  1. I would rather be favored in a bowl ,and I think we will begetting 7 against Clemson, than be playing someone we have no chance of beating, any ranked team, so we need to focus on the task at hand or we will lose this game.

Wow, what great faith you have in the Huskers. No chance to beat any ranked team huh? I seem to remember taking Texas Tech to overtime when we still playing pretty poorly. We could beat a whole bunch of ranked teams right now, with the way we are playing now.

The only way back to the top is to play the best teams out there. padding our number of wins against lesser teams makes us like K-State. I wish we were playing G-Tech, because they are a much better team than Clemson or FSU.

I'm having trouble understanding why some of you are scared to play a team we may not beat and won't be favored over?? We should want to be challenged as much as possible. Also, if we're gonna win, let's make it over a team that can help our perception Nationally and possibly get us ranked. I have no problem playing Clemson, but I'm just saying beating them is not gonna do anything for our perception. Take it as you want, but beating GT would look alot better!! And, I don't care if we are favored in a game or not, I go into every game knowing if we play hard we can win!!

  2. I by no means think clemson is a push over with the backfield they have. Also, they are one of the hottest teams in football right now. The only problem is perception. I'm sure Clemson thinks the same, like beating Nebraska isn't really going to help in perception of how good they are, just like us beating Clemson people will say that is what they are supposed to do being Nebraska and all. I am just saying beating a top 15 ranked team would have definitely helped with perception Nationally.

  3. Played against Loran Kaiser in state playoffs. He was actually one of St. Paul's RBs. I actually completely smoked him on a running play flat on his back. Everyone after the game was telling me how loud the hit was from the stands. That was pretty cool. Also played against him in B-ball. He was their PG for that. A couple weird positions for a DT to play in High School.

Also, played against Hochstein in B-ball. Hartington CC was way better than us, but we played the game of our lives and beat them. Hochstein actually got a Technical in the game for complaining to the refs.

Played against Gregg List as well in FB and B-ball. His parents' plane crashed leaving our airport after the game my sophmore year. That was terrible.

  4. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm a little disappointed in the match-up with Clemson. I thought a game with FSU would be cool and nostalgic, but also would have been a little disappointed with them too.

I guess I was really looking forward to playing a ranked team to see where we really stand. Now, I know FSU would have been a tough matchup, and Clemson has some mojo back late in the year and will not be a cake walk, but just challenging a top 20 ranked team like Georgia Tech I think would have been great for the team.

I really think it would be neat to be ranked if we win our Bowl Game, but I wasn't so sure a win over FSU would have helped, and I don't know if a win over Clemson will either. But, I do believe if we would have beat Georgia Tech it would have gotten us that much more respect and also ranked.

It just seems, we played our guts out to get to this great New Year's Day bowl, and the match-up with Clemson seems to be a little lackluster. I heard on the radio somewhere that the Gator Bowl didn't know if they could get enough GT fans down to sell out the game and were worried so they picked a team in Clemson they knew would travel well. First off, if GT wouldn't sell it out, the rest of the tix would be picked up by skers fans no problem, and secondly, GT is a ridiculously short drive to JAX. I don't think getting GT fans to the game would have been a problem. Anyways, JMO.

  5. It's gonna take time for Tenneessee to get the coaches put together and get on the same page. Also, no one know what this hire will really do for Tenn. or what the team will look like.

I know Bo has only been here one year, but I think you can see where the program is heading. 8-4 this season, with maybe less talent than last year. We know where the Huskers are heading!!

Now with that said, Giles is an early entry, correct?? He will enroll in January and be around for spring ball. So, I would think he would rather go to a school who isn't in chaos. To a school that knows what direction the program is heading and exactly what the coaches think and can be proven.

  6. I do try and respect those around me. I will sit much of the game because alot of people behind will get pissed. However, I have no problem if someone wants to stand. They paid for their seat AND that little area in front of them where their legs and feet go. I know one poster above said they paid for their seats and seats are for sitting in. Your right, seats are for sitting, but the concrete below your feet is for standing!! So if one person want to use their area to sit, fine, but if another wants to use their area to stand, IT'S THEIR RIGHT!!!

If I was only 4 foot tall and their was a guy SITTING in front of me that was 6'5", should I ask him to crouch or cut of his upper body just so I can see? Some things just can't be helped, and I do feel if someone sits or stands in their seat area, that is their choice. If you are not ready to sit or stand depending on what the person in front of you is doing, then you might want to rethink your decision about coming to a game.

Disclaimer: I do not condone people who stand ON the seats!

  7. I like this idea. The "loud meter" doesn't really even need to be true, just somebody pushing a button to make it go up or down. Either way, if it's loud or soft (the meter), seeing it will probably subjectively make people more prone to yell.

Yep, this is exactly what I was thinking. I know this shouldn't have to be done, but until all the "old school" fans are "gone," this may be a good way to get some competitive spirit between fans going.

  8. I would think if he is willing to come back to Nebraska on an unofficial, we have to have a good shot at this guy, don't we. Why would he travel back out here on his own dime if we weren't right in it for him??

  9. I totally agree. He reminds me of Wes Welker. He is a great kid too.

Wes Welker has to feel like the most special white guy in football. If you are white and show any hint of athleticism, you are automatically compared to Welker.

LOL, so true. He took the 'Athletic White Guy' crown from Ed McCaffrey and never looked back.

    Hey what about me?

    1513.jpg

I would have to say Steve Largent was the original athletic white guy.

  10. I know everyone bitches about how the crowd doesn't get loud enough and won't stand up etc. I agree with you. The "oldies" continually give the "down in front". I know, I hear it EVERY game where I sit in the North endzone.

I will say that I stood more at the Kansas game than I have at the rest of the games combined. I don't know why this was, but it was nice to see. It really has alot to do with the fans in the first rows. So if you are a fan in the front row or two, please stand up and yell, therefore everyone behind you has to stand and then everyone is standing.

Now, to get noise I don't believe you necessarily have to be standing to be loud. I was thinking about a way to get the place loud, and loud all the time.

I don't think it would be possible to ACTUALLY measure this and list it, but really all you would have to do is just throw up a fake meter with fluctuations. What you have up on the boards is a Noise meter divided into N,S,E,W stadiums. You have the meter reading each stadiums noise level and rising and lowering.

If the stadiums level is high they will feel the need to keep it there, if it's low they will feel the need to get louder to be the loudest. I think one thing you can take advantage of with Nebraska fans is their competitive spirit. They all want to be a better fan than the person sitting next to them.

Anyways, just an idea to get some noise and energy in the stadium, especially when we're on defense. It's like when they pump through, "Stand up and Shout," the stadium is then loud. I think with the older crowd at Memorial, they just need someone to tell them or show them with huskervision how and when to be loud.

  11. Nebraska has not played Florida State or Miami since the Orange Bowls of the 1990s.

Really?? What was I doing in 2001 then...

I THINK YOU DREAMED THAT GAME.....I REMEMBER BEING THERE TOO, BUT I HAD JUST WISHED IT WAS A BAD DREAM.....

What?? What?? I remember being in LA for something, but definitely don't remember it being a football game. I think I went there so I could be stuck in traffic for hours.

  12. Class Act!! I have never once heard anything about Chris Brooks complaining about playing time, etc. I was always surprised a little with that because he was a fairly highly touted recruit coming in with alot of hype. I have always wondered why he hasn't come along better than he has, but I will say I have never heard about the guy complaining. This article really shows the great character Chris has, congrats Chris, and good luck in all you do.

  13. I guess that he really wants to go to LSU but they arent going to take him at this time. LSU is really high on a junior named Lache Seastrunk from Temple, Texas. He is probably the best back for next year and has a ton of offers (Nebraska of course). I wish Nebraska was at the point where they are turning down 5 stars. LOL. My bet is the LSU will offer him at some point and he will end up there. If not, I would say that Texas A&M has a spot saved for him.

Can any team in the country really turn down someone as talented as Michael IN HOPES of landing a stud next year??? I don't believe that. First off, the kid is from Texas and those kids are ALWAYS looking for Texas offers and most are going to jump and take it. Also, if you put your stock in him and he gets hurt and never plays again, you just pushed aside a guy like Michael for nothing.

  14. I think we will be fine without him. He hasnt done much the past couple games with injuries and all. Sucks that we are short in that area but we will be fine. I just really liked seeing Cody on that side of the ball. we will probably just [play more DIME package this weekend,

I think he's done quite a lot for the team the past couple of weeks. He was essentially a spy on Sharp for most of the KU game and pretty much shut him down for most of the game. I think we'll use more Dime in general since KSU likes to spread the field and throw the ball. Hopefully Dillard can go on Saturday cause the speed is nice to have at LB.

I've really thought the entire year that Asante should be a LB. I'm not saying move him up this late in the year, but I think next year. But, maybe he's taken some reps at LB during the year. I think Safety is too much to handle for him, too many reads. At LB he he has easier reads and coverage isn't as important(mostly just take a drop). Anyways, JMO, and I think we have some young guys that can step in and do a satisfactory job for KSucks and CUn*.

  15. you would have to be an idiot to challenge Pelini after a blown play....no wonder he did not come back into the game........respect for the coach is basic stuff, if he talked back to Pelini, that was indeed a stupid choice.

I want to make clear, I just reported what I saw. I do not know what, if anything, Rickey said. That's just what it looked like to me from my seat. I don't know why Bo would of acted that way unless Rickey said something or made an excuse Bo didn't like.

  16. The last time I remember Rickey being in he blew a tackle on KU's second TD, but you are right he deserved to be in and was bringing fire and energy to the D like no one else does.

I personally saw what happened from my seat. He missed the tackle that went for the touchdown and came over to the sideline. Bo came over and said something to him and it looked like Ricky said something to Bo, then Bo walked straight at him, got his face right up to his facebook and let him have it about something. And, that was the last time Ricky was in. Saw O'hanlon the rest of the game.

  17. Stanford is Stanford, great education, but football, not so much. Nebraska, great football and damn good education. Big thing to watch here is alot of rumors around about Harbaugh being next coach in Oakland(big mistake in my opinion, but Harbaugh says he LOVES Al Davis and has history with him). So if Harbaugh leaves, I'd say that commitment isn't very solid.

  18. Scout now lists and rivals has a teaser, 2 BIG time DL recruits visiting this weekend:

    4 :star DT

    Terrence Stephens

    (Quince Orchard HS)

    Gaithersburg, MD

    4 :star DE

    Jason Ankrah

    (Quince Orchard HS)

    Gaithersburg, MD

FYI Stephens is committed to Stanford and Ankrah favors Penn State.

Favoring is not committing, so I say get after Ankrah hard! Also, Stanford is Stanford, great education but football not so much. Nebraska, great football and damn good education. Big thing to watch here is that alot of rumors around about Harbaugh being next coach in Oakland(big mistake in my opinion, but Harbaugh says he LOVES Al Davis). So if Harbaugh leaves, I'd say that commitment isn't very solid.

  19. You should all sit in my section. I have this OLD F$#%^&* HAGG that was ridiculous the whole time Callahan was here. Now, when they show Bo during the tunnel walk on the Big Screen and everyone yells she does to, but during the game she'll sit there and just scream and yell at him if something isn't going right. And she's a huge bitch to begin with, you know, part of the down in front crew. She's hideous to look at and worse to listen to. I wish shooting people in the face was legal.

  20. Ok guys, I try to always post facts and here is the 'dark side' of the punt controversy; I dug deep and long to find this buried on the OWH site:

What was that? On the second play of the second quarter, senior Dan Titchener's punt hit sophomore Prince Amukamara before bouncing inside the 10-yard line. However, as the play evolved, nobody but Amukamara knew it. Baylor and Nebraska players scrambled to fall on the football, just in case. Redshirt freshman Mike Caputo did recover it, desperately hoping that he had set up the NU offense with a first and goal. But replay confirmed that Baylor got the ball on the 24-yard line, where Amukamara touched it first. http://omaha.com/index.php?u_page=3918&u_sid=10469841

So one douche on OWH says it hit our guy than it has to be true ay? Well I trust my own eyes, and I didn't see an NU player anywhere NEAR the ball!!!

And to be quite honest, the hole game is turning into a whinny little puss fest. This is football damn it! this game was made for hard asses. (well it used to be anyway!)

Rofl, Your joking right? When the ball hit the ground there was the baylor guy and then Amukamara was directly to the right. The ball hit the turf(Missing the Baylor guy mind you, there WASNT conclusive enough evidence to prove it hit him)and it bounced up and hit Amukamaras shin, the Versus replay showed that clearly, and the commentators even commented on it. They showed it like 5 times in a row in slow mo, if you or anyone missed it then they are f'ing blind. I can't f'ing beleive the ignorance and blindness of some husker fans on this play. The call was the right call. Period.

I do think I have finally figured out why people try to rile up Husker fans so much though...

What are you smoking?? The ball definitely didn't hit Amukamara and both commentators, just like everybody else watching (except for you), commented that they could see it hit the Baylor player. No Husker touched that ball until it was recovered by Nebraska. That was one of the worst displays of replay officiating I have ever witnessed (outside of the OU/Oregon debacle) and hope the Big 12 looks into some sort of punishment for those involved. Not only did they miss the fact that the ball deflected off the Baylor player, which could've not been undisputible evidence because of the poor camera angles, but then they handed the ball over to Baylor at the spot where the supposed touching occured. There was no proof, in any form, that showed a Nebraska player touched the ball at that spot, so why hand the ball to Baylor there? I've searched for the replay video but can't seem to find one, but when I do I'll be sure to post it.

And actually, I think you need to have your eyes and ears checked if you saw the ball hit a Husker and then heard the commentators say they did too, because neither of those events happened!! Good one buddy!!

Once again I rofl at the pure blindness of some Husker fans. After the commentators replayed the shot where it hit Amukamara in the shin 5 f'ing times they commented on it. Maybe I actually caught it and heard it when 98% of the stupid f'ing people were bitching and yelling at the TV because they thought it was our ball. There was ZERO conclusive evidence that it hit a Baylor guy, the ball bounced RIGHT IN FRONT, I have watched it over and f'ing over again on my DVR, watch how the f'ing ball bounces after it hits the ground. Its consistent with it hitting the turf, not another guys f'ing foot. After the ball hit the turf it bounced right, right into Amukamaras shin(Towards the sidelines) If that ball would not have hit Amukamaras leg it would have bounced out of bounds and not towards the middle of the field. Go watch it again, and again, and again until you gain some non bias perspective. Im refraining from personal attacks as hard as I can but god damn..

    The scarlet colored ignorance..

BTW, I am a Husker fan through and through, I just hate the complete and utter Bias many Husker fans have.

It ABSOLUTELY hit the Baylor guy first. If you watched the Bo Pelini show and watched it in slow motion(it was a great shot on the show) you could clearly see the ball come down and hit the Baylor players foot. The final factor is there was light between the Baylor players left leg and Amukumara's right leg when the ball was redirected and was no where near Amukumara's leg. It was rediculously obvious from this shot anyway.

  21. Not sure if anyone has talked about this before, but our O-line splits seem to be abnormally narrow, and have been since we brought this new offense in. My guess is it's associated with the WCO, but just wanted to know if anyone knows the answer. Or, is it because the O-line isn't quick enough to get on blocks or pull? Thanks for any info.

Also, I have seen a few herbie husker caps around. The front is white, and I think it's red around the back, but it has Herbie Husker(the good one, blond, coveralls) on the front of it. I have searched the internet for a few hours now and cannot find one. Any info on where I could get one of these would be appreciated. Thanks again.

  22. If any of you are curb your enthusiasm fans, a series on HBO, I have a question. I think in episode 35, The 5 wood, or episode 36, The Car Pool Lane, Larry finally finds out what the weatherman's golf tip is. I cannot remember what it was, something with the backswing and frontswing, but I can't find it anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.
