  1. Good for him. He will do...................... What is he good at again?
  2. Agreed, these players don't even know what a BLACKSHIRT means let alone got to wear them last year. Even in the glory days only the elite players received one, just because someone started didn't mean they automatically got a Blackshirt.
  3. I would have to disagree. He could beat weaker teams, but anyone we played that was decent would stomp us. I heard a good definition of Callllahan's offense awhile back, " It takes 4 years to learn Callahan's offense and 1 week to scheme it." Isn't that about true.
  4. Yeah, I think most of what Callllahan did was "counter-productive." Good word.
  5. Um... Peters brothers come to mind! Damn wouldn't that be sweet if we could have that kind of push on the interior D-line again. Thats how I see Baker as a player.
  6. With the the way the defense played last year, who do you think will lose their starting jobs and who do you think will step up and show they belong? Who will come out of nowhere and play?
  7. I think most of the players are going to be evaluated and the coaches will look to move some people around and see where they can make an imidiate impact. The defense needs rebuilt and some of the "Athlete" players may be looked at there to improve overall defensive speed and competition for starting spots.
  8. Great post skersfan. I think we have enough talent to win some games, I'm going to say maybe 8. These players are going to really want to silence the critics and I believe Bo will use this. Teams that play with a chip on their shoulder are very dangerous and often over achieve. We are only 1 season removed from playing in the Big 12 championship game, I don't think that we are as far away as some may think.
  9. Definately on D. He has the potential to make the impact that Octavious McFarland or Terell Farley had with blitzing. He is a physical player and we need that on defense again.
  10. T-Bone, if you have no interest then don't post. Some of us are talking football here.
  11. Agreed. Hopefully what we saw at the end of last year is just a taste for this season except with more power running. Like the old saying,"Throw because you want to, not because you have to."
  12. Im not trying to live in the past but we still have the same OC so I think the discussion has justice. I agree with the point about the redzone percentage, we did have to actually get to the redzone and more times than not we didn't. I believe that stats can be deceiving when our offense only made an impact against lower competition with the exception of Kansas and during garbage time when the game was decided. It just baffled me how we could run the ball in bigger games and take ourself out of it with too much passing.
  13. Ok. This is just my opinion and feel free to chime in. I don't believe that Watson ever had full control over calling plays, even when Callahan said he did. It just seemed to me the every time it was stated that Watson would be calling the plays, that we moved the ball mostly at will untill we got inside the redzone and then it was the same old three & out like Bill said, OK I'll take it from here. I have never seen any team have so many third & short situations or second & short situations and throw the damn ball! Lucky averaged over 5yds a carry last season. WTF! You have a hammer like Castille and can't get 1 or 2 yds. We need to do a better job of establishing the line of scrimmage this year. There is not a single team that can win championships at this level without having a respectable running game. Period. I understand that we need to be able to throw the ball. But, when you are running all over a team (ex. Ok. State and Kanas in 06') Why stop? The best defense is a strong offense, and running the ball effectively controls the clock and keeps the other offense off the field. Sry, anyway, it just looked to me like Bill would take over the play calling and our offense would stall. It wasn't until the end of last year when Callahan was, "Concentrating on the defense", that we finally saw some hint of what we could do on O.
  14. I agree. Solich had put a staff in place to fix what was wrong. Look how much better we played in only the first year with the new coaches he brought in. Im not saying Solich was a better coach than Osborne, but he was making the right changes to compete with the best.
  15. I wish the other teams in the North luck next year, but this going to be a totally different Husker team. One with a chip on its shoulder and something to prove!
  16. I agree with the "All" comment. But if he stayed healthy, Octavian would've been fun to watch under Pelini. Maybe he can get a medical redshirt?
  17. Yep, and everyone said we didn't have talent then too. NU would've given Dorsey and Leiniert the beat down that Costa and Warffle got. No doubt.
  18. Exactly. Things seem like they are getting back to the way of Nebraska! FINALLY!
  19. Thanks. Always wanted to get involved. Just got tired of hearing all the negative feelings towards the players. And to this day, I still dont believe that Billy C let anyone call the plays but himself. Maybe a few times but not very often.
  20. As far as the talent gap goes, we are not light years behind anybody. Period. Bo said himself that the speed comes from the execution of the scheme. Whereas we had no scheme pretty much with Coz, there was no speed to be shown. And with all the talk about Pelini's first year as D coordinator and getting blown out by 3 teams, you have to remember that Bo was coming from the NFL and was still getting accustomed back to the college game. I dont believe that if he was still here that he would've had that happen again. This shows by him playing and defeating most of the teams he coached while at LSU the last three years. We have the talent to win on both sides of the ball, and now we finally have a coach that will show that. I agree with the post about these kids being ready to prove themselves, and that is a very dangerous thing to other teams in college football.
