  1. What I think is funny is that after we hired Dannen away, Washington hired Pat Chun from Washington State. Chun had previously got the AD job at Wazzu after we hired Moos away from them. So Chun effectively ended up in both of his last two jobs because of us. Chun was also the AD at FAU when Carl Pelini was there.

Thus far, the group is struggling to gain traction with the schools that would play in their proposed “Super League.” The ACC board of directors heard a presentation from the group in February. However, planned dinners with administrators from the Big Ten, SEC and Big 12 all were called off. Spokespersons for the Big Ten and SEC said commissioners Petitti and Greg Sankey, respectively, have not met with Perna’s group.

Leagues have been hesitant and canceled meetings so as not to upset their current broadcast partners, including ESPN and Fox, according to one executive briefed on the commissioners’ thoughts.

Nebraska Women's Volleyball is always the team to beat to get to the National Championship.

Although if John Cook ends up taking the AD job...

Not necessarily.  At Nebraska, it was his responsibility to see it handled correctly.  But he's not the one who directly did anything wrong, just didn't handle the aftermath correctly.  People get second chances for that all the time.

And regardless of anything he did or did not do, his resume looks a lot better without a 'got fired from previous AD job' on it...

I woke this morning after watching a Friday to remember in Nebraska Athletics. My very first thought as I opened my eyes was "Can we, Husker Nation, finally just move on from the best last Era of Husker Greatness and into a NEW era of Husker Greatness"? The old regime/guard is out finally. Trev was the last of the old guard.

Interim Athletic Director Dennis Leblanc has been at Nebraska since 1983. And TBH, even with his history, I don't think Trev really even gave a s#!t about 'the old guard' in the first place. Remember that he was one of those who supported Solich's firing back in the day...

  5. There's rumors floating around that he felt like the way the regents were handling the sexual assault lawsuit left him open to being fired. To be honest, that feels like the most plausible explanation to me - bailing out while he could, before a potential career-ending firing. It'll be interesting to see if Amy Williams ends up getting fired...

Donor fatigue: Some college football fans wonder why they have to pay for players

That is an emerging complaint from fans and one more factor that could create big changes in college sports, including revenue sharing in which schools directly pay their athletes, rather than asking fans to foot the bill through collectives.

There’s a term for it in the NIL industry: donor fatigue. Fans who are already asked to donate a lot for season tickets, not to mention the facilities arms race, are now being asked to essentially pay the players, while the schools are prohibited from doing so directly by NCAA rules.

  7. Following up on that, the same 247 writer predicts that Nebraska will go 9-3 this year:

    Nebraska Huskers

    Pre-spring final record projection: 9-3

Conference finish: 6-3 (three-way tie for third)

Why: There is a path to nine wins (or more) for Nebraska this season if the Huskers are able to establish early momentum with a favorable slate by Big Ten standards and get a boost of confidence under five-star freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola, should he be Matt Rhule's selection to start. The Huskers could be favored in their first seven games prior to a road trip to Ohio State. They only play one opponent ranked inside the preseason top 20. Rhule and his coaching staff need to do everything they can to take advantage of this schedule as a potential dark horse in the conference.
