I am not being emotional about this.  I am being objective about how things have been under Frost. If anything, you are the emotional one thinking that all ills will be fixed with a change at QB and a few assistant coaches. All that would do is really delay the inevitable, in that I don't see the returning team being significantly better than this year.

EDIT:  I am applying the same principles I had when Riley was the coach. History shows, if a coach is going to be successful at a school, that coach will prove it in WINS and LOSSES within 3-4 years. Frost isn't proving that in his tenure.  You say NU is close. I say, let a new coach who knows how to actually win, move NU to the next level.

But wasn’t Scott’s win-loss record at UFC one of the reasons we hired him in the first place?

Is that our only barometer when closing a coach?

I hope its empty as a ghost town. The absolute worst way you could spend a beautiful Fall day. Watch at home and play with your kids. Dont get too emotional over this, we will get stomped. Its not the end of the world.

But we didn’t get stomped. We went toe to toe with one of the best teams in the B1G and ranked 5th in the nation. The stadium was packed out.

The problem is Frost is the one who runs the offense.  If you don't get rid of him what's the point of changing out the offensive staff?

I just don't think firing Scott is the solution.  My commitment when we first heard that Scott might come here, was 5 years.  I still remember the Scott Frost Mega Thread.  So many of us here on the board were part of that missive and we all said no matter what we would give him 5 years.  I say give him 1 more year.

(Dude, this is nothing personal ok?  I adore all of you guys and value your different opinions-We're family.  Disfunctiona, yeah, ok, but at the end of the day-still family.  I'm the annoying sister! ;))

I know you didn't ask me specifically, but this is what I want to hear:

'I want to apologize to the fans of Husker football for the result of today's game. It in no way represents me, my staff, or the players, and we are committed to playing more focused and with passion from here on out. Nebraska fans have been awesome and consistently passionate since long before I was even born, and you all deserve better than what we showed today.

We as a staff have to do better. We had a bye week, people got healthy, but we didn't do a good enough job getting them prepared for Purdue. Going forward, I we're going to focus on the running game, because as soon as our running attack fell apart, so did our offense. I think I put Adrian in a bad position several times. The offensive line plays hard; they do the best they can, but I can't keep putting pressure on them like that, trying to protect Adrian down after down without establishing a running game with effective play action. Our whole running game needs an overhaul, really, from a scheme standpoint. Maybe we try some more drive blocking instead of outside zone that didn't work once, but I insisted on calling it over and over. That's on me. I need to put these guys in a position to be successful, and I didn't do that very well.

At the end of the day, the buck stops with me. I'm going to get the staff and team together, and we're going to figure this thing out. Even if it means changing schemes, positions, whatever. I know what needs fixed, and we're going to address these issues head on as Ohio State comes to town.'

That’s so encouraging! Why couldn’t he just admit he blew it today? We all make mistakes. I know my respect for a person increases when they are genuine. It’s so sad!

    Thanks for the kind words.

I am with you.  I was so excited when he was hired. We all were. The most unified hire I can remember.  A buddy asked what happens if he fails....Would y'all fire him.  I assured him Frost would not.  It was the native hero returning home.  The prodigal son coming back.  Last NC team etc......I hate it.  Regardless of the 20 million buyout, I feel bad for him. Nobody wanted to turn the program around more than him.  Which brings me to your point about humbling himself.  Maybe his motive to return was purely personal.  Prove how great of a coach "I" am.  Show "I" am an offensive guru.  Show "I" deserved a share of the national title.  Let the football world know "I" brought NU back....If that was the motive, it was a doomed "marriage" from the start.

Yeah. There’s no ‘I’ in TEAM:(

Thanks!  I'd say something along this line.

"Hey guys, no one is more disappointed in this than the team and the staff.  This is my staff, my recruits, my kids.  And right now, I am failing them, the university and the fans.  It's unacceptable.  It was not what I expected when I was hired.  I anticipated a wining record, challenging for the West and the B1G.  This is on me.  No one else.  I am not going to try and lay this on effort or execution.  If I am fortunate enough to return to the greatest team and job in the world next year.  There will be changes.  I have already talked with the staff.  We will be doing a comprehensive review from top to bottom. Like I tell the kids, every week is a competition for your spot.  It has come to this for the staff as well.  As hard as it is to admit, my scheme is in need of tweaking.  This is the B1G.  Big players, big coaches and big resumes of quality coaches.  This off season will be a rebuild and a reset.  Rebuild the staff, the scheme, our development.  Travel to winning programs and see what the heck they are doing and we are not.  I'm at a loss for words and honestly ideas.  But I will do everything in my power to succeed and win. Thanks"

Wow! That’s excellent! So Scott needs to humble himself and take responsibility for the current condition of the team and its performance both today and in the future.
I know I would feel proud if he could get to that point. I just feel sad. We were all so excited to have him here. I’m in the ‘one more year’ camp but only if he can get to the point where he can admit what he’s doing and that sweeping changes in will happen over the summer.

After his presser/no presser he is done.  I think the team is sick of his crap as well.  I said the game thread, JoJo blew up that receiver right the INT thrown by AM.  In pressers, JoJo has gotten less and less guarded with his frustration.  Still professional, but you can tell he and the D are simply tired of playing well enough to win and getting no help from the O.......Hopefully they play fpr each other and don't quit.  I think Frost has quit in them....

Just curious, and I’m asking you because you give good answers, but what, if anything, could Scott have said after this game that would make any difference? What would you as a fan like to have heard from him?
