Should have MJ fired MW after the Illinois loss?

After Casey got hurt, and Chubba and Logan played it was completely obvious to me that neither of the backups were prepared to run the offense at all.  Who's job is it to prepare backup QBs to play if the starter gets hurt?  Mr Obvious says the QB coach.  MW failed in preparing Logan or Chubba.  Failed to recognize that Chubba wasnt getting it done in the 2nd half against Illinois and after the first 2 series against Minnesota.  Refuses to go away from his game plan and utilize Logan to his strengths by using more RPOs.

At this point I would rather have Sean Beckton finish the season as OC rather than wasting any more time with the "Whip"

    What say you?

    Yes

I couldn't agree with you more.  While there have been success stories like Reimer, Isaac Gifford, Brewington, and Heist, having a manageable roster of 20-25 walk-ons is the way to go.  I wonder how much time and energy the staff spent on "recruiting walk-ons" (evaluation, convincing them to not go FCS, etc.) when that time and energy could be used on actual scholarship recruiting.

I also think fans get too wrapped up in redshirting players.  I understand that the 4 game redshirt rule creates opportunities to get a guy some snaps while preserving his redshirt.  However, if your staff is good enough recruiters, then they should be able to replenish the roster with talent.  I think that the only guys who should redshirt are:  offensive linemen, interior defensive linemen, blocking tight ends, some other positions/recruits who need to get stronger, recover from an injury, or change their body.  I would try to play nearly every skill position player (RB, WR, DB, stud TE's, fast LB's, Rush Ends) so they can learn how to play, add depth, and contribute on special teams.

I would rather see us hire a coach who can develop players no matter where they come from.

First, that's pretty much true of every coach.

Second, Daniels was a 50% passer with 1 TDs and 4 INTs the year before Leipold got there.  So it seems some development/scheme is involved with their "stellar QB".

Third, He made it to the DIII championship game seven times in eight years.  And has now done very well at two D1 stops.  Pretty sure it's more than one QB.

Yeah, I read that Leopoldo was a good ‘developer of programs/players. I don’t know about anyone else but our program needs a rebuild. (Although, it would be sweet if we could keep MJ and Bill Busch.)

Am I the only one that does not want Mark Stoops? Not only should we not hire any more former Huskers, we really shouldn't hire more former Hawkeyes.

No Stoops.  I’m thinking that Trev will go after Dave Aranda. Baylor has said they will pay whatever to keep him but we have deeper pockets.
