  1. Not all Sooner fans believe Venables is a bad DC. It was not the defense that lost the game in Boulder. They were on the field the whole second half. Of the 24 points we scored, 14 were set up by the defense. With the offenses used today, it is next to impossible to have 3 and outs all the time, especially if a decent quarterback is throwing the ball. Ball control offenses play a very large part in a defense's success during Longhorn(steer) cutting time. I am not saying you should consider BV. We would miss him, contrary to some ignorant Sooner fans belief. A good defensive minded guy who knows how to hire the right OC seems to do well.
  2. I saw someone had mentioned Paul Johnson as a possible candidate? Is there any interest in returning to option football? I always hear that in today's day and age the option will not work, but I am not buying into that. Granted scores go from 45-34 to 28-17 but a win is a win. Something about watching that PERFECT pitch and sprint down the sideline gets me going more than that 80 yard bomb ever did? My heart always races when I see someone line up in the old I, the bone, or the flex.
  3. Just my perception, and definitely not making comparisons here, Coach Stoops is big into the " Family Friendly" environment. If I remember, correctly, one day a week is even scheduled as family day. Is there a fear that he would select coaches that are not necessarily all that good but are "family".
  4. John Blake! Boy that stirs the pot in Sooner Nation! The funny thing is JB could recruit the talent! I guess he was just not sure where to place it during gametime. I never will completely understand those years. I see what you mean about experience. Nothing like having it. Are there any other current home grown coaches that would respect the traditions and completely restore the walk-on program. I always found that to be so cool. A good strengh and conditioning coach can do wonders.
  5. Just out of curiosity, have there ever been any thoughts on the possibility of having Turner Gill as a head coach? It seems that he has started some good things at Buffalo and they seem to be more competitive this year. Just curious.
  6. Thanks All! Oh yeah I will definitely be dropping in from time to time. I must admit, living in Florida now, I do not get all the news on the Big12. I bet you all can help me keep up. Out here it is nothing but Gators here or Seminoles there. Thank goodness for the internet.
  7. Hello All! First off, yes I am a big time OU fan. Always have been, always will. That being said, I have the utmost respect for Husker football and pulled for you when, of course, we were not facing each other. Before this gets too corny, I just wanted to say this; A few years ago, I had the good fortune of going to the Senior Bowl. OU was in the midst of some very low years which was really frustrating for the Sooner Nation and myself. I had the good fortune of meeting up with Cornhusker fans during the game. This was during Mr. Osbornes latter years and you guys were racking up the titles. As we were talking, those fans were extremely nice and expressed their belief that it would not be long before the Sooners were back and feeding the monster again. After that we just enjoyed the game and talked of the good old days when our game was IT and usually a chance for all the marbles. I really appreciated that gesture and just wanted to return the favor. Coach Tom knows what to do and will help right the ship. Here's hoping that it will be extremely quick and order will be restored. I have to say, it brought back a flood of memories when we matched up in the big 12 championship last year. For that one day, all was right in college football again. And YES, I thought that before the final outcome was decided! Good Luck! Here's hoping for more head to head matchups and great memories!
