I think it might be as it appears on the surface. We valued Eric Martin more than Shawn Bodtmann and we needed to free up a scholarship to get Martin. It sucks that the scholarship was pulled a week before signing day but, the coaches have to decide what is best for the program and in this case a little bad press was worth getting a player you liked better. There may be some validity to the phone calls and the weight loss but it really does appear that we kept him in the class as a backup plan in case we couldn't get Martin. Once we got Martin to commit we didn't need a backup plan.

I voted other so I could write in Mark Gilman, just for personal reasons not because he was the best. He did catch a TD in the 94 NC game and he was from Kalispell, MT which is where I lived after I graduated from high school.

I voted for Kris, I thought he should have won the Groza his senior year but they gave it to someone else, Gramatica I think, instead.

Good to see Potter, Murtha, Slauson, Glenn and Lucky get invites.
You can bet the coaches did some campaigning for Glenn (see LB Monte Johnson in '75).
Why, though, does Cullen Harper get an invite and Ganz doesn't?
I don't think they play the Sr. Bowl anymore. I went to the site over the weekend, and they hadn't updated past 2008.
They will be playing the senior bowl on January 24 in Mobile. Rosters aren't final yet but some players (Quan Cosby I know of) have accepted invites.

I respectfully disagree with a lot of that list but the top five are hard to argue with.

Committed to Arizona State according to scout

Jamel Williams. I used to control him on every down when I played NCAA 97 on my Sega. He was a stud.

I think it depends if any of them get invited to the Senior Bowl. Draftability seems to be based on 90% workouts and the combine and 10% how you played during the season.

We don't need an intrastate rival. The lack of one is what enables us to keep our reputation of having very classy fans.

It's often said the most popular player on a football team is the backup quarterback. Well, for now Clemson's backup quarterback, Willy Korn, is my favorite Clemson player. Unless he comes in and beats us with his team.

This would suggest he might not even play. Maybe you could make Spiller or Davis your favorite player now, and if they go down maybe a LB or WR next.

Wortman was in my town at Cornhusker Boys State. Played Basketball against Andrew Shanle.
-
He's no longer listed as a Husker commit on rivals either. I think our coaches were smart with this decision, if they were the ones that pulled the plug.

I'm sorry it was predictable. But figured if someone was going to bring it up I would.

Why isn't black an option?

Pretty sure that any/all major & successful programs have their share of injuries, incidents and thugs. My question is why so many people put Nebraska on an island of college football that they don't think can exist anywhere else in the country.
Texas loses starting lineman for racist comments posted online
Oklahoma loses starting QB for selling cars
Florida State has players suspended for taking shoes/clothes
So to answer your question...yes, it happens everywhere.
What?
You didn't hear about Bomar last year? He and another projected starter were collecting big paychecks from a local car dealer for working minimal hours.
It happens everywhere. It really, truly does. It doesn't sound like you are too in touch with what's going on at other schools.
To the same point the other player removed from the Sooners with Bomar for that situation, JD Quinn, has gotten two DUI's since he enrolled at the University of Montana two years ago. And other Montana Grizzlies have been arrested for breaking and entering, kidnapping, and a situation where three football players beat the crap out of a freshman on campus. So it happens to small schools in small communities too.

I totally see where you're coming from, the same point is made when discussing this with my friends.
Then I counter with, win your conference and all will be well...back and forth, back and forth. Then we reach the conclusion that there are just TOO MANY low quality teams in Div I and that a restructuring is needed.
I guess we'll find out if you get both your wishes(playoff and restructuring) by 2012 when the current reclassification moratorium is over. I doubt that a playoff is implanted before then.

Fact. Matt Turman. Undefeated as a starter I believe.

Wisconsin just sued Washburn U here over the 'bods use of the "W"
Washburn was already $150k in to defense costs when they agreed to cease and desist using it. Wisky's is red and Washburns was blue and NOT identical.
Washburn just didn't have the deep pockets to defend.
I don't know, but the W that Washburn used in 2002 looks pretty much identical to Wisconsin's only in blue. I'm not sure the rules but i think that Delaware and Princeton had to pay Michigan to use the same design on their helmet.
Why aren't they beating down the door??

With the exception of the Clemson game it seems that whenever our defense is on National tv they look average at best. Until we play better when we get on ESPN or ABC kids won't know that our defense is playing better under Bo.
