If this is fact, then why is Cook pissed off and not donating to NU anymore?

 

 

Not to mention, Buffet isn't a donor either. He's got bigger fish to fry than donate to Nebraska football. He made his money by investing in struggling businesses and corporations that had good leadership and could make a return. He doesn't even donate to UNMC which is a top research university in the nation. I know because I'm a graduate student there and in research money is everything and don't think for a second the pockets of Warren Buffet haven't tried to be tapped.

Cook threatened to pull money from the University. That is what I knew. Buffet threatened not to give money to the University and he never vowed money to athletics. I said threatened money. I didn't realize to what level and for what reasons. Also, I heard the Cook issue in invalid to this point.

i hope this is true but i hope they do look around some....pelini may be a good choice but i think someone like zook or another good recruiter would be a good choice....what type of connections does pelini have out there for recruiting??? who would he bring in??

Pelini has all kinds of connections, he possibly could bring in Mike Stoops as DC, he will looking for a job. Pelini has connection is the professional ranks, college ranks and is a players coach. As a recruiter, he is one of the best, who wouldn't want to play for him, he is young, energetic, and know how to motivate. GREAT CHOICE.

Word at UofA is Mike Stoops has another year and he is not getting let go. They want to give him a full 5 years. Not sure but got that from a source inside the Athletic dept. Of course if he tanks from here on out they may have no choice. I figured he was gone after losing to New Mexico but sources say otherwise.

I thought Buffet didn't give to the program to begin with? I hope there is some truth to this.

What I heard was he was getting upset and would have withheld funds from the school. He wasn't giving money to athletics.

If what I heard is correct is Buffet wrote a $40 million check to buyout contracts and finish off the money owed for the upgrades. That type of money for him is a drop in the bucket.

I think we have a lot of the pieces to have a very successful season next year as well. Doesn't Lee have some wheels and an arm? I can see some very bright days ahead!

They have him as the one candidate "they definitely want to talk to" that is all. It's not his job yet and others will likely be talked to as well. They will wait until after the regular season.

I hope we keep Watson as well but he is a coordinator for a west coast style offense and Pelini said that he would want to run a mix of run and pass with an emphasis on the power running game so I doubt if pelini would even keep him. I also hope that we keep Wyatt and Bush too, Wyatt is the only one who seems to be excited to be here and Busch is a damn good recruiter. This would result in us losing Gabbert and him going to Mizzou probably but with Pelini coming I dont think we have to worry about losing any defensive commits. This is if Pelini comes here of course, and this is fact.

 

 

I like Pelini but you should go through a coaching search and not hiring anyone right off the cuff.

 

The only good I see coming out of this is to get rid of the most devisive person that has ever been in the program. After Peterson is gone then find an AD and let him meet and discuss with a search comittee the kind of coach that would fit in the Husker family.

Pelini is their first interview hopeful. Not a defintie hire. It surprised me b/c he will cost top $ and he left on a sour note. I think that is why TO is coming in. To keep boosters happy and make amends with the past.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt, did your source mention when an official announcement will be made?

It should come today since everyone is talking about it. They wouldn't have told me if they weren't going public.

Called source to clarify. No decision on an interim coach. If Cally can win TX he might stay til end of the year but it looks like TX might be his calling card. The interim AD has to handle Cally since Pud is the first to go I think.

There is no slander here and it would not be a viable lawsuit. Trust me on that. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything. I wanted to help the board but if you want to slam and doubt me then fine.

Guys I am telling you this isn't a rumor. What I am telling you is from the horses mouth. It is the truth. I questioned the 2 weeks also, but he said it was something to do with the TX game. I think after we lose that one but they don't want to "give up on the season yet" it was the only detail I don't have a lot of.

Yes, it was down right spooky. And even though JR and AF tried to stay positive it got to the point that the reality of the situation had to be raised. I've been listening to the Huskers since the BobFather was in charge and have never heard anything like this.
