I don't think anyone has been making it out to be the strength of the team.

And I'm not trying to pump sunshine either.

But we also (still) have four receivers who have caught a combined 364 passes in Division 1.  I would venture to wager that there aren't too many years of Husker football where that claim could be made going into the season.

This is a very solid observation

You are quite possibly right. But shooting down any questions about him/his departure RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE makes me a little more suspicious. If I were a JOURNALIST, I would not let that line stop me from asking more questions. With all due respect to all the WRs still on the team, what could lead a guy who successfully took 21 credit hours (12 is being a Full Time Student) in order to get back on the team and HAD to figure big in the team's offensive plans suddenly feel that his "heart wasn't in it"?

I want to also say that the guy who asked the question did it with VERY BAD form:
People seem to have already forgotten that Garrett's FIRST words in answer to the question were "Ummm, not.. not really" (before launching into the "with all due respect...").
So what was he answering "not really" to?

Here was the full question: "Did Zavier's situation take you by surprise & what was your reaction... did you see it coming?"
If the answer to "Did Zavier's situation take you by surprise?" is "not really" then we want to know why it didn't take you by surprise.

If the answer to "did you see it coming?" Is "not really" then the follow up question should be: You mean to tell me that a position coach can't tell by performance or demeanor that a player's heart just isn't into it? Did you notice a drop off in his practice performance or demeanor in RECENT days?

Do you see what I'm saying? Everyone got so taken by the quality of the misdirection that you immediately stopped your brains and said "YEAH! Let's be fair to the guys who are still here and talk about THEM". Great. I can see fans getting misdirected. Mission Accomplished. If it stops Real Journalists from asking further questions? Then Mission SUPER Accomplished.

Ultimately it doesn’t make much difference whether the throws were perfect or not. The result is all that matters.    Tommie F was the best QB probably, ever, not because he was the biggest, strongest, fastest, best pinpoint passer or any other measure.  It’s mostly about leading his team to championships vs any and all opponents.  The results are the most important factor.

QBs are one of eleven that all need to do their respective jobs well. Leaders lead.  Lots of QBs throw the ball well enough to win most games. It’s the rest of their game that typically decides how good a player they are.  Imo.

Tommie had the best thing any QB could ask for…a supporting cast full of All-Americans and NFL draft picks

Anyone who was a fan of the Chiefs or any franchise that suffered through the Patriot Way bulls#!t knows this quote doesn't mean much

The most successful football coach in NFL history has an opinion on NU’s new football coach NFL tenure and it doesn’t mean much because you’re a Chiefs fan?

    Ok, then. Makes total sense.

    I wish.

Every 8 years, difficult to dispose of discarded turf.  Special landfill (expensive).  According to EPA, fake turf contains toxic chemicals, known to cause cancer.

Joined elite schools like OU, Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, USC, Vols, LSU, TCU, etc., etc., etc. .... all natural grass. Plus Big10, Penn State, Michigan St, NW and Purdue.  And tOSU? ..... schedule '24-'25 off-season, install from Field Turf surface to natural grass. NFL stadiums, majority of real grass surface like Arrowhead, Mile High, Lambeau Field, Soldiers and some more. Same thing as MLB.

I miss nice odor, softer, cooler, less injuries, ......

Lambeau Field is not all grass. It is a mixture of grass and artificial.

Do you think schools in Nebraska’s bordering states want NU to get better? No, they don’t. They want NU to keep sucking so they can come in and recruits the Nebraska high school players for their own schools. I sure as heck am not rooting for any of those schools on Saturdays.

Rooting for your conference rivals are what losing teams do to “prop up” themselves because their own team sucks so bad.

It’s what good teams do, so that losses look like “good losses” and they can still get into the playoffs.

So a 12-team playoff this year would be:

    #1 - Georgia vs winner of #9 Kansas State @ #8 Tennessee

    #2 - Michigan vs winner of @10 USC @ #7 Alabama

#3 - Clemson vs winner of #11 Penn State @ #6 Ohio State

    #4 - Utah vs winner of #12 Tulane @ #5 TCU

I’m not sure as I haven’t read about it but I think they should re-seed after first round so #1 still gets to play lowest remaining seed.

I’m sure you’re a man of your word and when Rhule is named HC you won’t post here anymore as promised. This brilliant prediction will have to stand as one of our last memories of you.

I’m hoping mods decide he needs to be held to his word.
