  1. I do too. After I watched that program I was excited for Nebraska. We don't have the Michigan or LSU cloud hanging over us anymore so people can forget about all that. Didn't you think it was interested that Adrian F. said, 'Last year we were 10-4 and people were ecstatic! This year we were 10-4 and people are down in the dumps (or something to that effect) Bowl games DO make a difference' I agree. I wish we would've went out there and beat them up just like we did 3 months earlier.

I was excited when Sean Callahan said that there are a couple of kickers that will be able to help Nebraska out in the fall. He said that one of them was an 'Alex Henery'. That was a relief to hear after that Sade kiddo changed his mind about coming here.

So, will be an interesting next few months!

  2. Always liked the project husker videos, but I think this is the best of them all.

I was a senior in high school when we beat Tennessee for our 3rd title in 4 years and at the time I thought we'd be dominating forever. What a bummer this decade has been. I hope Bo gets this thing turned around.

Man those boys were tough. I think that's what I miss the most. The way Nebraska used to just smash anyone who got in their way. They played smashmouth football better than anyone else around. Our defense is coming back to that way of playing. We've just got to make some changes on offense so that our O line will play the way those boys used to play. Thanks for the memories! We can be great again! GBR!

  3. Let me know what you think. I thought that those news boys didn't mince any words. They see the problems on offense just like we do here on this board. You'll enjoy the good news from Sean Callahan too! Don't want to spoil it for ya!

  4. Did anyone else catch Big Red Wrap Up tonight? Wow! They had the guy from AP, Dirk C from OWH and the guy from Lincoln Journal Star (Not Sipple-sorry can't think of his name!) Anyway, those three told it like it is. It was pretty impressive. They said that things have been pretty quiet but left me with the impression that change is in the air. Did anyone else feel like that after watching the show? So maybe they know something we don't know? I'm thinking that if there are going to be any changes that they would happen after signing day. If you watched the show, give me your take on it.

  5. Let me guess... ESPN?

Who is Fairly? I mean, I never heard of him until the BSC Championship game but everyone who is interested in college football (and even some who aren't!) have heard of SUH!! Let's see how this Fairly kid does in the NFL. I agree with the notion that ESPN is scraping the bottom of the news barrel. SO GLAD TO HAVE CRICK BACK NEXT YEAR!! WHOO HOOO Throwing confetti!

  6. We're in DEEP, deep do-do if Bo leaves.

Imagine where we'd be without his top 10 defenses every year to bail us out? Pretty scary scenario if you ask me.....

Looks like Les is staying at LSU. Bo is an Ohio man-he wouldn't go to Michigan (and can't since we're in the Big 10) So I think we're going to be ok!

  7. Les Miles is in a recruiting hot bed and doesn't need to rebuild another program. Oh and it doesn't hurt that he has his QB coming back and 16 starters off a top 5 team, plus he has a great class coming in. He is just reloading and shooting fish in a barrel. Pretty easy gig, why leave?

Yeah, I didn't think he would leave either. He said after their bowl game that he wasn't going to leave but I guess people weren't listening or thought that once Michigan called him he would go running. I love it when ESPN is wrong!!

  8. Theres been a lot of threads about which teams will be our biggest rivals and who we will develop to dislike the most, but I thought it'd be fun to think up which team we will get along with best.

For the Big 12 I think that the team that we most respected was Oklahoma, and my guess would be OSU for the Big 10.

I think this is because, one we have similar levels of tradition so there is a founding for respect. Two, we are in different divisions and don't play each other every year, making the probability of us hating each other less likely than some of our other Big Ten opponents (ie Iowa, Penn State, Michigan). Three, we will have a common dislike for Michigan.

I could also possibly see Wisconsin as a possibility.

I think if we're just talking about football then my choice would be Wisconsin. Barry Alverez (their AD) played for Nebraska so there is that connection. Not all Wisconsin fans are jerks. We have friends who are die hard Badger fans and they are great. I think that the serious Wisconsin fan is just as passionate about football as we are and are knowledgeable about football too. I think Wisconsin.

OSU is probably more like us with regards to overall university philosophy. We'll see.

  9. Not sure if anyone else has welcomed you yet so I thought I'd take it upon myself to be sure so here goes;

WELCOME TO THE MOTHER FREAKIN' BIG TEN!

Get ready for smash mouth football and sh*tty referee's

Be prepared for grind it out football where the horizontal pass is almost a forgotten feature

Get your first-aid kits and bandages stocked up because every week is a fight for your life

Better come prepared to fight tooth and nail for every yard gained because there will be 11 hungry men looking to welcome you not with handshakes but with brutal shoulder charges to the chest, wash rinse repeat.

Leave your grandma's china hidden and locked away because your new conference brethren are coming to steamroll through your house with a warm painful welcome to the Big Ten.

    Welcome aboard Huskers,

    You'll fit in real nice.

Thanks! We're looking forward to smashmouth football again! We haven't seen it since we were in the Big 8! (Except from our defense of course!) As for the refs-been there done that especially this year. But glad to be coming to a conference that appreciates good physical football!

Thanks for the welcome and welcome to our board!

  10. im surprised. maybe voters didnt watch our game?

Gotta be the explanation. Or they just figured we didn't care about a meaningless bowl and didn't gig us for the pitiful performance. Or maybe they had mercy on us for the most trying season since 2007.

I was sure we'd be unranked after that loss to Washington. That was some pitiful football we put on display. I would categorize this as a gift.

When they vote on these polls, don't they take into account our total season? I guess I'm of the opinion that we had some really good games and some really good wins (MU, OKSt) and we lost by so little in some of those games. I wouldn't base the entire season on a post season game, especially since they saw us obliterate this same team 3 months before.

  11. The only news in the last few days is Sipple chirping about Bo and LSU. It seems like this program is on the right track but still unstable. Our offense is the 'shakiest gun in the west' and every head coaching job that opens up Bo's name gets brought up. Nebraska picked up it's big recruits early and there have been a lot of what ifs? since. First off, the University needs to step up, pony up and secure Bo for the next few years at least (we need him more than he needs us). They also need to let him be the head coach and fire and hire whomever. I just get this feeling there are too many chiefs in the tribe right now (my opinion, of course). This off season let's find some stability please, thank you.

I agree about the stability part however, I don't think Bo is going to leave Nebraska. He waited too long to get this job so why would he give it up after 3 seasons? He's got unfinished business to take care of-a conference title and a national championship. After he achieves those two things he might get the itch to go elsewhere but I doubt it. People forget that he is also a husband and a dad. To up root his family once again would not make Mrs. Pelini or the kids very happy. Nebraska is a great place to raise your kids. I think they will stay put. IMHO :)

  12. I dont mean to be blunt but if i keep seeing a fire Watson thread or a Lets Change The Offence thread i need to speak up. Its obvious that Watson isnt going anywhere or he would of been gone already. Its obvious that no one is going anywhere because they would of been cast into the wind by now. We will be running this same type of offence next year which means well be mediocre at best. Dont mean to be him humm ho drum but thats what im seeing. Actions needed to be taken and for whatever reason it hasnt happened. Get used to this because its obvious there not changing anything.

No offense, but I disagree. I think we will see some changes after the coaches meeting. There's plenty of time. Things change so quickly for people from one day to the next. So, it could be that there are things going on on the inside that we don't even know about.

I'm hoping that we will have some changes. One change that I would like to see is team unity. Back in the day those boys were tighter than a drum. They might not have liked each other but they sure respected each other and they played for each other. They were a team. I miss that.

I remember when those boys weren't allowed to sit down (unless they were hurt) They were always standing up, cheering for whatever team (offense/defense)was on the field. They were turning around and encouraging the fans to cheer.

It will be interesting to see what happens before Husker season 2011.

  13. Leaving right now for a trip to Lincoln to watch the mighty Cyclones crush the lowly Huskers in a game of hoops tonight. Getting a late start because when someone gave me the tickets I didn't even realize Nebraska had a basketball team and thought the guy was trying to put one over on me... <_<

So, if you see a Blue Dodge pickup truck coming up behind you at 120 on the Interstate you might want to get out of the way before I help you get out of the way...and if any of you want to finally meet up with me, just start chanting "Let's Play Baseball" during the game when the Freds are blowing your doors off...I'll come across the court and find you. Should be pretty easy to do since only about 7 people attend the bball games in Lincoln.

Well so much for your prediction! The NU boys have now extended their winning streak to 11-0!! Jeter Helps Streaking Nebraska To 63-62 Win

    GO BIG RED!!!

  14. When Michigan fires Rich Rod, they hope to get Harbaugh. But it doesn't seem like Harbaugh is going to go. Then who do they go after, Les Myles who I think would more than likely take that job. LSU nation wants Bo.

Tonight on the Cotton Bowl, a reporter said that they asked Les about going to Michigan and he said, "No, I'm having too much fun here (LSU)." So don't look for Les to go to Michigan. For Bo to go to Michigan would be sacriligious! He's an Ohio man. It would be like Tom Osborne coaching at Texas! It's just not done.

So relax and enjoy the fact that we're going to have a great team next year. I feel changes are in the air and Bo is finally going to have the kind of total team that HE wants.

  15. a Toledo paper source has Pelini a candidate for the Michigan job.

    Have fun with that one.

Nebraska's Pelini mentioned in search for new Michigan coach

YAWN! Ok, boys & girls-here's the deal: Do you really think MRS. Pelini is going to edure yet ANOTHER MOVE? Not on your nelly! Bo's a wise man. He knows what everyone else knows: WHEN MOM'S UNHAPPY EVERYBODY'S UNHAPPY. ;)

But seriously, Bo worked too hard to get here in the first place. He's wanted the Nebraska head coaching job for a long time and now he has it. Why would he leave after only 3 years? Ridiculous!

  16. In the article he talks about how close he is to Wats, does this change anyone's view on getting rid of him? I've never thought wats was the problem. The play calling could use some tweaking for sure but the line and the WR's need better coaching before the quarterbacks IMO.

    http://nebraska.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1171615

There's a quote in a Rivals article where he says he's committed to Nebraska, if Watson were to go, he knows they'd find a suitable replacement, FWIW.

That's good to know. Did anyone else see the special they did on him (I can't remember what it was on-ESPN or Big Red Wrap Up?) Anyway, the kid sounds like a phenom. It would be great if he pans out for us.

  17. "As far as passing goes, a lot of Martinez's balls were getting tipped and he wasn't putting them on the spot," Starling says. "I just think with (Nebraska offensive coordinator) Shawn Watson coaching me and having a lot of time to work on football, I'll be able to get those down.

I like his confidence, but if his playing is contingent on Watson staying, do we really want Watson to leave? Interesting. Watson stays Bubba plays...Watson goes..Bubba??? (Frankly, I think if I were as good at baseball as everyone says Starling is and if I had that much money staring me in the face-I think I would take the money! He's young and he can always come back and play football if baseball doesn't work out.)

  18. Ok, where to start...

    1. Your thread title is misleading. Texas State and Texas are two completely different schools.

    2. That would be a step down for Watson, considering he has been looked at by Div 1 schools for a HC position.

    3. He makes more $ here as the OC ($380,000) than he would as a HC at Texas State ($350,000).

    4. Who cares if he would make a better HC than an OC, as long as he is removed from our program.

    5. You linked to a blog, so there is between zero and a pinch of credibility to this story.

Yikes!! Sorry! I still think it's interesting.

  19. Just read this:

    http://blog.mysanantonio.com/the-local-scene/2011/01/texas-state-could-pay-up-to-350000/

Nebraska offensive coordinator Shawn Watson could be in the mix for a new head-coaching job.

"Other names that continue to circulate as possible candidates include former New Mexico coach Rocky Long, now the defensive coordinator at San Diego State; Nebraska offensive coordinator Shawn Watson and Oklahoma defensive assistant Bobby Jack Wright."

Wow....I don't know what to think about this. But maybe he would be a better Head Coach than OC??? What do you think?

  20. Depends on what the recruit wants. If he is just showcasing his talent for NFL then TT would be a better fit. But if you want win a championship like so many recruits do then they would be willing to sacrifice catching to win. A lot of Texas kids go to OU simply because OU wins and plays in big bowls more than Texas.

What type of offense are most high school's running these days? Do you think that the recruits look at colleges that run the same offenses that they are used to or do they go with something completely different?
