  1. Absolutely. I think it's pretty well understood that the VAST majority of fans of all teams are polite, fun and decent people. The whole of Penn State Fans are not being held accountable for the actions of a few, just like we'd hope you don't hold all Nebraska fans accountable for the actions of the inevitable asshat you'll come across. But those few who do crappy things are pretty hard to ignore.
  2. This is the point where rational, sane-minded people are looking at the allegations Paterno is facing and thinking to themselves, "If true, is this the kind of person we want as the namesake of the conference trophy?" That is a legitimate question to ask.
  3. I would be more inclined to believe this if I didn't hear stories of poor treatment by your fans to our fans when we visited Happy Valley in 2002. If they're willing to be unreasonably hostile for a non-conference game with nothing on the line, it's not unreasonable to believe that it could be worse in light of this situation. Last night would have been a great time for Penn State students to prove how responsible they can be. Unfortunately....
  4. They can't reschedule the game. We have no more open weeks before now and the Championship game. It would cause chaos with bowl alignments if either NU or PSU were to win out. The only thing they can do is call it off. Which is unlikely. I know the students seem OK now. But they haven't got much alcohol in them yet. Hope everyone over there gets home safe tonight.
  5. People have their heads in the sand BIG TIME over this. Here you go.
  6. Read the Grand Jury report. You have no idea what you're talking about when you say this is fueled by the media. This has been entirely driven by Joe Paterno's lack of action over nine-plus years of knowledge of Sandusky's actions.
  7. Badgerfan, you can be fair for the both of us. I have no fairness in my heart right now. None whatsoever, actually.
  8. Greg Doyel of CBS is reporting that they've torn down a light pole in Happy Valley. The crowd cheered.

Locking to keep the conversations as condensed as possible.
  10. Here's the scene on Pugh Street, their bar/pub area. Hope everyone drinks responsibly and gets home safely tonight.
  11. Greg Doyel of CBS: Students pouring onto campus. Sprinting. I hear police horses. 'Joe's house!' This is going to be bad.
  12. The people in that room weren't just credentialed press. Those had to be locals, fans, whatever. Those were not the questions of professional journalists.
  13. Kevin Kugler is reporting that the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to fire Paterno. Other info I'm picking up: Paterno was informed over the phone that he was fired. Riot police are on site throughout town to try and prevent escalation. The "crowd" at the Board of Trustees meeting is PISSED. Hard to say if these are journalists, students or fans. They are peppering the BoT with questions.
  14. Here's a link to the live presser. LINK EDIT - link is dead. Sorry.
  15. Riot police are standing by in Happy Valley.
  16. Tom Bradley will be the Interim Coach. Also out, Graham Spanier. Penn State Provost, Rodney Erickson has been named interim President.
  17. All over Twitter. Paterno is out. Now. Waiting for firm confirmation. But it is the only reasonable thing they can do. He has to be gone. Gone now. Erin Sorensen: It's official: "Joe Paterno is no longer the head football coach, effective immediately."
  18. We find out that a lot of our players were injured after time goes by. Most of our O Line was injured last year. Zac Lee was too injured to play. Osborne is now too hurt to play. Seems to be a pattern there.
  19. I've read the article. Doesn't change my statement - The fact that she complained at back-to-back jobs shouldn't cloud your impression of her complaint against Cain.
  20. I figured you couldn't have read much about it, based on your earlier post. It's pretty horrific stuff. I'll admit to not reading most of the Grand Jury report. I don't have the heart to read it. Horrifying.
  21. Meh. He was going to leave or ride the pine forever. His skill set isn't what Bo wants for his offense. There's no way Witt would be running the Option, or the zone read. He's about as mobile as a telephone pole, if I recall correctly.
