. Oh, so we shouldn't hold ourselves to the Texas, OU, OSU, Michigan, WISCONSIN, LSU, Forida standard? No those other coaches shouldn't get fired. They are at schools with mediocre expectations. I don't ever want to have those other schools ecpectations. DO YOU? At I said consistently win 10 games, not EVERY YEAR. And TO went 9-3 not 9-5. Realize 10 wins will mean we are 10-4. That will barely make the top 25! Doesn't anyone realize this?
  2. I agree Taylor was a very good quarterback. I am upset with those who say Taylor sux and that is why we handed off the ball so much and we were conservative against USC. I think we should have let Zac throw more b/c I believe he had the talent to do so. My other point was BC should have used him MORE against USC and OU in better play calls not just a roll out pass with 2 drag receivers to the short side of the field. I think BC didn't have enough faith in Zac at times. That was my point. He could have done more in big games. I disagree with people pointing the finger at Taylor.
  3. Seriously, we should keep him for fear we wouldn't get any good coaches. Is anyone here ok with us only winnin 8-10 games a year and never winning a championship? I don't think so but it sounds like they are. I am ok with giving him another year but at least we should be critical. Why all the BC apologists? This is a big year for him. I think unless we win 8 or less games he should get another year BUT NO EXTENSION until he wins 10 games.
  4. Let's not forget all those who are in love with BC: He wasn't even a top 5 choice.....remember! And while you guys slam Zac, he was a VERY decent college QB. He did make some poor decisions, and a better coach I feel would have put him in a better position to make plays. Does anyone remember that in 2004 the local papers wondered if Pederson hired a good recruiter but a poor coach. They said "good talent can make any coach look good but theorobreads needs great trainers to become champions" Isn't it interested how everyone keeps boasting about his recruiting and not his coaching? Looks like a preditction may come true. OH AND WHY IS CALLAHAN GIVING UP SOME PLAY CALLING DUTIES THIS YEAR IF HE IS SUCH A GENIUS??
  5. I think many of you are missing the point of my topic. I stated that we MUST win 10 games or we need to fire Bill Callahan. I don't believe he is the right coach based on the decisions he has made and lack of winning a big game. Do you realize we cannot beat a team that finishes in the top 20. That is over the course of 3 years. Yet, teams ranked below us manage to beat us when we are ranked higher than we should have been. The point of the thread and the website is to remind Husker fans we need to hold any coach to the highest possible standard and we need to make sure BC knows that. For some reason everyone seems to be giving him a free pass on his decision making and lack of winning big games. I do believe he should be our coach this year but I am making sure that if we don't consistently win 10 games a year then please fire Callahan. His "let's not lose by too much" and terrible decision making is no longer acceptable.
  6. I honestly am so surprised that everyone is accepting of this. My point is that if we don't start winning 10 games virtually every year like Texas, OU, SoCal, LSU, OSU etc then he needs to go. BCS 2 out of 3 years is a standard and I think less than 10 wins is a major disappointment in COACHING. Do you think we have less talent than Boise St last year? They beat OU and put up a lot of points purely on coaching and great play calling. A friend of mine who coaches at Oregon St. said that they were shocked and embarrassed by NU play calling in the Big 12 championship. You guys are saying it's OK to be close in the 4th quarter to good teams. When did this become the standard b/c it wasn't ok for Frank or TO. Anyone wanna bet on a BCS game by 2010? If not, then that will be 7 years and that isn't acceptable. Also, we play in the Big 12 north. I am very happy we won and I traveled from AZ to the game but it isn't like winning the SEC.
  7. WOW! We finally agree. The best Callahan can coach is to lose by 17 pts. And Arkansas lost to USC by giving up 70 2 years ago and then lost only 1 more through the SEC. Your point on us losing 2,3 or 4 more sux. And with good coaching that wouldn't happen. So I apologize, you were right. Callahan wouldn't have been able to recover. That is 2 good points we agree on.
  8. Anybody here believe Callahan can take us to a BSC game before 2010? If so, I will bet you $1000. If not, then he should go. OU was terrible. It took Stoops 3 years. I hope we go 14-0 and I am wrong. It will be money well spent. GO HUSKERS! And I am sorry for having high expectations. It's part of being a winner.
  9. I would rather lose 45-10 and try to win rather than lose by a close margin, which we didn't. USC covered the spread. Second, the issue was Callahan ran a draw on 3rd down when he wasn't going for it on 4th down. That makes ZERO sense. You should try and throw the ball to get into field goal range. What it gets intercepted? So, you were punting anyway. And it always amazes me how everyone thinks Beck is the bad guy. Did he ask to play one play against OU and hand off the ball to lose his eligibility. That is why I am mad at the Beck issue, not because he transferred. He ruined his eligibility for 1 play to hand off. At least play the guy some the rest of the year. Terrible decision. Ganz can hand off the ball.
  10. You are completely wrong. The coach is ultimately the leader and with college kids he can lead them. Please see the examples of better teams above. Please realize I believe Callahan is a decent coach and has improved the program but he isn't good enough. Do you realize that The University of AZ has a win against a top 10 team each of the last 2 years. That is coaching because they have zero talent. Please look at Callahan's play calling....please.
  11. You miss my Zook point. It is that you can have all the recruits in the world but you still must do something with them. Callahan will be like Zook. Then hopefully a winner will come in here and lead us to dominance. You are WAAAAAAY overstating how the cupboard was when Callahan got there. And our starting quarterback is a Senior transfer, he totally screwed us Harrison Beck. Did you see his play calling in last year's USC game? The A&M game after we took the lead....thankfully on a great drive we won, and the decision at the end of the Cotton Bowl. I'm not complaining before the season, I am still complaining from 2005
  12. Does anyone here honestly believe that Callahan will make us a consistent top 10 team? We should be top five every couple of years and play in a BCS every other year. I cannot ever imagine Callahan being able to do that. And in my opinion anyone who excepts less forgets too easily WHO WE ARE! We are to be FEARED and CHAMPIONS! I am getting sick of the laid back, "Well, we are better than we were with Frank". That isn't good enough. RUTGERS, W. Virginia, Louisville, Cal, Boise St.....need I continue. They didn't have better recruiting classes and they are smoking us. Boise went to a BCS and beat OU. Any more lame excuses?
  13. All I ever hear from Callahan supporters is "Look at our recruits" Well Ron Zook recruited very well and it took Urban Meyer 2 years to make them champions. It's still about coaching and Callahan has never shown that he can win big games....EVER! By the way....we should try and get some defense also. My only question is how long will you give Callahan to go to a BCS game?
  14. I saw this site and I agree. We need to make sure that we hold Callahan accountable. Anything short of 10 wins would be a disappointing season. www.pleasefirecallahan.com Remember we have 14 games with the Big 12 championship and a bowl game. That is only 1 win better than last year.
