  1. I think Ganz is a mediocre player that can perform in the system adequately, but Zac Lee is for real. He threw for almost 3,500 yards with a 31/5 td-int ratio in a very good Juco league. The kid has a great frame and runs the 40 in 4.6, and since he's been getting healthier, I wouldn't be surprised if he's sharpened it up to a 4.5. He's only been developing.

I remember reading more than once in articles that Shawn W. and the BC era coaches said that P. Witt was the most talented/impressive of the group

  2. Listening to Mack Brown now and he did acknowledge that his recruiting class is one of his best character classes.

I like Mack and that's exactly what they needed down there. I wouldn't want 5 star criminal athletes on my team either if I was the coach. Character first, academics second, athletic ability third!

I hope you weren't one of the many calling for Frank Solich's head then 5 years ago.

No, I wasn't. Doesn't mean that I still want him here right now though. <_<

I would tend to agree with you there

  4. one player i wish we would have gotten is Barry Sander... although i think it was more about us turning him down...i guess we were looking at a player on his team and his coach(sander's coach) said we should really check out this kid(sander)...i guess our coach wasn't interested or they told him we didn't have a spott for him or something like that...i think sander would have sign with us if we had shown any interest in him

I assume you are talking about Barry Sanders, with an "s" on the end. Yeah, that would have been a nice steal! I heard even the Jayhawks passed on him.

About the article posted: Why would Callahan quit recruiting an entire high school after one kid changes his mind? It said that this year alone they have five, yes five, DI recruits. That doesn't make any sense to label all the kids from that high school because of one athlete.

    Simple....BC is a complete moron!!!!!!

One thing I won't say bad about BC was his recruiting ability! Anyone who denies the talent that he brought to Nebraska is truly the "moron"!

Anybody that beleives what Rivals or Scouts say's is the "moron"

While I am not a fan of BC, I agree that his ability to recruit was incredible. He did it at Wisconsin, teams that won a few Rose Bowls, and he did it here. The only proof you will need is to see what they do the next 2 years under a really good coach who knows how to teach and develop.

  5. :yeah 6'3" with 4.4 speed and soft hands ??? how is this guy only a 2 star ??

    :dunno

Supposedly played in Offense-Defense All-American Bowl as a member of Team East

Anyone know if this happened? Perhaps he didn't do any of the camps over the summer and didn't do much his Junior year so most teams missed him. Also Desales offense was mostly based around the run. I think they put up 400 yards rushing against Cinci Lasalle. So probably not too many chances to catch the ball in that offense.

All the website for the Bowl has is that Kenny's East Squad won 12-8 in a rainy defensive battle in the Orangel Bowl in Miami. No specific player stats are listed as of yet. Here is the Bowl Game link: http://www.all-americanbowl.com/blog/end-and-looking-ahead/

  6. First off, Bo has stated he doesn't want to rely on JUCO guys so Ohio Pete your theory is off.

Second of all a school has to be under 86 scholarships, it doesn't matter the size of the recuirting class, Bo could give some of the walk-ons from last year a scholly instead of a new recuirt.

And at last they Redsteel they do pay for kids for officials but they might just be wanted as a walk-on they don't have to have a scholly.

Actually MadcatNU and Pimpzilla were dead on. 85 allowed in total, no more than 25 per year. See the quoted text below from the NCAA official site.

    http://www2.ncaa.org/portal/academics_and_..._penalties.html

    "Football Bowl Subdivision Football

In Football Bowl Subdivision football, teams may provide scholarships to not more than 85 student-athletes, with up to 25 scholarships awarded to incoming student-athletes (e.g., freshmen, transfers, first-time aid recipients). For Football Bowl Subdivision teams subject to immediate scholarship penalties, the first three penalized scholarships will be charged against both the initial-counter and overall team-counter limits, with remaining penalties (if applicable) countable against the overall team maximum."

  7. Replaced Hoch with Grant sounds good to me.

Kileen HS is probably alot bigger school than Harlan Community HS, and the compitition is probably alot better also

anyone in Iowa help me out here?

Yeah, the competition out in Harlan isn't going to be on the same level that the Texas HS are, but then again where is?!

I grew up in the HS conference that Harlan plays in and lived in Killeen, TX for 3 years as well. Harlan has been an IA football powerhouse contending for a State Title literaly every year. Killeen however is bigger at about 80,000+ residents and is a military base town, meaning a lot of imported talent. It is just north of Austin so I am sure that the schools they play are much bigger that Harlan.
