  1. Great article and a lot of truth in what he said about what the team needs. We havent had a great pass rush since the 97 team that handed Manning his posterior. I am confident we(the team) will show marked improvement over last year. Mainly because of all the things stated on other threads: recruiting, JC and such. Glad to hear FF hasnt changed. Keep it up I like the obvious ploy of repeating all the same old rhetoric. Its a free country. GBR
  2. Since I grew up in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's oops havent stopped. No I feel that the OU rivalry ceased to be an annual tradition when the Big 8 was changed to the Big 12. The only way it could have continued is if OU was part of the Big 12 N division. IMO Now I think there is more rivalry between CU and NU. JMHO GBR
  3. With a scroll wheel on a mouse it is easiest to view a lot of threads instead of turning pages. The very fervent topics will require pages anyway THX for asking GBR
  4. From my beliefs and as always optimistic outlook CHAMPS BABY GBR
  5. Cops have a job to do. Do the crime u know the rest I dont think u can call that profiling but the chances that a LPD unit rolls up to a house on campus chances are real good the party may have an athlete or twenty in attendance. The normal students that get busted dont make headlines.
  6. I am curious as to how everyone feels about instant replays. The Big 10 tried it for a season and now the ACC is going to give it a shot. There was the 83 PSU game it would have been great to use and I can think of any number of other games where it could have made a difference. GBR
  7. Congrats Turner, www.packers.com/news/releases/2005/02/10/1/ This link from the packers site. Im sure he will succeed at this new opportunity and let his faiith lead him in the best direction. We know ya beat PSU that year. GBR GBR GBR GBR
  8. hoyamann, I like the way you think and keep the faith. Optimistically speaking, IMO 7-4 or 8-3 would be a great start to cap a great recruiting season and to start another. I have to agree with IRISH also. We could go 6-5 but it would be an improvement and get us a bowl game(anywhere in Ca ). I would love to see GBR kick some righteous butt and go 8-3 then again who knows maybe 10-1 By the way TT gets a new QB but the same receivers so I dont think they will post 60 on us unless we put in a QB to throw 5 TD passes to the wrong team GBR
  9. Their talent level should carry them for several years no matter who coaches them. If their recruiting starts to decline then I can see them become another routine Pac10 team. GBR
  10. B sounds best. I thought that C might be okay until I thought about it. I normally just look at Sker Football and Recruiting and an occassional look at the ladies, so B it is. GBR THX
  11. A for recruits and coaches. As always a A+ for GBR fans.
  12. The 70's were the 70's, 80's= 80's, 90's etc. Those great D's werent just about LB's or D-line. They had it all. The 90's with out a doubt had some of the greatest D ever, especially TEAM SPEED. Tomich, Wistrom, Peters', etc. Not just LB's or Dline or CB,SS or whatever. This year with the JUCO's IMO the D becomes more effective with pressure from several points. The line and LB speed. The D backs are the big question and the Jucos and Frosh may have to be men right away. Doesnt matter. The D will be better and the O wont fold as quick IMHO Damn aint I brave, nah just another fan with optimism!!!
  13. Most people dont realize why the colleges recruit more in certain areas. Where I live in So Cal. there are more people in this county than in all of NE. Just by population alone the odds that there are more good people playing out here is justified by numbers. If NE had 20000000 people then they would naturally have a larger base of talent to draw from. Just dont forget what else comes with that. More smog, crime, gridlock, etc. NEBRASKA truly is the good life. I miss it daily. So I get back there whenever I can. GBR
  14. Yeah I never could have played D1 ball either I was too small but I made up for it by being real slow (Robert Duval) I remember seeing guys in HS who were stars(Lincoln and Waverly) and went to NU and were average at best. D1 is a whole new ballgame: remember Maury Damkroger fantastic HS player but wasnt a fantastic D1 player. I know ancient history. Sorry GBR
  15. Wasn't it Alexander that ran 50-60 yards ? for a TD against CO at Boulder and outran their whole D backfield with all those speedy little guys?
  16. I would think the coaches have a pretty good idea after watching a lot of film on the recruits what position they should play. Maybe some can train for multiple positions if the need is there. I think (IMHO) that BC will play two backs especially if one is a good blocker and can catch the ball (not all the time). Gives the opposing LB's something to think about having to watch two safety valves. And dare I say it maybe even have the qb toss an option on occasion if the situation warrants it. Might see some of that with JD now that there are other qbs to use also. Nah. Just funnin!!!!!!! GBR
  17. I was very impressed with what BC and Co did last year with little time. DAMN look what they have done with a full year. Even with a 5-6 record they recruit a bunch of great prospective players. If they can play like their rating MAN WOMAN AND CHILD GBR
  18. These coaches did a pretty great job recruiting in such a short time last year. Now they are showing what they can do given more time to concentrate on the recruiting process. My guess is that this year will be more in tune with what BC and company have in mind for the football program. The staff is going to put the best players on the field. To me that is good coaching, play the best and work hard helping the others improve. GBR
  19. For the older skers that saw the plays live: sorry dont know names of any plays 1. Johnny Rodgers any return for TD then 2. Tommie Frazier 75yd TD run 3. Stuntz to Crouch vs. OU 4. Ahman Green TD run against CO around left end 5. All the GREAT BLACKSHIRT HIGHLIGHTS sorry too many to call *** GBR **** All the games broadcast by Lyle Bremser
  20. Its hard to argue with that especially since he is an instate guy. What would Husker Nation do if the Ruud's had said that or Rimington. Head on a pike maybe? no not northern LOL Look at MU last year some good games and some horrible, just like ours only they had some great talent and no annual coaching changes. Brooks should bring the Husker Nation threat level to RED. GBR
  21. With Suh and Brooks committing the 05 is lookin pretty good GBR Yeah Baby
  22. IMO if both lines improve and the quarterback???? can hit the open man then the yards will come. Those two WR's from Tx seem to be tall enough and quick enough but it sounds like that wasnt the trouble last year. Granted getting the best offensive recruits will improve the team but maybe not immediately. Like BC said the WCO hinges on the play of the qb so Harrison Beck/Zac Taylor/Jordan Adams/Joe Dailey and company need to find the open man. Hit the open man and they will come Of course, that includes the JUCO players coming in this year too.! GBR
  23. I wholeheartedly agree with the moderators. I will refrain from making any sarcastic or derogatory remarks or posts. I just get tired of hearing the same old song and dance on every thread and have to joke about it or worse.. Sorry GBR
  24. The NE Pats????? And you are serious? I do believe all their eligibility has been exhausted and they all have agents!!! The bench warmers in the NFL could mop up any NCAA team period. Cream of the crop and all that. were you thinkin about. What about the Boston Red Sox should they come and play too?
  25. With such a morally bankrupt lying and cheating adminstration and coaching staff why o why are we getting so many good recruits to commit? Are they just like the staff and admin similar to what the other teams in the 90's were. Nobody is perfect. Every team has problems. This team is no exception but how many bad apples has BC let go to get the team where it should be? I predict many of these recruits are pretty good god fearing people and there may be some gangsters too. As long as BC doesnt recruit more people like Incognito (who recruited him?) I think the integrity and pride will be just fine. GBR
