  1. In no ways am I trying to talk smack, since you guys smacked us around on our own home turf. But at the same time, all the threads I see are how poorly you guys played.

While that may be true, there weren't any threads on how poorly UW played when you guys throttled us.

So seeing these threads, it's seems like you're mostly blaming T-mart and your OC, which all may be well and true.

But at the same time how can you diminish the fact the fact that your O-line, as well as your D-line, which are still MUCH more talented than our O/D lines, got absolutely man-handled. Call it poor coaching, motivation, but still .. . . It's hard to coach defeat against a DT or OT that weighs a whole lot less and is apparently a whole lot less skilled than you.

I'm still not trying to talk smack, but I'm just a little surprised you won't give my dawgs some credit.

I'm curious as to what you were expecting?

  2. Just as Rome will never again be a world power, neither will Nebraska return to former glory. Nothing lasts forever and I'm proud to say we had one of the greatest dynasties in CFB history. But this game made me realize that we just plain f'ing suck. We play down to our competition and our offense is f'ing laughable. I hope neighborhood children throw dozens of footballs through Watson's windows tonight and take sh#ts on his doorstep.

And do you know what makes me most sick? It wasn't the Groza committee that cost Henery the award. It wasn't the NCAA or the Big 12. It was Watson and his dipsh*t squad who couldn't move the ball to within our kicker's 60 yard field goal range. Think about that for a second. No second half points against OU. We have the best kicker who maybe ever lived. He can damn near hit it from half a field away, and we still can't move it well enough to get 3 points. Tonight - couldn't get within range again. When you think about it, it's downright pathetic. Get rid of this moron and maybe we'll have a remote chance for a decent season next year.

Watson isn't about field goals, he's about big plays and touchdowns. It's just that, right now, he doesn't have the necessary talent or else the necessary talent isn't 100%. Give him time and wait for the right combination of personnel.

Are you kidding? How much longer do we have to put up with the 'he just needs the necessary talent' excuses? We've had three years of the same excuses. I'm sorry but he needs to move on. I think he wants to move on too. It's time. He wants to be a head coach and we desperately need a complete overhaul where offense is concerned.

  3. Really have to wonder, what if.

How you handle a player can determine everything about their career.

Give them a chance and then yank them, give them another chance and then yank them, at the first sign of a slip-up, and it can kill confidence and derail progression. I feel this has been the case with some young receivers lately. I also feel it's been the case with Green.

We saw a guy thrown in an incredibly tough situation in the 4th quarter (on the 1-yard line AGAIN, ha!), and down two scores, having to drive us back as the clock wound down - without the benefit of a shutdown defense. Green missed throw after throw, but he also showed presence in the pocket for the most part, though he was a tick slow. You have to wonder: if you get behind the guy like we did against CU, and have him entrenched as the starter with Taylor as the emergency option, ever since Iowa State, would he still be that tick slow, that little bit unsure, or would have grown into a confident, capable option?

Green is a guy that is not as explosive on those runs as Taylor, but he is obviously much farther along in passing and knowledge of the position. He shows better poise, and won't just take sacks the way Taylor does. We saw him show some very good things with his arm, but only in rare bursts, unfortunately. If we don't stick stubbornly to Taylor while completely ignoring Green as an option, is that still the case?

The way the QB business was handled at the end of the year, cost us big time. Even more than the poor OL play tonight, IMO.

Good Point. I'm a little confused because there were games this year when our offense was dazzling! I mean, we beat the crap outta this Washington team back in September. We also beat Missouri, who was ranked in the top 10 when we beat them. It was almost like we had two different teams playing this year. I think that's what has been most frustrating for me.

We have some house cleaning to do for sure and some hard work/decisions to make in the off season. But at least we can start with a clean slate in the fall. Put the Big 12 and all of our disappointments behind us and start fresh-with no mistakes.

  4. Will the game be online tonight? I will not be able watch on a TV due to crappy circumstances...

I sent you the link I found on WOWT's website under the sports link. I hope it works for you.

  5. Did you guys just see the 15 yard celebration penalty against KSU? KSU scored with a minute to go and the WR saluted the crowd. He got tossed a 15 yard flag for excessive celebration. With that, the refs tacked on 15 yards on the two point conversion for the potential tie. Needless to say they didn't get it. I thought this call was friggen rediculous and I don't even like KSU but man they got screwed!

I'm still steaming about that! Especially since a Tennessee player just did the same thing and no one said a word!! That 'excessive celebration' penalty has to go. These are excited college boys. Good grief!! Even the ESPN folks were saying it was lame. LAMO!!!

  6. The scary part would/could be Nebraska agreeing to let Casey use the Husker logo in exchange for Taylor committing to NU/being the starting the QB and NU receiving less in royalties than ISU or Iowa and then Taylor playing for NU

But that wasn't the case. Mr. Martinez made this deal with Nebraska a long time before his son was offered a scholarship to play with NU. Here's a great explanation of the whole deal on ESPNU: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5970508

  7. Im not going to feed any rumors or fuel any speculation. Just gonna state a very passionate opinion. If a player-no matter talent offer or production level-has any second thoughts whatsoever about being a part of this place, then i would rather have them gone altogether. This is why so many high ranked recruiting classes dont turn out worth a damn, theyre there for all the wrong reasons. Osborne knew this, and I think Bo does too. I'll take a 3 star who wants to be here over a blue chip who has doubts any day.

I'm with you. I would much rather have a walk on who loves the game-has passion for the game and for the Huskers. Those are the kids that can be molded to play however you want them to play.

  8. Can't you just post the straight link?

I was going to post the straight link but was nervous about doing that given the 'copyright' provisions? I guess I'm not totally clear on the rules of what we can post and can't post. Sorry

    Ah, I see, sorry.

It's just that you can't copy whole article texts and reproduce them here. A link to the article is always fine.

Ok, thanks for taking the time to clarify :) GO BIG RED!!

  9. Ya, probably time to get back on topic. I really haven't got a whole lot of good info on Watson and Miami(OH) since I started the thread.

Has anybody heard anything new and give us an update if you have. Thanks

I was just on the Miami (Ohio)'s message board and they said that Watson was in play as a head coach and specifically mentioned Michigan State offensive coordinator Don Treadwell as a possibility for the Miami (Ohio) job.

  10. Heard Tom Dienhart on the radio a couple days ago and he said Watson is a candidate for HC at Miami(OH) and haven't seen anything on here about it.

    Anyone have any info???? Thanks.

I visited the Miami (Ohio) message board and they were talking about the following:

    >Mike Leach

    >Florida State assistant head coach/defense Greg Hudson

    >Head coach - Ohio Northern Dean Paul

    >Mt. Union Larry Kehres

I think Watson would be a great fit there.

  11. Not to be a debbie downer but we came close to losing to ISU again and SDSU was way to close for comfort. I agree that we had our chances but even if we had won all of our games we may not have been ahead of Auburn or Oregon at the end of the year. I would have liked to have that problem though.

    GBR GBR GBR

So would have I, so would have I...

I think that's why this was such a disappointing year for us. We KNOW we could've won ALL of those games we lost. That we didn't succeed is eating at all of us. IMHO.

  12. Yah, I don't know why per se, but their meltdown does bring a smile to my face. Too bad we don't get another shot at them next year... Wait, what am I saying? Good riddance B12!

I put it in here because I think it's hilarious!! I HATE Texas. They ruined the Big 8. They ruined the conference they were in before us, so I think they are getting what they deserve!! Their bullying has finally come round to bite them in their big fat backsides! I couldn't be happier!! Sorry if this wasn't the place to put it but those who recognized that it was another shot at Texas-thank you! That's exactly why I put it in here so that everyone else could join in the celebration!! Good riddance to the Big 12 I can't wait to be in the Big 10 next year!!! GO BIG RED!!!

    Nebraska denies Bo Pelini report

    ESPN.com news services

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska's athletic director is denying a report that coach Bo Pelini is a candidate for Miami's coaching job.

Athletic director Tom Osborne told the Lincoln Journal Star that he has not given Pelini permission to speak to Miami about the job, and Pelini says he didn't seek permission to interview for another job. Pelini wouldn't otherwise comment publicly on the report.

Pelini isn't the only coach apparently out of the running for the position.

Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen is no longer being considered for Miami's vacant job, a source close to the situation told ESPN's Bruce Feldman.

Mullen had spoken to Miami officials, who have also interviewed Connecticut coach Randy Edsall and Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville, sources told ESPN.com.

Mullen told The Associated Press he hasn't been contacted by anyone about another coaching job and has "no plans on going anywhere," adding the speculation was annoying "because I have to answer things that don't pertain to our football team."

Mullen was in Jacksonville, Fla., on Thursday for a Gator Bowl reception that welcomed coaches before the New Year's Day game. Mullen was joined by Michigan's Rich Rodriguez.

Mullen, who spent four years working for Meyer at Florida, says he has not spoken to his former boss. Mullen sent Meyer a text message wishing him well.

Pelini's Cornhuskers (No. 18 BCS, No. 17 AP) are 10-3 heading into the Dec. 30 Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl game against Washington (6-6).

Miami fired Randy Shannon last month after a 7-5 season.

Pelini and Nebraska football officials didn't immediately return messages left Thursday. A secretary for Osborne said he had told her to tell callers: "There's nothing to comment on."

  14. I was just reading about Bo on the Miami Hurricanes Message Board. They would LOVE to have Bo come to Miami. They said that the AD gave Bo permission to do an interview. Well, we all know that's horse manure.

As for me, why would Bo move his young family to Miami? Nebraska is a perfect place to raise your children. I can't see Bo moving his family all the way from 'down south' (he has already tasted coaching down there) to Nebraska just to leave three short years later? Blah!

I'm sure like all professionals, Bo gets contacted at least once or twice a year to come coach somewhere else. Has Florida called him too? Does he want Urban Meyer's old job? Blah! again.

Why would Bo be out recruiting for Nebraska if he was leaving? It's just like when the Omaha weathermen predict huge snow storms and we get nothin' I'LL BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT!

    In the meantime........GO BIG RED!
