  1. do we need another thread like this? there are sooo many just like it
  2. Pedersen will be shown the door in Febuary or early March.......I can see him staying on only with a bowl game....... The President will have to make a move after the recruits ink their letters unless we get a bowl game.
  3. Gosh...if that is all it costs to be able to call the shots...i'm goin to ask for some of my money back....... I think it is poor taste to assume that I don't help the program....If I got what I have paid for...we would all be happier
  4. Hmmmmmmm....interesting....very interesting....but he'll still be available after next year when Cally gets canned. will he be available?............I think so....He is a decent guy who seems to be very good at what he does...I like the midwest roots and the fact that he wil be coming from a Big 12 school....big time texas connections I don't see him goin to a small school.......I would say that if NU offers 1.25 million per year for 4 years with a mutual option on the 5 and 6th year...he would take the job.....especially with a decent human being as A D
  5. We will be in a terrible spot if we fire our coach and AD...and if we fire BC.....we got to fire Pud as well.... Pedersen is a goner if we lose to KSU...NO DOUBT
  6. we need a new AD...a guy who will take his time getting the coach we need...not run around the country with no real plan B C gets one more year...and he is bringing in decent talent...or so the experts say fire him now and we lose two years...
  7. The sane choice is to fire Pedersen ..let BC bring in a decent recrootin class and then let the New Ad take stock after next season
  8. Dave I'm goin to take this post as a positive although I don't care for you telling people we aren't homies....live and let live Just One Win baby! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
  9. How inventive. Pick on the same quote that everyone else does. Boo hoo remember the good times, remember this remember that. That's all I heard this weekend and it makes me want to vomit by now. If it's so bad, sell all your husker gear and never go to a game again. Problem solved. Now that is a true "tough love" stance. As usual it conveniently ignores any facts that would counter the guys points. What have you done for me lately, well not much. We are not as good as we should be, You guys know I have defended the current staff for along time....but it's time to put up a win...not alot to ask...just a win....... If DaveH and the rest of the Koolaid crew wants to run us down and try to make us feel less than N for wanting to win one game then I don't need this board I can live without this board.......fact is , The Program is in trouble and we NEED to fire Pedersen after the KSU loss(if it happens)......BC will have to be kept on until we put a new AD in place This will all be null and void if we can win one game.....have we fell this far that it is crazy or Un-Husker like , to want to win 6 games? I'm sure that we all agree that this program needs one win . PS..........Tough love, means knowing when to pull the plug....Pedersen needs to go, and he needs to go now....That will give the Next AD a chance to evaluate the program without any loyalty to any one coach or booster. Tough Love.....think about it Dave....you may want to rethink the vomit therapy Your Close Friend Armistead
  10. why do we need a name...we need a good young coach, I for one wanted Turner Gill when I first heard that TO was stepping down.......The whole circus that has become the Nebraska Atheltic Dept. is the reason for our failure.
  11. 5-6 is a no-brainer...clean house We need to fire BC if we go 5-5 this year...we need to cut him loose and Let Cosgrove run the team for the week and then pull the plug on the whole lot this is not right...the Huskers had the edge coming in and we can't weem to stop anybody anymore...the defense is the worst in the north....the Huskera are the worst team in the north...we are only slightly better than Okie State and Baylor. That is a fact....this Staff needs to beat KSU or we nedd to fire tham and Pud next Sunday
  12. 5-6 is a no-brianer...clean house number We need to fire BC if we go 5-5 this year...we need to cut him loose and Let Cosgrove run the team for the weak and then pull the plug on the whole lot this is not right...the Huskers had the edge coming in and we can't weem to stop anybody anymore...the defense is the worst in the north....the Huskera are the worst team in the north...we are only slightly better than Okie State and Baylor. That is a fact....this Staff needs to beat KSU or we nedd to fire tham and Pud next sunday
  13. I have thru a reliable source that DaveH is 14 ....can this be true?
  14. Smith plays TE in Highschool?
  15. This is a nice pick-up...I wonder what kind of hands he has got....we could use a big TE who can move and catch
  16. got to like the size...if he adds 15 or 20 pounds and keeps the 40 time under 5 seconds...he will be a stud.... Good size......you can't coach size.....I like to see the offense trying to pass over guys who are 6-4 or bigger. This is a nice pick-up
  17. I agree with most everything you say (to some extent), and you make some great points. However, I disagree with the post quoted. billy c and pud are certainly to blame. pud botched the whole hiring process, and took a grab on an unsuccessful coach. You can get all the talent you want, but it does no good if you don’t develop them and put them in position to win. And what happens when you don’t get the athletes you need?? This staff hasn’t been able to show the ability to develop and gameplan. From bad schemes to bad game plans, to not understanding the traditions of NU, to being too robotic and uncaring, I’m sorry but this entire coaching staff is totally inept. Absolutely atrocious. The fake FG against OU, the game plans against MU (both O and D), constantly using outside zone running plays when they are getting blown up by more athletic teams, to (very Solich like) calling multiple screen passes on 3rd and long, these guys are just not good Div I level coaches. This team is honestly not getting any better, and is just a couple of plays away from being 2-6 this year. I wouldn’t expect it to get better any time soon. You don't win the AFC Championship without the skills to coach, I think that you are so programmed to seeing the N on the Helmet and think they will win, and when they don't you blame the staff.... I know that if BC wins saturday, we will be bowl bound and that is a huge step for a team that was thrown on the trash heap by Bill Bryne, Tom Osbourne and Frank Solich....they did'nt do it for spite, but they did it just the same. we are on the way back........but I'm done with anyone who can't see the forrest for the tree..... We are a 6-5 team maybe 7-4 thats it Next year I want to be a 7-4 or 8-3 team and so on and on Former, you got to admit....If BC gets us to a bowl game after the circus that has gone down over the past 4 years.....he has done a decent job with what he has.
  18. A couple of thoughts. First of all, I'm getting really sick and tired of people using Solich recruits as an excuse. Last year, I kind of bought it until Solich recruits did so well at the NFL Combine's. The receivers for the most part, I believe are mostly BC recruits. The sack leader in D1 (up to last week anyway) was a Solich recruit. Most of the impact players on defense this year are Solich recruits. Our one bright spot on offense (Ross) is a Solich recruit. We knew Herian was going to be a long shot at returning this year after last year's Mizzou game. However, we didn't go out and get a really good tight end through juco or incoming freshmen. This was not Solich's call. Last year, the OL was a big surprise to the good side. This year, the OL is a big surprise to the bad side. Murtha got burnt big time on the opening drive and didn't see a lot of playing time the rest of the half. I know our incoming players are young and green, but a lot of other teams are making the best of their freshman (Penn State, Texas, OU, etc.). I don't know how the rest of the season unfolds. I'm eating crow right now and paying out big time for the OU loss. I thought KU would be a cake walk, but now I'm not thinking so. I think we lose to CU for sure. The other two on the schedule are a toss up. I would not be surprised to be 6-5 or 5-6 at the end of the season with the way we're playing. However, the Big 12 North is particulary soft this year. There was no reason we shouldn't have been in the hunt to play in the championship game. Those hopes right now seem increasingly slim unless CU falls hard in the next 3 games. I find it amazing how everyone was lauding Taylor at one point this season. However, everyone was lauding Dailey after the spring game last year. I don't think Taylor's arm is particularly week, he just doesn't have enough time to throw a long ball. In terms of the running situations, I guess I'm not going to say he's missing them. Last year, the coaching staff didn't want Dailey running much because we didn't have a good backup. I think the staff doesn't want Taylor running much for the same reason. When he has run, he's been effective. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Taylor is a bandaid QB. Nothing more nothing less. He's showed tremendous heart and courage, but he wasn't brought in here being tagged the next Montana or things of that nature. It will be simply amazing if Beck doesn't have to play some in the next 3 games because I just can't see Taylor not getting hurt if he continues to get pummeled as he has the last 2 games. We probably don't make it to the Big 12 title game this year. However, we had just as good a shot at it as anyone. The biggest disappointment this year has to be T A&M. They have been taken to the woodshed this year by some pretty bad teams (ISU). OU is a better team than advertised. Their 3 losses come to teams with a combined record of 21-1. I don't think we should be too shook up over losing to them. The Mizzou game is really the only game we should be hanging our head over especially seeing how Mizzou did against KU. It's just one game at a time from here on out. We're still playing to be bowl eligible. There's still a lot to work for! I did not make any excuses...I'm not drinking the red kool-aid.....Solich left us with little to no depth, I said it was like we put ourselves on probation........I don't care what Ruud or Fabian did in the combine....where is the rest of the highly toutes recruits that Solich landed.........the answer is that their are none...... Quit trying to blame BC for the lack of Talent.....If Bradley and Octavien are healthy we may be undefeated, but they are not and we are way to thin to cover those losses
  19. This is a team with a weak O-line, an average QB, decent RB's but nothing special. This team Lacks depth at the WR position and no serious gamebreaker...there is very little speed at WR. The Defense is above average, although the injuries at LB have really hurt this team in the Missouri, Texas Tech and OU games...IMO, had we had Octavien in those games, we would have won atleast 1 of them if not 2. The D-line seems to be the best unit on the team, it is why we have won five games. The special teams have been as good as anybody could have expected and I see improvement every game. The Huskers were allowed to degrade thru neglect, we are not the same team as we were a few years back, the stadium is there , the weightrooms, the offices, coaches and staff are all there. The trappings of a national power are there as well, the trophy is full, heisman winners come home on saturdays in the fall, the expectations are always there, and until Saturday reality was absent. Sure we saw the tough losses from last year, the streaks coming to an end. We said a break here or there , a different Qb, a new scheme was all that was needed. I hope after Saturday, that you guys see this team for what it is, a young team that has about half the tools it needs to compete at the level the fan expect. Why are we here now? The program finds itself in this position because of several key factors, most of which can be laid at the feet of Tom Osbourn and Bill Byrne. Tom got a little big for his britches at the end of his great run, who can blame him?...Bill always seemed to want to make Tom respect his position and never felt like he was in control. Tom won in the end and he gave us a poor transiton from his staff to what we have today....Solich was never really the head coach, he never put together his own staff, he had to contend with T. O.'s holdovers and that doomed him in the end. Solich was a decent man who gave a large part of his life to the Huskers, and in return the people of Nebraska, the fans and Boosters made him and his family wealthy...seems fair to me, but in the end Frank was not a recruiter and his inabilty to hire his own staff killed any shot at long term success, when T. O.'s players were gone so was the winning. The program's lack of talent can be traced directly back to Solich and Osbourn, there is no need to blame Pederson or Bill Callahn, theyhad nothing to do with the current situation. I know that Pedersen lacks a certain amount of tact, but his heart is in the right place, Bill Callahan probably wanted this job more than we needed him but here we are. The Program is looking up despite the rough spots that we have encountered, every so-called expert agrees the Huskers are national players in the recruiting wars agin.....we have had the best overall talent recruited in the last two years, that is certainly steps in the right direction.....The class we are build this year seems to hold a promise of feeling the talent gap, we should have the best class in the North for the second straight year. This is how I see the talent levels in the Big 12 1) Texas 2) OU 3) Texas A & M 4)Missouri 5)Texas Tech 6) Nebraska 8) KSU 9)Colorado 10)Baylor 11)KU 12)ISU I know the list does not reflect the current standings, and CU is low on the list ,but that is because ther last 2 classes have been horrible, they will take a tumble next year and I don't see them coming back soon.....KSU is up there because the have had good years until last year, KSU's class this year is not goin to be very good and that will hurt them in the long run.....Missouri is the real surprise, they have had classes in the top 30 for 5 straight years, they have better overall talent than any school in the north, if they keep Pinkle and he can coach at all he should turn them into a winner. Until we get the depth and quality backinto the program, we will not return to the top of the North.....things are goin the right way, a bowl game this year and 8 wins next year would be just what we need. I say that we are asking alot and we should , but we also have to understand where we are and how we got here......Give BC a break and lets hope we keep getting the good young talent into the program Look out in 08'
