  1. He had a good game -- I was pleasantly surprised. I don't know how much of the difference was his play vs. improvement from the O-Line though. It did give me goosebumps to see Nebraska come out and pop UT in the jaw with 5 or 6 runs in a row on their opening series. They couldn't finish it, but it did actually work for a while there. It's cool that Lucky has/will have the receptions record. The fact that it has quite a bit to do with Callahan's shift of offensive system does little to tarnish it.
  2. I have lost all respect for Husker fans. They will drive whatever happens to this team over the next few years. I agree that they way we've broken down in the face of all this *soul crushing adversity* is unfortunate. Unfortunate, but totally understandable and to be expected frankly. The thought that the fans will be responsible for what has happened or will happen to the team in the future is laughable.
  3. Who knows if they get them back or not. What I think is they need to be rewarded with something to hang thier hats on for the HUGE improvement. I hope they come away feeling better than last week or the week before. They need the confidence boost to get back to playing great defense. I know what you mean. I very much believe that the players deserve to be recognized for that great effort yesterday. They could have rolled over and died, but they didn't. The Huskers aren't that far gone and I for one am very relieved by that. A win was really needed and would have been nice, but at least they showed us that they wanted it as bad (probably more) than we did. Still, that rushing defense stat is just incredible. Commendable or not, guts isn't enough to win games when your rushing D is worst in all Division I-A (or whatever they call it now).
  4. Ouch -- That's really unbelievable. I wonder if they'll give 'em back the blackshirts this week anyway...
  5. Yes, this Nebraska team is terrible. No matter how much we're looking for the bright side, we'll have to feel that way when we look back on this year. Err... Scratch that. We'll never ever look back on this year again. But this week, they did at least show some guts and that's commendable. At least this week did not add fuel to this fiasco... For me, it underlined the fine line between winning and losing. And yes, perhaps that's a cop-out, but it's a lot better than another 30 point blowout. (But how the mighty have fallen, eh?)
  6. I would say that quarterback play in general was a bright spot on a day that ended up rather painfully. I was impressed with Ganz, but honestly with Keller too finally. He was something like 10 for 11 at one point in the first half right?
  7. Great effort today guys. Thanks for showing us that you haven't given up. (And man, do I ever loathe the Longhorns...) (And for the record, nobody is happy with 4-5. But if we had been blown out by 30 points again I would have seriously lost my mind.)
  8. It isn't enough, but it's better than anything we've seen for a good long while. On the one hand, this was even worse because I actually started to believe again for a while. But in the long run, I'll gladly take real effort and my team playing like they have a pair over the fiasco we've seen lately. I'll gladly give the *players* credit for playing a real game and for fighting until the end. Unlike the Huskers of old, they lost again, but just like the old Huskers, they didn't give up.
  9. Hi gang, Just another lost husker looking for a people who can understand my obsession. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? As long as I can remember -- I moved to Omaha when I was 2 years old. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? That would be my dad, watching games back in the day on TV. 3) Where are you from originally? Born in Lawrence, KS, moved to Omaha from age 2 to 11. 4) Where do you live now? Berkeley, CA 5) Favorite Husker memory? Tommie Frazier's 50 (or so) yard run in the 1995 Orange Bowl against Florida... Man that was something. 6) Worst Husker memory? Possibly the 1983 2-point conversion against Miami. My Jayhawk cousin gave me endless **** for years about that... 7) Number of home games attended? None, sadly. 8) Number of away games attended? One -- In Boulder in '95. Option play for a touchdown on the first snap. Ah, the good old days... 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) Anywhere it's possible! It's tough to find on TV in CA. 11) Favorite all time player? Tommie Frazier. Hands down. 12) WCO or Option? Ahem. See name. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Please. HERBIE. 15) Favorite Husker play? Ahem. See name please... 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) Google -- I was desperate for commiseration after the Missouri loss. Thanks guys!!!
