  1. Ummmm, you're Nebraska? You're obviously a closet Husker fan! My guess is that for the 22 year span from 1980 to 2001 when SC was completely irrelevant to college football, you were riding the husker bandwagon! Now that SC has risen from the dead, you call yourself an SC fan. You must have really enjoyed your time as a Husker fan because you've been hanging around here so long that you've forgotten that you should be stinking up a Washington st message board this week. Sound about right! I'd say neither a true SC fan nor Husker fan. Some people are inherently d-bags. It's unfortunate, but a fact of life.
  2. Man, all I can say is.....you used the term "LOL." Fight On! LOL!
  3. Ummmm, you're Nebraska? Probably should have re-worded that...I should say, "we have some of the best facilities in college football." Unless, your 'ummm, you're Nebraska?' comment is related to our geographic location?
  4. I was at the NU v MU game of 1997. First trip to Columbia. And, our "seats" were at the base of the "M" white rock. We were amongst both Nebraska and Missouri fans...predominately Mizzou fans...especially the youngins'. Everything went well, right up to the point where it seemed as if Mizzou was going to beat Nebraska. Now, I don't want to criticize a particular fan-base, however, I will say this: the Mizzou fans in our area began to "chuck" small chunks of rocks at us...small chunks from that white "M." It was time to leave. We decided to leave, and made our way up to the concession area...with the TVs. My friends and I soon witnessed the drive and, subsequently, "the catch." All in all, the road trip to Columbia is a great time. The fans are insane, as the MU campus is "wet." I've been to 3 Nebraska games in Mizzou....the 1997 game was the Sh*%. The 1999 game, an empty bottle of Jack Daniels narrowly missed a friend's head. The 2001 game...yup...the Crouch run. All in all...I can say my trips to Columbia have been downright great. Course, I was also privy to witness two of the recent greatest plays in Nebraska Football history. I consider myself lucky...it seems that many "historic" moments took place in Columbia.
  5. ...we also struggled against Wake Forest. WAKE FOREST!!!! Can you Husker fans imagine the "State of the Husker Nation" if Bowman hadn't intercepted that pass in the endzone? Yes, USC is ranked #1. And? That #1 ranking does not justify what I've witnessed this season. If a true, realistic Husker fan is here...I hope that some skepticism exists about the rest of our season. I'm downright scared about our conference schedule! Let alone...Ball State. Parity, schmarity. With our budget, athletic facilities, stadium and overall support of the program...we shouldn't be in this position! After all, aren't we the "best fans in college football"? Shouldn't we expect more? I think, deep down, those facts are what bother me the most. We have, likely, the best facilities in college football. What's the problem???
  6. http://wearesc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=93252#post93252 Regardless of all going on...I guess this made me feel somewhat better. Although I would rather have the best team AND the best fans, this is pretty cool. Still, I can't help but wonder if I'd trade the best fans for the best team? Discuss amongst yourselves.

  10. Just FTR, Bill Byrne took the "corn" out of "Cornhuskers", not SP. Really? Apologies. I thought I remembered hearing, soon after the coaching change, that SP had changed us to just "Huskers." Maybe I'm just grouping all the blame on SP due to him changing our Herbie Husker mascot into a creepy, child-molester-esque freak wearing wranglers way too tight for his or our own good. I still dig Lil' Red, though. In short, I don't like our new mascot.
  11. But here it is...come hell or high water, I'm with the Huskers. Either you are or aren't. Can't stomach a season that could go south? Might not look pretty to a national sports media that could already care less about NU? That's ok, go monitor your 'wemustfireallNUcoaches.com' website 24/7 and go away until the perfect NU season comes around so you can tell us all that 'you told us so.' I've been with the Huskers since I was born (1978). Fortunately, during my earlier years, I was treated to a dominant team...I was spoiled. I figured...this is what Nebraska football [/i]is. However, I (along with the rest of HuskerNation) have since been through the one of the biggest "reality-checks" that Husker fans probably have ever had to go through (2002-?). I still get friggin' pumped for every damn game...have ever since I was out of my mother's womb. It's inherent. When watching the Skers, people tell me to "calm down" or "it's only a game." I think they just don't understand. I just have qualms with those that say you are either with us or you aren't--referring to questioning or analysis of our situation. I am with the Huskers regardless, and I always will be...100 percent. End of story. The above quote, however, is the same logic that President Bush used to demonize those that questioned the Iraq war. And I still don't get it. I had a few questions/concerns, yet I am hardly anti-patriotic. Perhaps I just do not possess the intelligence of Mr. Bush? I don't think ANYONE should be fired, especially right now! However, when the simplest of runs can not be stemmed...the very same draws up the gut we defended against in High School...it throws a few warning flags up...at least to me.
  12. While I agree that patience is key as a Nebraska fan right now, I also believe that a little bit of caution should be shown. I was in early high-school during the "dominance" of the 90's, so I remember what it was like. And though we will likely never again achieve the long-term dominance of the TO era, I can't help but be a little bit scared. I'm not a Solich-apologist. However, the minute that Nebraska's history (Nebraska-players/assistants...became Nebraska coaches) was "out-sourced", I lost some of what made me proud to be a born-and-bred Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Oh, that's right...we're now known as the Nebraska Huskers (thanks S.P). I just look at all the changes that have taken place since the coaching switch. The infrastructure updates were awesome...and I thank SP for that. However, what's with our new mascot? What happened to the Cornhuskers? And while I KNOW that we can not judge our current status by one lackluster performance against the #1 team in the country...I also know that silence, apathy and too much trust in our AD and coaches could land us right in the spot where Notre Dame is. Does anyone here think their fan-base saw this ridiculous downswing coming? Sorry to be "hatin'", but seriously.
  13. USC Tradition- Nowhere in the rules does it say that name calling is not allowed (as long as it does not contain profanity). Whether or not you find the term "d-bag" as profanity...is a subjective matter. I'm also yet to see another comment where one "tells" on another.
  14. If we haven't learned to defend that play, then my name ain't Nathan Arizona.
  15. I agree it was weird. Just figured we Husker fans could use a little humor...to maybe lower our blood pressure. If only for a few moments.
  16. I see it's been about .5 of an hour and USC Trojan is already creating a ruckus. I agree, the game this weekend is a long-shot for the skers. Young was simply referring to the "home field advantage." I can only assume that you were being facetious. Or even more likely...a d-bag. If there is one thing USC is known for...it is its d-bags.
  17. This is completely unrelated to the flyover...but pretty damn funny.... There are expletives, just a warning.
  18. Those are the same planes that the Russian's fly in Top Gun. woohoo.
  19. I didn't see them...trees pretty much block the view. I'm guessing either F-18s or 15s.
  20. I live just about 8 blocks south of Memorial Stadium. I heard fighter jets doing practice flyovers about an hour ago. Should be sweet.
