  1. There has been talk of Congress getting involved if there is a move to these 16-team superconferences on grounds of antitrust. But I agree that ND wouldn't be able to stay independent if the BCS conferences go to 16. And if the Pac-10 really does add the Big 12 South, then the Big 10 wouldn't be able to stop at just adding one, even if ND was that one.
  2. Just to clarify, a lot of people have suggested that Nebraska should just tell Beebe that they are committed to the Big 12, but then just leave whenever an actual better offer from the Big 10 comes along. Beebe has said that he would require a signed legal document from the schools in question that would legally bind them to the Big 12. So it's not realistic to think Nebraska could just tell Beebe they're committed with their fingers crossed behind their back. Of course, the problem with Beebe requiring Nebraska and Mizzou to sign a legally binding document promising not to leave the Big 12 is that the Huskers and Tigers would then be putting themselves in a VERY precarious spot sitting on the sidelines hoping that the Big 12 South doesn't bolt for the Pac-10. Unless, of course, the document is written in such a way that would allow NU and MU to leave if Texas left, or 2 or more schools left, or something to that effect. But I agree with those on here who have said that singling Nebraska and Mizzou out in this ultimatum is just another example of the Big 12 treating Nebraska and the rest of the North unfairly by trying to set it up to look like it was Nebraska and Mizzou that caused the demise of the Big 12. If I was TO and Perlman, I would be honored that Beebe gave me the shotgun to put down this lame horse.
  3. I'm generally a fan of Christopherson, so please don't confuse this as bashing BC. I've seen BC use the stat comparing the number of Texas players on NU's roster (25) to the number on all of the Big 10 rosters combined (47) to make the point that NU might lose some significant recruiting power in Texas if it moves to the Big 10. But I wonder if he's done a similar comparison for another state that is not in NU's or Big 10's region? Try running the numbers for California. I just ran the same comparison for CA that BC did for TX (as per rivals.com) and found that NU has 15 players from CA on their roster, compared to only 11 CA players on all of the Big 10 teams combined. My conclusion from these numbers? NU recruits nationally more than any Big 10 team (by necessity). And I don't see that changing if NU moved to the Big 10. If they make the switch, they'll still recruit TX well just like they recruit CA well in spite of the fact that they can't tell players they will get to play in their home state every year.
  4. He wants a portal to the NFL... we want guys who wanna play for Nebraska and coach Bo. Congratulations Max, hope you get your pro team while we get our National Championships. :koolaid2: Wittek was always going to SUC. He's a QB from Mater Dei. Even I can do that math. Bad news for him is he has to face Owa and the rest of the UCLA D-line for at least a couple of years. Sorry about the Owa reference. Too soon?
  5. Sean Weatherspoon and Jerry Hughes really jump out at me on that list.
  6. That sure seems to be the case and I hope you're right. Of course, there's a pretty good two word argument that taking leadership in recruiting doesn't necessarily translate into on field leadership and work ethic. Those two words? Harrison Beck. But I'll definitely give Jamal the benefit of the doubt until he gives us reason to think otherwise.
  7. Isn't it funny how Kevin's coach has a son that plays football for Nick Saban? He could've very easily influenced him to look at Alabama but instead reached out to his old childhood buddy, Bo and nudged him towards NU. Did Bama recruit KW? I didn't see an offer on his Rivals offer list. No, but my point was, the coach didn't try to push him towards Bama. He could've easily said, "hey Nick, this is Coach Marrow, my son plays for you, I have a kid up here. . . ." Gotcha.
  8. I laughed out loud when I read his Rivals quote. He said he would give the trip an 8.5 because it was cold. But then he said it was his fault for forgetting to bring his jacket, so he thought maybe he should bump his trip score up to a 9.

  10. I swear, if we lose another big time DE to UCLA, I think my heart will give out... If Grimble chooses UCLA, I think I'll need to go into hiding again for another couple of months. If he's smart, he'll get himself under the tutelage of the Pelinis.
  11. Kevin said he had an amazing time so far on his visit. It really sounds like he's going to commit soon. He said he hasn't ruled out committing before going home tomorrow, but wants to sleep on it to see if he has the same feeling about everything in the morning. He said he was heading out the door to hang out with Jamal Turner, so I expect Turner to put the hard press on him tonight. He said there haven't been any negatives about his trip, whereas his other trips all had at least one negative to them. I would say he's all but N. Welcome back stranger. Haven't seen you around the boards lately. How's life? Thanks, Nexus. Between dissertation writing and the recent birth of our first child, I've been pretty busy. Just building up good will with the wife so I can be a presence here in the fall.

  13. I'm not looking forward to all of the lame newspaper headlines that play with his last name (e.g., "Much to Admire About Nebraska's New Recruit," "Opposing Coaches Admire Husker O-Lineman," etc., etc., etc.). Please resist the temptation, Sipple.
  14. Yes, he's planning on visiting for our spring game. He said NU is one of his favorites right now because of Suh. Said he watched NU every time they were on TV because he wanted to watch Suh, who is one of his favorite players. Said he tries to play with the same relentless drive on every single play that Suh displays. Sounds like he initiated contact with NU's coaches and wanted to schedule a visit. He currently holds 22 offers, including pretty much all of the Florida schools and ND, TN, WI, NU, etc.
  15. I'd love to have a "giant tool" who is holding offers from Florida, Miami, Florida St., Notre Dame, etc. etc. etc.
  16. So I take it you guys wouldn't be in favor of Bo and Wats offering a scholarship to this QB?
  17. Not according to Green. In his recent interview with Rivals, Green said that he wouldn't consider Texas any less if Brown committed to TU. He said Texas told him they want Brown and Green to be like White and Bush were for USC, with Green being the Reggie Bush type player. He sounds extremely high on the Horns. It sounds like Texas is the only school he knows for sure will be in his top three. They're going to be very tough to beat. I'm not getting my hopes up at all for landing Green.
  18. I can't believe this thread is still alive. Okay, I'll kill it by finally admitting to all you UNL grads that UNL has better academics, sports, weather and women than UCLA. And downtown Lincoln is better than Hollywood, Brentwood, Bel Air and Santa Monica. Neuheisel must pay his recruits handsomely to get them to attend that bottom tier school in such a hell hole.
  19. True. He botched the Carnes situation (at least according to the Manatee High coach), but at least he didn't pull an Urban Meyer and wait to announce one of your coordinators is leaving the day after signing day.
  20. You mean "except for Brion Carnes and Ace Sanders."
  21. He mentioned going to Texas's JD a few weeks ago here Texas has 2 JD's, the 13th and the 27th. He's on their list here but hasn't designated which date. Since the 13th is this weekend I'm guessing he would have already designated by now, so he'll probably go there the 27th instead of us. He was also just recently at Baylors JD. Ah, I didn't realize UT's JD conflicted with ours. Thanks! At least Green will attend our spring game. BTW, your first link didn't make sense. Did you mean to link to this?
  22. Aaron Green isn't schedule to attend? I know he's planning on going to the spring game, but I haven't been able to find anything about him visiting for junior day. That would seem like a no-brainer, but maybe there's a schedule conflict.
  23. Grant Wistrom would probably head that list... Off the top of my head, Grant Wistrom (as carlfense mentioned), Mike Rucker, Steve Warren, Dan Alexander and current Huskers like McNeill, Compton, Brandon Kinnie and Keith Williams.
