  1. Who are you talking about? Cotton? I hadn't heard anything about this until now. If this is true hopefully they get it in gear. I think he is refering to this Rivals Article about Christian Westerman. Just to quote what was said: Would this be a great pickup? hell yeah, especially since he has down right impressed USC's and Texas's head coaches, not just assistants but head coaches.
  2. Media day updates Not to say its overly surprising but still I hate to see a guy get dropped if it is indeed cause of his medical condition. GL in where life takes ya Burkes. Steve Simple's Media day
  3. I voted Val's, just cause thats what I had at the spring game. Havn't been to an actual game since 1997. /sigh
  4. Done. lol, cant fill a state for you but lets go International!! Germany, via Iraq, Korea, Kansas, Washington State, Mississippi, Texas, NEBRASKA! Thank you Air Force!
  5. previously some one had a website that I could view my seats and what they would look like from where I sat...anyone remember what that site is?
  6. Sorry to the avid readers about last week, had work issues so couldn't get time to get on the board and yes work effects my home life /sigh. I would like to see some MU fans take on this also. Hope you enjoy this weeks, I added a few new sections. Well non-conf. play is over time to get to the meat and potatoes of the schedule. The theme for last year’s match up "No. 4 Mizzou routs Nebraska en route to first win in Lincoln in 30 years". The irony, "35-point defeat was the Huskers' most lopsided home loss in 53 years and fifth-worst in Lincoln in the program's 119-year history". Many think the motivation behind the mid season turn around for the Huskers was this game’s outcome last year. Let’s see what MU brings to the table this year in Columbia. Missouri (Tiger’s) 10-4, (5-3) National Stats: #8 in Total Offense #6 in Scoring Offense #4 in Passing Offense #53 in Rushing Offense #100 in Total Defense #68 in Scoring Defense #118 in Pass Defense #31 in Rush Defense Big XII Conference Stats (per game): #4 in Total Offense: 482.9 #4 in Scoring Offense: 42.2 #3 in Passing Offense: 330.4 #6 in Rushing Offense: 152.50 #9 in Total Defense: 411.5 #3 in Scoring Defense: 27.2 (Moral Victories) #12 in Pass Defense: 286.4 #5 in Rushing Defense: 125.07 Most embarrassing loss: 21-62 vs. OU (Allowed 384 passing yards, and 243 on the ground, OUCH!) Most embarrassing win: 31-28 vs Baylor (Mizzou and Baylor combined for more than 900 total yards WOW!) Most impressive win: 30-23 OT vs Northwestern (Woulfort’s 37 yard kick to send the game to OT then Maclin's 7 yard TD catch ftw!) Most heart breaking loss: 21-62 vs. OU (Back to back blowouts in title games can be salty no matter who you are.) Key Offensive returning player: RB Derrick Washington (Jr.) 2008 Stats: 1036 yards & 17 TD's rushing, 277 yards & 2 TD's recieveing. For a team that was middle of the pack in rushing both conference and nationally Washington was the lone bright spot. One of four 1k yard rushers in the Big XII last year, Washington will be looked upon to help out the new QB in times of passing woes. Washington was selected All Big XII second team. Impact Offensive newcomer: QB Blaine Gabbert (Soph.) The play of the starting QB will be the biggest hurdle to overcome, especially when the previous QB was the best in school history. Minus the defection from NU to MU in the recruiting process ( ) Gabbert has all the tools to succeed in Pinkle's offensive system. Key Defensive returning player: LB Sean Weatherspoon (Sr.) 2008 Stats: 76 solo 79 assisted 155 total tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 3 INT's (2 returned for TD's), 7 pass breakup's, 6 QB hurries and 1 forced fumble. Weatherspoon was the team leader in INT's, Tackles & Tackles for a loss; he was second on the team for sacks. He received Big XII defensive player of the week honors following his performance against Buffalo. He also received All Big XII defensive first team honors. Impact Defensive newcomer: DT Sheldon Richardson (Fr.) If Richardson doesn't redshirt, which a lot think won’t happen, he will be primed and ready to explode if given the opportunity. This highly touted recruit has all the tools to come in and make an immediate impact on the D-line. Missouri is in need of a good pass rusher that can pressure the QB and help compensate for a not so stellar secondary. Since joining the Tigers in 2001, Pinkel has led the Tigers to a record of 59–41 and five post-season bowl appearances, three of which Missouri won. In 2007 Mizzou captured its first Big 12 North division title and earned them an inaugural trip to the Big 12 Championship Game against the Oklahoma Sooners. Until the Big 12 Championship game, the Tigers were the only team in college football to have scored at least 30 points in every game. The Tigers won over 9 games in a season for the first time since 1969, and were ranked #1 in the AP Poll for the first time since 1960.[6] The Tigers also achieved their highest BCS ranking in history, at #1 that year. In 2008 Pinkel guided his Tigers to a second Big 12 North title and a chance to have back to back double digit win seasons. After the 2007 season, 2008 might be considered a disappointment with four losses including one to rival Kansas and again to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship game, but on December 29th Missouri helped redeem their season by defeating Northwestern 30-23 in an overtime win at the Alamo Bowl. This was the second season in a row that the Sooners defeated Missouri to win the Conference Championship. During the 2008 season Missouri’s potent offensive averaged 43 points per game. Despite four tough losses, the 2008 campaign concluded with a Big 12 North Championship, the first back to back 10 win season in Missouri history and an Alamo Bowl Championship. 2009 Preview: With both teams losing key players at skill positions it will be interesting who will come into this one the favorite. If both teams are playing well and all the early season kinks are worked out of the systems look for one hell of a fight down in Columbia. This game will come down too who makes the biggest mistake. Both teams have the possibility to come into this game undefeated and ranked. The minor shake ups on the MU coaching staff could play a minor factor and the need for the defense to be more than lack luster is MU's only really exploited weakness from last season. Because the teams are so even I would predict an MU win since its in Columbia and NU has to prove its self against MU over the past 7 seasons. My score prediction 31 MU - 24 NU. (IMHO, subject to change!) NU vs. MU since '02 '02 W 24-13 '03 L 41-24 '04 W 24-3 '05 L 41-24 '06 W 34-20 '07 L 41-6 '08 L 52-17
  7. Sitting on my couch, watching the game at 3am trying not to go nuts and wake the family...Germany btw.
  8. Thanks man, they would be more in depth but if I spend anthing more than 2 hours on it my wify gets mad. I actually enjoy reading about the other teams gives ya a little more respect for the programs especially the mid-low tier teams.
  9. Yeah thats what i was thinking too. It looks like some good seats i got but the row is questionable, especially since its gonna be a sell out.
  10. Just a thought, it would be nice to start a sticky for the spring game that way people can start to get info, corrdination, etc. I'm excited cause I managed to get some leave and have two tickets to the spring game. Anyone know if section 26 row 5 is any good? I got them since they were the closest to the action and on the 50.
  11. Oh my lord, after a hell of a game last week we got the next week off! Psych! Let the Tour de' Sun Belt continue! (Thanks for the schedule Peddy!) I would not object in the least bit if the Athletic Director ( ) decided to reschedule one if not two of the three Sun Belt non-conference games. Next up the Rajin Cajin's of Louisiana-Lafayette let’s see what they have to offer: Louisiana-Lafayette (Ragin' Cajun’s) 6-6, (5-2) National Stats: #13 in Total Offense #24 in Scoring Offense #88 in Passing Offense #7 in Rushing Offense #106 in Total Defense #105 in Scoring Defense #75 in Pass Defense #111 in Rush Defense Sun Belt Conference Stats (per game): #1 in Total Offense: 449.9 #1 in Scoring Offense: 33.1 #7 in Passing Offense: 185.5 #1 in Rushing Offense: 264.42 #6 in Total Defense: 429.6 #7 in Scoring Defense: 33.7 #5 in Pass Defense: 216.3 #8 in Rushing Defense: 213.25 (You have a top 10 rushing team and yet you can’t defend the run, ) Most embarrassing loss: 3 - 48 vs. Troy (When you give up 391 yards rushing your probably not gonna win) Most embarrassing win: 59 - 30 vs. North Texas (C'mon its 1-11 North Texas) Most impressive win: 28 - 23 vs. Arkansas State (At that point they were in a three way tie for the Conf. championship) Most heart breaking loss: 3 - 48 vs. Troy (Not only was it the most embarrassing loss of the year but a win would have given the Cajun’s there first outright conference championship) Key Offensive returning player: Offensive Line! The offensive line core which consists of seniors Kyle Pirtle, Brad Bustle and Chris Fisher have combined for 112 career starts. During a four-week stretch prior to the Arkansas State game, the unit guided the rushing attack to 300-plus yards rushing (414 vs. Kent State, 335 at Kansas State, school record 556 at ULM, 338 at North Texas). Behind the line’s leadership, Louisiana has surpassed 100 yards rushing in 11 of 12 games. In the UTEP game the offensive line did not allow a sack – the fourth such occurrence last season (Southern Miss, Kent State, ULM, UTEP). In the first six games of the season, UL had allowed only eight sacks - tied for the second-fewest allowed in the Sun Belt Conference. The unit surrendered a season-high five (5) sacks to Arkansas State, but bounced back by surrendering only two (2) in the next three outings. Fisher was named to the preseason All-SBC team. Key Defensive returning player: LB Daylon McCoy (Junior) 2008 Def stats: 48 Solo, 21 Assist, 69 Total Tackles, 6 TFL, 2 Int's, 4 Sacks, 1 Pass Breakup, 2 Forced Fumbles. Daylon McCoy was named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his performance vs. Arkansas State. He’s the first UL underclassman to earn the honor. McCoy registered at least five (5) tackles, nine (9) times last season and in the last eight (8) games he played. His 47 solo tackles were tops amongst all defensive players. McCoy made key game-changing plays vs. ASU. He stopped a drive in the first quarter by recovering a fumble. Late in the fourth quarter, it was his sack on second-and-six which created third-and-18 leading to a three-and out. UL received the ball with 3:34 left and scored the winning TD. Coach Bustle won 23 games in his first five seasons with the Cajuns from 2002-06, including 11 of the last 17 games. UL won only nine games in the five seasons prior to Bustle’s arrival from 1997-2001. Bustle saw his winning percentage increase each of the first four seasons since taking the job in 2002, but regressed to .500 in 2006. His 6-6 record in 2006 was only deemed a regression because of the high standards and raised levels of expectations by the Cajuns and their fans. In fact, Bustle’s 12 wins from 2005-06 were the most in a two-year period since 1994-95. Louisiana went 3-3 at home in 2006, marking the fifth straight season – all under Bustle - that the Cajuns had been .500 or better at home. Bustle boasts a 20-18 (.526) career record at Cajun Field. By comparison, UL was 6-19 (.240) at home from 1997-01. In addition to raised expectations, Bustle has brought professionalism and discipline to the program. From 2002-08, the Cajuns 525 penalties are the fewest in the Sun Belt Conference and UL boasts the fewest penalties per game over that span. The Cajuns went 6-5 (.546) in 2005 to mark UL’s first winning record since 1995. Along with a winning season in 2005 came a share of the Sun Belt Conference championship thanks to five straight wins to end the season. After starting 1-5 (0-2), Louisiana roared back into the SBC race with a come-from-behind road win at Middle Tennessee. From there came a homecoming win over Troy in overtime and a second comeback road win, this time at North Texas. A Senior Day victory over Florida International set-up the season finale at Louisiana-Monroe. The Cajuns rocked the Indians 54-21, claiming the first school title since the 1994 Big West crown. Since Coach Bustle’s arrival, the Cajuns have blocked 35 kicks (‘02 – 7, ‘03 – 5, ‘04 – 4, ’05 – 7, ’06 – 6, ’07 – 3, ’08 – 3). Scoring on special team’s blocks has been special for the Cajuns, accumulating six touchdowns and one safety. Blocked kicks 2002-08 1. Fresno State, 44 2. Texas, 41 3. Louisiana-Lafayette, 35 4. Boise State, 34 5. Kansas State, 33 6. Kentucky, 33 7. Virginia Tech, 31 8. Florida, 30 9. UCLA, 29 10. Notre Dame, 27 2009 Preview: The Cajun’s lost a slew of skill position players due to graduation; Dual threat QB Michael Desormeaux (1876yrds passing/1043yrds rushing), RB Tyrell Fenroy (1375yrds rushing) and WR Jason Chery (656 receiving/313 rushing/1922 all-purpose yrds). Those three players made up 90% of this team’s offensive fire power in '08. But if coach Bustle's history speaks anything this team will reload into another winning season. Expect another fun scrimmage with the Sun Belt conference but NU will roll in this one. The most interesting part of this game to me personally will be how NU's special teams will be shored up against some of the nation’s best special teams unit's in back to back weeks.
  12. so basicly the season will determine if this will be a signature win...
  13. So will this be the signature win for Pelini and staff? Come on...look at the numbers...you call beating a team with those numbers a signature win? When we beat Oklahoma, that is a signature win, do it during the season and then again in the Big 12 Championship, you attain Tom Osborne status...then win the BCS Championship on top of that, your going to have Bob Devaney Status, and will never get to leave Nebraska...nor will you want to, because recruits will be begging for scholarships. Yea i agree with you, at Virginia Tech won't be a signature win. It would be a signature win if we beat OU at home, man thats giving me chills even thinking about that game. Ok signature....maybe too strong of a word. Stepping stone I would say yeah, if/when we win we will accomplish something we havn't in a long time.
  14. So will this be the signature win for Pelini and staff?
  15. It's the end of the week gents/gals so it’s time for another installment of Let's Look Ahead! Ah week 3, the jitters are out and it's test time across the country. NU will take the show on the road to hostile, Blacksburg VA. The weather will be fair and the crowds will be restless. What is sure to be a national TV broadcast, (Thanks AFN) look for another slobber knocker like last year...maybe even better. Virginia Tech (Hokies) 10-4, (5-3) National Stats: #103 in Total Offense #90 in Scoring Offense #112 in Passing Offense #35 in Rushing Offense #7 in Total Defense #9 in Scoring Defense #16 in Pass Defense #14 in Rush Defense Atlantic Coast Conference Stats (per game): #11 in Total Offense: 303.4 #8 in Scoring Offense: 22.1 #11 in Passing Offense: 129.1 #3 in Rushing Offense: 174.36 #2 in Total Defense: 279.4 #1 in Scoring Defense: 16.7 #5 in Pass Defense: 175.0 #2 in Rushing Defense: 104.43 Most embarrassing loss: 27-22 vs. East Carolina (ECU has a hell of a year but flopped in there Conf. ) Most embarrassing win: 24-7 vs. Furman (Furman...Seriously only 24 on FURMAN!!! ) Most impressive win: 35-30 vs. Nebraska (In a season of close games this one stands out the most...tried not to be biased as a NU fan. ) Most heart breaking loss: 16-14 vs. Miami Fl. (After dropping to BC and FSU earlier this loss almost cost them the Conf. ) Key Offensive returning player: QB Tyrod Taylor (Junior) 2008 Off stats: 99 comp, 137 Att, 57.2 Comp %, 1036 yards, (Edit: 2 TD's, 7 Int's, FAIL! thanks NativeVAHokie) 738 yards rushing, 5.02 avg, 7 TD's. Arguably Taylor is the top returning threat for this team’s offense. Taylor’s ability to stretch a play and open up the field for his receivers to get open will be his main attribute. If the Hokies intend to improve on last year’s dismal offensive numbers Taylor will be key. Now I did say arguably, the only other top returning threat they have on offense is RB Darren Evans. Evans is one of only three returning 1k yard rushers in the ACC and as a freshman he is the second Hokie to rush for 1k yards in 6 years. This season will determine if Evans numbers are inflated from D's focusing on Taylor. Key Defensive returning player: LB Cody Grimm (Senior) 2008 Def stats: 45 Solo, 26 Assisted, 71 Total Tackles, 14 TFL, 7.5 sacks, 2 Int, 1 pass breakup, 3 QB hurries, 2 Forced Fumbles. Cody is the top returning tackler and is only 1/2 sack behind last year’s sack leader DL Jason Worilds (Jr.). It was hard for me to choose between DB Stephan Virgil (Senior) and Cody but when your linebacker is putting up the same numbers as your D-linemen then something is working right and creating opportunities for the secondary. Stephan deserves an honorable mention as his 6 Int's was tied for first on team last year on top of his superb special team's play. In 2008, the Hokies took the field and stumbled out of the gate in losing to East Carolina in the opener. After rebounding with wins, including tough ones at North Carolina and Nebraska and one at home against Georgia Tech, the Hokies dropped consecutive games at Boston College and Florida State before falling at Miami three weeks later. The team won its last two games to again reach the ACC Championship game and again avenge a loss to Boston College. Tech had some unfinished business left in the form of winning an Orange Bowl. This time, the Hokies came out from the get-go and took care of things, beating 12th-ranked Cincinnati 20-7 to cap off a 10-4 season. In 3 out of 4 losses was decided by 5 points or less, this could have easily been a 13-1 team here folks. Tech has won 10 or more games five years in a row and is one of just three programs (Southern Cal and Texas) currently on such a streak. Virginia Tech is also one of just three schools (Florida and Florida State) to go to 16 straight bowl games. This goes to show that Tech doesn't rebuild, they reload. With the athletes that are currently signed to Techs '08 recruiting class we should see yet another sound special team’s display. This year we will learn a lot about Tech's defense early thanks to them playing Alabama in the first week. Facing perhaps the best defense NU will face all year, this will be the proving grounds for the QB. If NU cannot get a solid ground game going early this game could look eerily familiar. The play calling from Watson is going to have to be spot on, and technical/mistake free football will be another key. Tech likes to bring a good mixture of blitz packages and zone defense. I suspect that NU will be able to move the ball via rush to open up a few homerun threats. This has all the makings of whichever team has the better defense will win.
  16. Yep total crap but whatcha gonna do in a PC world. Does that come with an automatic BCS bid? If the MWC has its way maybe...not this year though. In correct. Boom M'fer has been in austin 1 year, and they played hard every snap. UT Could very well start #1 next season. Last year was the first one for Muschamp at Texas and they turned into the best D in the Big XII. Do I think Bo is better, yes. Partly because of the NU D turn around from dead last to finishing 2nd in the Big XII, and pretty close to UT in many categories, with a lot less talent and in part because of my Rose Colored Glasses. But also this will be the best defense the Sun Belt has to offer. So if we don't have a good consistancy on O after the FAU game, then this (could) be more fun that previously thought. I will be happy to see this game competative until the third quarter when NU just lights it up. Cause we all know that voters only look at the final scores.
  17. That was '07 the first game of the season lost 21-13 That was the following week of the Mich vs App. State game. Oh so close to another upset that season.
  18. Moving on to week 2 in the 09-10 schedule we have yet another cup cake match up with the Sun Belt Conference...but this time its Arkansas State! Let’s see what they have to offer: Arkansas State (Red Wolf's) 6-6, (3-3) National Stats: #39 in Total Offense #52 in Scoring Offense #79 in Passing Offense #18 in Rushing Offense #46 in Total Defense #53 in Scoring Defense #63 in Pass Defense #32 in Rush Defense Sun Belt Conference Stats (per game): #3 in Total Offense: 398.0 #3 in Scoring Offense: 27.0 #6 in Passing Offense: 195.5 #2 in Rushing Offense: 202.50 #2 in Total Defense: 336.5 #2 in Scoring Defense: 23.8 #2 in Pass Defense: 211.3 #1 in Rushing Defense: 125.17 Most embarrassing loss: 35-0 vs. Alabama (Utah>Bama>Arkansas State ) Most embarrassing win: 83-10 vs. Texas Southern (Seriously Texas Southern ) Most impressive win: 18-14 vs. Texas A&M (Beat a BCS conference team...although it’s tA&M ) Most heart breaking loss: 22-21 vs. Florida International (anytime you lose by 1 point your going to be salty ) Key Offensive returning player: I had to have two here both are sum what impressive; QB Corey Leonard (Sr.) 2008 Passing Stats: 130.7 QB rating (#3 in Conf.), 2347 Passing yards (#4 in Conf.), 16 TD, 8 Int Rushing Stats: 157 attempts, 516 yards (#11 for rushing in Conf. & he's a QB ), 3.3 yard avg, 4 TD Corey's passing stats were not all that impressive but his dual threat ability can make for a long day, (i.e. Baylor's QB Griffin last year). Corey was named to the Sun Belt 2nd team all conf team. RB Reggie Arnold (Sr.) 2008 Stats: 1074 yards (#3 in Conf.), 5.5 yard avg (#6 in Conf.), 7 TD (#6 in Conf.) Reggie is only one of two returning 1k yard rushers in the conference next season. So it’s hard not to ignore his ability to help carry the team and being a senior he will be looked upon for leadership. Reggie earned 1st team all conf. honors. Key Defensive returning player: DE Alex Carrington (Sr.) 2008 Stats: 36 solo tackles, 17 assisted tackles, 53 total tackles, 19 TFL, 10.5 sacks (one shy of a Conf. record), 1 forced fumble, 1 blocked punt, 1 Int, 2 pass breakups This kid has a motor that doesn't quit at 6'5" 280lbs he has a good frame to really break away. Alex earned Sun Belt defensive player of the year & 1st team all conf. honors. This team was one game away from playing for the conference championship. After the end of season loss to Troy the team was sitting 6-6 and was thus snubbed from bowl consideration. ASU's previous bowl appearance was in '05 New Orleans bowl with a loss to Southern Miss. Look for this team to be an almost mirror image of the '08 Baylor Bears. They have the dual threat to go along with a decent rushing attack. This team has 18 seniors lost due to graduation and 5 of them being offensive linemen. But don't be fooled this team has plenty of depth to cover the loss. The skill players on this team will all be a healthy mix of senior's and juniors so look for a veteran team wanting to make an impact. Five different players under ASU Head Coach Steve Roberts have now been named the Sun Belt’s Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year or Newcomer of the Year. ASU’s 2008 team had 11 All-Sun Belt Conference choices and is the most to any all-conference team since 1986 when it was a member of the Southland Conference. The Red Wolves have now seen at least nine players tabbed All-SBC each of the last four years and had the second most selections among the league’s eight teams this season. Coach Roberts has been the head coach at Arkansas State University since 2002. Before coming to ASU, he had been the head coach at Southern Arkansas University (1994-1999) and Northwestern State University in Louisiana (2000-2001). He has an overall record of 78-76-1, in his 6 seasons at ASU (Sun Belt Conf.) he is 31-41 with one bowl trip. His two seasons at Northwestern State (Southland Conf.) he was 12-11, and at Southern Arkansas U. (Independent) he was 35-24-1. So in week 1 we go from a middle of the pack Sun Belt team, to week 2 a possible leader of the pack Sun Belt team. I don't suspect a real struggle here; if NU is able to lock down the rush offense anything like last season this might be another run away. Yet another perfect opportunity for NU to test multiple QB's throughout the game, and earn some more experience for that RFr. class. Please feel free to respond/talk, or just tell me to stop writing these things LOL.
  19. Haha true, but I, and hopefully all you guys too, are not like that. You'll find those people west of us in Fuffalo country. Unfortunately, Douglas County (our most populous county where Omaha is located) has one of the highest STD rates in the nation...I mean come on if you can't find a rubber just grab a sack from Wal-mart.. I keed..I keed.
  20. I say let the kid play both. I remember when Dennis Dixon (oregon QB) was doing the same thing. He was on track to win the Heisman, and land a Major's gig. More power too ya Cooper, just don't burn yourself out kid!
  21. That would be the plan, but don't be surprised if Watson wants to work out his QB's if there isn't a clear cut starter after fall camp. I really don't hope we have the 2 QB thing, it just dosn't workout alot.
  22. Let's hope so, they had alot of RS seniors graduate and having a Sun belt Champ in 07' and a good bowl win in 08'. They might upgrade thier athlete stock a little, but NU shouldn't have a hard time with them. Thier coach uses the pass to open up the run, so we will get a good game (scrimmage) out of this to shore up any pass defense issues that might plague us at the start of the season. If this game is competative past the half then Im really gonna be worried about NU's O-line and the ability to run the ball against anyone.
  23. Just spend some time with that lady friend of yours in your sig... lol I wish. You mean you don't know her? Thread jackers!!!!
