  1. Deserve it or not I still think we get there. I have never been a fan of Arena, but for some reason I think he's got some method to his madness. I wouldn't shock me if we beat Panama by four goals.

  2. In all honesty, it's no real surprise to me that a prosperity gospel church like Lakewood would not be proactive in a situation like this. Unfortunately, too many churches have a hard time seeing even beyond their own doors to what could be a very tangible way to show the love of Christ. It's not just Lakewood that drops the ball with this sort of situation, but hopefully now that they are helping, they'll go above and beyond to be the blessing that they claim God wants for the people of Houston.

  3. It sucks that John Brooks will probably miss the rest of the hex. Omar looked ok at times in the Gold Cup but he's a right sided CB same as Cameron. They could both start, it'd just be a bit lop sided. Hedges looked real shaky at the Gold Cup. Can Ream or Besler be trusted? Any opinions as to the US's best option for the upcoming qualifiers?

The turnover on downs for Illinois in the third quarter, where the Illini went for it on fourth down because the down marker said third, is far worse officiating than the last drive. Having a play not count because the refs didn't stop play fast enough for a review is not uncommon, and if Illinois had completed a long pass on that non play, they would be calling foul when it didn't count.

I know this sounds weird, but that actually helped them out. A lot. Before that play Illinois was dead in the water. Their players were just mailing in it--the game was already lost. After the call that gave us the ball (which was the correct call, btw) the Illinois sideline erupted. They got totally fired up, and the players on the field responded. On our 1st down Tommy almost got sacked. Incomplete. The NU 2nd down ended up in a two yard loss. On 3rd down their guys were jumping around totally fired up and our O-line false started. On 3rd and 17 Tommy threw a pick.

That weird call with the wrong down marker showing totally fired Illinois up.

I agree it helped them, and I agree it was the correct call. All I'm saying is that it's worse officiating. The more I think about it, should they have replayed fourth down and let Illinois punt? Maybe not, it's as much the responsibility of the coaches to keep track of game situations as it is the chain gang, but can you imagine if Cubit had punted when if said third down when he knew it was actually fourth? People would lose their minds. The down marker needs to get that right.

You never know, but for some reason it doesn't seem he was high priority for this staff... With Stolt, Davis Twins at DT I guess it probably shouldn't be though.

Are you saying this staff is not interested in picking up a DT this year? DT is a position where you should get about 2 every year.

We are extremely deep at DT. Whether we "missed" out on this one or not, it's not a huge worry.

    SR: Williams, Price

    JR: Collins(maybe leaving) Valentine, Maurice

    SO:

    RFR: Stoltenberg, Newell

    FR: Davis, Davis

I'd be more worried about getting a couple good ones in the 2017 cycle.

I saw what happens when we have a bunch of young bodies at DE that we all hope are studs, but don't pan out. I'll take two DTs this cycle please.

You saw what? I don't remember having a bunch of promising DE's that didn't pan out...

I was never excited about King, etc.

I'm very excited about the Davis Twins.

I can't wait for them to take over for Todd Peat and Aaron Curry.
  7. I'll believe any hype about this offensive line when I see it.

Yes, I believe Cavanaugh is a huge upgrade in coaching, but I don' t care anymore. Tired of hearing about how good this group is supposed to be and then being let down. The standard has dropped big time for what we consider "good" in our offensive lines, that's become obvious through conversations with others. I'm not even talking about 90's Huskers pipeline good, that's not the standard. I'm talking about every guy making their block on a play. I'm talking about finishing blocks. I can look through game after game, play after play and it is very difficult to find even one play where every guy on the offensive line did their job and did it well.

Taylor Martinez struggled, and was even injured when an offensive linemen was shoved straight backward onto his foot. Tommy has caught hell same as Taylor, and his offensive line has not been any better or even worse. Ameer Abdullah would be a two time 2000 + yard rusher and a Heisman trophy winner if his offensive line executed on a consistent basis.

Don't care what you think about it or if you disagree. I've watched the games and I can make .GIF after .GIF demonstrating my point. It's time Nebraska gets these offensive line struggles fixed. Ridiculous that it's been such a problem for so long.
