It sort of makes sense but when does the grade actually start to reflect what happens on the field?  As somebody else mentioned Nebraska was 30th nationally in rushing yards but PFF has them ranked 113th in offensive line rushing?  Are they saying that the scheme and running back were amazing?

I assume it is similar to the example I gave earlier. Say we have an zone read to the right the goes for 15 yards. If Jaimes, Hixon, and Cam all get beat they aren't going to get a good grade, while Wilson and Farniok will probably have a positive grade since you assume they helped the runner gain the 15 yards. Therefore, three of our five linemen will have a negative grade on a play that gained 15 yards.

Again, I'm not advocating that PFF is perfect by any means. I do think they bring a perspective that is unlike anything else out there.

Yes, I think there were only three O linemen in 2018 and that's with Jurgens coming in as a TE.  So, you have Jurgens, Farniok and Canty (did he even make it to campus?).

The 2019 class will be the real O line class that sets the tone for the next few years.

    He did not

These rankings don't seem to reflect reality. Nebraska only allowed 5 more sacks all season and gave up fewer sack yardage.

Against similar opponents (Purdue, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois) Nebraska out rushed Iowa in every game in total yards and only had fewer yards per carry against Minnesota.

I assume that during the grading if a OT gets beat and the DE gets a rush on the QB who avoids the sack, that won't show up as a sack, but it will show up as a bad grade for that play by said lineman. So there is more to their evals than simply yards. I hope that made sense. If Cam has high snaps he is going to get dinged. I assume penalties are factored in? False starts, holding etc...

So if Troy Walters ever leaves for another spot. I say we go get Mickey Joseph from LSU. He is their current receivers coach- Nebraska Alumni. Dude can obviously coach and recruit.

I'd drive the brinks truck from WV to his house tomorrow if that would do the trick

  5. 93. NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS

    Highest-graded player: OT Brenden Jaimes – 72.5 (84th)

Nebraska's offensive line did a good job of limiting the number of times their quarterback was put on the ground, as they combined to allow the 27th-fewest sacks and hits. They ranked 60th in pass-blocking grade as a unit but were undone by the fact that they ranked 113th in the run game.

Turner being here in the spring is huge but that’s gonna be tough to beat out guys already here for a year let alone 3 or 4. I for one hope Piper starts at G.

    LT: Jaimes

    LG: Piper

    C: Jurgens

    RG: Farniok

    RT: Benhart

thats probably the biggest line we’ve had in quite a while. Wonder about Farniok’s ability to pull and get out in space. That’s what I love about Piper..Quick for a big man.

Farniok has shown the ability to pull pretty well. When they pull the tackle for QB draw he has done fine. It’s the speed on the edge that really hurts him.

I agree with you about Piper. Hoping he can be a difference maker. I just don’t see it with Hixson. Seems like a great kid, but he isn’t athletic enough.
