  1. I"ve been long time best Tiger fan and that"S fact. I rember when we beat Navy in Orange Bowl when Joe Beliny was top drawer Hiseman winner. Just to say I"m not fan since last year. This TuffTiger has seen lot"S bad Tiger football. Okay for histroy lesson.

Here"s what i can call good Tiger football program to be proud. Since you"re GBR is many timeS" NAtional Champ some times this can sound like not to good to you and that can be find. If I can one time see Tiger"S as champoin"S can you tell how I would fell? Oh,boy.

    Okay and back to list:

1 no bad blow up losses. I remeber some bad one"S like 77-0 toTEX AM. Plus also some to crap poundings by GBr and OU.

    2 Play hard

    3 Play CLean

4 win at least 7 games.

5 Every 4 or 5 years be TAR.

6 No stupid act players"S. That can be tough since kid"s get full of them and act up.

7 No damn cheating by caoches or AD"s.

Plaus also some one said about GBR to be rival of MU. Could be alreay you know? You have top drawer fanS" to fill you"re house ever game and MU is get back to that. It can take work to get back all fan"S after 20 hard yearS". I will be at Bufflo game early in SAT to have a good tailgate and beer"s. Some beer"s now also.

    :moreinteresting

And then this can be to GBR back on pikle; :nanalama best simple"S on internets. FACT.,

This is quite simply the most entertaining thing I have read in a long while. Thanks TAR!!! Oh and GBR!!!

  2. So now we are going to wax poetic about every recruit's religion? I just don't think this is fair to the young man. He has a bright future ahead wherever he decides to play and we are sitting here debating the merits of his religion and determining whether or not it is a Cult. Why not look at how good of a player and student he is, that would seem to be the more relevant topics here. His religion choice is his business and frankly it shouldn't matter what you or I think about it.

  3. This is the easiest way to listen to the games on your iPhone.

    1. Purchase the "Tuner" app from the app store (it is not free, but I highly recommend it)

    2. Install it to the iPhone

    3. Once installed go to the Genres section and select "College Radio"

    4. In the college radio section you can select KRNU which is the UNL student radio station.

    5. Voila, you now have the Husker games on your phone.

    **NOTE**

You will not get the same feed that you would from huskers.com it will be the KRNU announcers and not Greg Sharpe and Adrian Fiala........sorry

Does anyone know how to do this on a Blackberry?

  4. I am not really sure how Pinkel made it as long as he did with the Missouri fans. Now that they have won, I have to wonder how long he would last if he had two bad years in a row again. I don't think they would be that patient...as we wouldn't.

You bring up an interesting point. I have seen a change in the attitudes of MU fans since they have started winning. You can sense the venom against other teams in their message boards. While I think the users on this site do the same to a certain extent, I think it is being taken farther by MU fans. If Pinkel can't recreate this success in the Post-Daniels era, I don't know how patient they will be again. Certainly if the guy who writes in Husker H8ter blog is any indication, I don't think he would last 2 "mediocre" 7-8 win seasons.

  5. I was brought up in a born again Christian home and we viewed the Mormons as a cult.

:wtf That's pretty ignorant. Just because one faith isn't the same as the other doesn't make them a cult. I'm Lutheran and don't believe many things that catholics believe, yet I wasn't raised to think that every catholic is a cult member.

Anyway, let the kid keep his religion between himself and the coaches. It's none of our business.

    -Back to Topic

Even if he takes his mission, he would be a great land.

I didn't say I still believed it, just what we were taught. If he is as religious as some think than I am sure he is pretty secure in his beliefs regardless of what others think.

Asking for MOD removal is a little over the top. Go back thru some of the longer posts, lots of non-recruiting talk.

The idea that we have anything to do with the recruiting process seems a little grand to me.

If you don't think these recruits aren't reading the message boards of the prospective fan bases, then I think you are fooling yourself. I remember specifically reading an article about the DT Quentin Toaila from CA who Bo brought in last year. In that article, Quentin was quoted as saying how he checked out the NU message boards and the positive feedback was a big part in him feeling comfortable with NU.

  6. I think as long as TO is the AD, he will be patient with how Pelini progresses as a HC.

What happens after TO steps down in 2010 as he has already said he will? He will step down in June, just before Bo Pelini's 3rd year. That is the start of make or break time and if the fan base gets impatient, will the new AD have the gumption to stick with him as MU did with Pinkel?

  7. Saw this rundown of Pinkel's record at MU thus far and I gained a new appreciation of just how tough it was for the AD to stick with Pinkel throughout. I always knew they struggled, but the up and down portion in the middle around 2003 and 2004, it looks similar to NU with Callahan. Will TO or his successor be this patient with Bo? The pressure from our fan base is can get to much higher levels than I am sure it ever was at MU.

Year Overall Pct. Big 12 (Place) Pct.

  8. Mods please delete the last few posts. They have nothing to do with recruiting unless it is a deliberate attempt to harm recruiting cause that is the only thing the discussion accomplishes.

    +1

The conversation has nothing to do with football.

I agree, this is very detrimental and frankly unnecessary in this forum

  9. So if he just moved over to the O-line and is "one of the fastest rising O-line stars in the West," are we going after him as an OT or a DT? The entire write up in ESPN was as a DT, if we are going for him as an OT what is his potential there?

  10. As I am watching the beat down UL is putting on KSU, a weird feeling came over me. I realized I am conflicted in what to root for, the continuation of the beat down or a massive comeback. Do I want the Big XII to win and gain stature on the SEC, or do I want one of the most irritating teams to lose? To expand this further, CU has a marquee game tomorrow night. I put them in the same category of most irritating teams. Do I want them to win or lose. I am looking for some board feedback to help me make up my mind.

  11. As I am not local anymore and therefore cannot watch any of these first 3 games, I am not sure if he has played on Special Teams or not. You are right, stats don't indicate he has. I would hope so, because that is why they burned the shirt. However he has had almost zero chance to play a regular snap due to the offenses they have played against. VT runs more of a balanced offense so Wortman, and hence maybe Sean, will play a lot. MU, TT, KU, BU not so much. Teams like ISU and CU should also be a lot of 4-3 defense so maybe he will get in a bit for those.

  12. I don't see anything worse than 4-2 out of this, and 5-1 seems like a good possibility now. They have had a game against a team that runs almost the exact same offense as TT, that has to count for something. On top of that TT hasn't looked like world beaters this year, they have a lot of holes in their game right now. If they beat VT, then Missouri had better look out. A Husker team full of steam and confidence at home can beat anyone. Especially with all of the bulletin board material Bo can use, such as the highschool comment by Chase Daniel last year. It all starts with 2 weeks of practice as good as they had last week and then coming out and playing a complete game against VT.

  13. Okay, yes, NMSU was a creampuff. But in say, 1997, when were the blackshirts given out? 1995? 1994? It was actually before any games (right?). I don't think of handing out blackshirts as a reward for a good game.

I don't know, I think I'm just feeling it this week...the atmosphere seems ripe for blackshirts to be unveiled and for this team to buckle down and get things started. They're ready to take on the season; how they do will be up to them.

I think you can only send the "you're not ready yet" message so many times. The season is upon us, for real, no more tune-ups, no more scrimmages, no more wait and see. Time for the training wheels to come off.

It is just my opinion though, to be fair; in the end, the only one that matters is Bo's.

:yeah These were original handed out when the 2 deep was named for the season, BEFORE ANY GAMES WERE PLAYED.

  14. Better no question, but no blackshirts yet. Beat someone with a pulse before we start thinking the corner is turned.

If they can handle VaTech in two weeks I will be for it.

But in honesty, I saw nothing tonight to change my mind on their ability. We did less than what we should have as far as scoring is concerned. This was the easist team on the schedule, can not judge the season by this game.

I like the effort, but what level of athletes were they competing with. Watch SC play, those guys are blackshirts. Nothing to get excited about here at this time. Two weeks we will know if we have a black shirt on the team. Not until.

so giving up a Touchdown that was caused by our offense fumbling a snap and ensuing recovery return to our 3 yard line is too much scoring for you? If it weren't for that the D pitched a shut out. I like how we are all of the sudden judging who is worthy of a blackshirt. Under TO, you got them when you made the starting 11 on D. Bo has withheld them to help instill the pride in that symbol again, he will decide if the starting 11 on D is ready or not.

  15. USC 28 - OSU 3

Mrs Ohio Pete is pissed. :clap

Sounds like I ain't getting any tonight. <_<

Just remind her that because they finish the season 3 weeks before everyone else they will still back into the championship game as long as they make a run through the Big 11.

LOL that better not happen again.

Anyways, guys sounded good tonight, didn't get to watch it though :( Just wondering since I didn't get to watch it, how were our DB's playing?

DB's were fundamentally sound all night long. 2 INT's and multiple pass defenses. they also took away the short underneath routes that are so hard to defense. Very good effort, Hagg played outstanding

  16. Yes, and they aren't things that are given freely and taken away on a week-by-week basis. Then it really loses its meaning. At some point these guys are going to earn it. But they're going to get gashed this year too.

Thats why if they play their asses off against Va Tech, then, give it to them.

I think the blackshirts can be a powerful motivator. Give 'em out before the Tech game (if they show focus and dedication through the week) and these guys may be pumped up to live up to it on the field. Now, what if they don't put the wood to Tech? Then we're staring at getting run all over by Missouri and Texas Tech.

Thats exactly why you give the Blackshirts out before Mizzou. This will inspire confidence in them.

Then the season's half over, and what's Bo going to do, hand them out after pasting a patsy like Iowa State or Baylor? Fine, and then what happens if/when they get run over by Kansas?

No, Bo won't wait that long.

I think we've reached a point in this season where the guys have just about earned it. You can't hold off the blackshirts for too long before it becomes a distraction to the players. Give it to them on the last practice before Tech as a way of saying, "Good. Now you guys are ready for the season to start."

We're just not there yet. They put up a very good performance tonight, but wasn't this a team we were supposed to beat? In two weeks, they show up, and knock Va Tech on their ass, then you give it to them.

Anyways, in future years (and past), wouldn't blackshirts be given out at the beginning of the season, rather than wait until they have a good showing against a non-creampuff team?

So, you want to give them out now, after we've beaten a "cream puff" team? Not too mention, this isn't a "standard" year for Nebraska football. We're coming off an embarrassing season, and order has to be restored.

Blackshirts are just "given out", they are earned...

There was a time when you earned your blackshirt when you made the starting 11 on D. They didn't take them away after losing to Miami 31-0 in the Orange Bowl, god that one hurt, or any other low point in team history until 2003. This whole notion of giving them out if they earned them Bo started in his first stint in '03. It is a starting D team mentality, they are now playing as a team and playing with determination. They should have their blackshirts, Bo made a point to instill in them what it means to get them. Point made, time to heal the team for good.

  17. Looking at VT's offensive numbers today...they weren't that impressive...then GT didn't do much better. That must have been a defensive battle, or VT has a lot of problems on offense and we will take advantage of it.

Give the blackshirts out...not a lot of them...but a few, lets go into that game flying high.

I think Bo will hand them out to the entire defense not just individuals. He needs to instill the team mentality, if there is one person undeserving of the Blackshirt then the entire defensive squad is undeserving. Live and die as one.

NO!!! That was BC's mistake #1. You don't just give them out. They have to be individually earned. Otherwise we have a defensive unit that will forget what it takes to earn a blackshirt, and they will start quitting when things go bad. You have to give 110% all the time your on the field, or you don't deserve one.

As a team is how TO and Co did it.
