    So many good messages here.

I really love his pre-game/half time speeches. He is an awesome motivator and culture builder. It is hard to not get excited about where this all seems to be heading. I am sure there will be bumps in the road, but it is clearly the first time in I can’t remember when, that this program finally seems to be building a spine.

Which position coach are you getting rid of?

To me this is just another version of “we need a dedicated special teams coach!” argument. The only way to achieve this would be to combine two other assistants together since you can only have a HC + 10 assistants. Below are the assistant coach positions on staff currently, doesn’t look like there are a lot of options to me. If you combine TE with WR or OL people will complain, if you get rid of ST in lieu of QB people will complain, etc.

    HC

    OC/QB

    WR

    OL

    TE

    RB

    ST

    DC

    DL

    LB

    DB

Bingo.  It ain't changing.  Remember all the guru sessions all summer that changed T Martinez's throwing and then the bullets start flying in the fall and it was the same motion he always had.

Funny, I remember T-Magic coming back a significantly improved passer after working with Calhoun and in that 2012 season immediately after working with Calhoun he became B1G OPOY….

    So. - 56%, 2089, 13 TDs, 8 INTs, 126.5 QBR

    Jr. - 62%, 2871, 23 TDs, 12 INTs, 141.6 QBR

  4. I really like how Rhule is working on this team’s mentality. It is clear and purposeful. He used the bad taste in the mouth from the Michigan loss very effectively. This Saturday will tell us a lot about whether this team is truly getting tougher or not, but at least there are positive signs of growth.

1-4 Stanford? The same one who lost to Sacramento state? Stanford has been horrible.

you perhaps are thinking of 10 years ago.

Still compare their scheme, QB and OL to NU. Forget records because you are comparing apples and oranges. The Blackshirts are 25th in total D where as Stanford is 124th in total D. Stanford is 83rd in total O and NU is 103rd. Stanford threw it 45 times for 394 yards in this game after falling behind 29 to 0, that NEVER happened in the NU-CU game because it was a 1 score game until mid/late 4th quarter. Not to mention that CU committed 17 penalties in the game vs Stanford. Basically Stanford went air raid for the 2nd half because they were down 29-0 at halftime and had no choice.

11 more days until we beat Wiscy.

Peen State this weekend should be a good one also. They are undefeated in conference play as well and in a 3-way tie with NU and UW. Peen State is playing pretty darn well right now, but they have to come into the Devaney Center this weekend.

2020 recruiting class should be the last class with a “free COVID year”. That means it will still be a possibility for guys to use a 6th year for the 2025 season. I think most coaches will start to push guys along, as Rhule is doing.

To me these guys should be considered RJr. as that is really what they are right now. They would be RSr. next year and then can use the COVID year in 2025. I don’t see Rhule running off productive RSr.’s like Hutmacher.

21 errors were the issue the first 2 sets.

That was a big part, but they were off. At one point in the 2nd set the broadcast threw up a stat showing IU with 6 blocks and NU with zero blocks, and actually outblocked NU 11-2 overall. That simply isn’t Husker Volleyball. IU was outplaying NU defensively in the first 2 sets, seemed like they got to everything and NU wasn’t. IU hit .351 in the first set. Whatever IU scouted allowed them to get the jump on NU. Great job by the Husker women to to rebound and dominate the 2nd half of the match. Guessing Coach Cook has an awful lot of tape to use to help this young team continue to improve. Oh and Harper Murray is a budding super star, but she can’t continue to have 7 service errors (41% of her serves overall for the match). Serving was a big area for improvement out of the IU match.

  9. First set of conference road tests for this very young team and it showed early on in both matches. Got a couple of lucky overturns tonight via instant replay that I felt could have gone either way in the 2 set, but they took control in the 3rd and 4th sets. IU is much better than in the past for sure, good pair of wins this weekend.

Agree. He’s a prime example of what a change in Staff and system can do for a player.

That and the fact that a large number of linemen take until their Jr or RJr year to come into their own. All of the talk about how he should have been an OG was misplaced, 2 different coaching staffs in a row saw him as a DT/NT so I will trust them over the message board crowd.

In offense, #6 (Smoke) was mostly a one man show ..... I hope proper tackling skills in game #4

Panthers .... only 4 yards passing for the entire game :o.  Total yards: LT 450, FIU 182

    Final score, 22 to 17

Only 22 points to show for 450 yards of offense. Wonder if their issues were turn overs or inability to score TD’s in the red zone?
