  1. l know yall aren't LSU fans, but i think you guys will like this video (its LSU clips from the CWS set to Boom). Sure it will bring back some memories since its in yalls back yard. hxxp://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2R0AMU0LUNR4J3JEGLFZT3CF1E copy and paste addy, and change the xx's to tt's so the link stays alive here for anyone who wants to watch it. Do you guys have any videos of Nebraska football set to "floor you" style music ?
  2. What year in law school? I just graduated in May from Gonzaga. Good luck the rest of the way!! Two more exams till the end of my 3rd semester, its a ton of work but i love it. l go to a new law school that was opened in my home state (South Carolina) called Charleston School of Law.
  3. l think there is alot of respect between LSU and NU (due to yall kicking our asses in bowl games, and us living in Omaha in the 90's). Gonna love seeing yall in the Top 10 again soon. Hopefully Les Miles can keep us up there, but i have my doubts about his coaching ability.
  4. i dunno about hanging out with Tulame fans , but i hope the LSU fans fed you, liqoured you up, and yall had a great time.
  5. No, i live in Charleston, SC attending Law School. Although Katrina was terrible, it kinda swept alot of the trash outa Nawlins. The Big Easy will be back sooner rather then later. Probably with an extremely decreased crime rate. Some of the great restaurants from NO are trying to relocate to Baton Rouge, but BR is a college town and lacks the ambience that is New Orleans. l'll also be looking forward to attempting another visit to Rosenblatt, but we are a very young team this year so we may have to put that on hold for another season.
  6. Yea !! reminds me of a story i was told in New Orleans awhile back (with regard to Nebraska). l was talking to an old timer about the situation yall are in and he said this... "The last time LSU played Nebraska, after the game, i met some nice Huskers and told them, ill admit yall are great, if we never have to play again" l have alot of respect for what yall have had to endure over the past few year (see LSU under Curley Hallman ), but it will be well worth it in a few season when you guys are running the Big 12 again.
  7. lts very doubtful that with a USC loss, that we will make the big game. Penn State and what JoePa has done with so many freshmen will get the nod. Looks like if we beat Georgia today in the SECCG we go to the Sugar against West Virgina, which seems like a slap in the face, but ill take the bowl money and exposure, even though no one gets respect for beating a Big East team. l would like to see Nebraska vs. Florida in te lndependence bowl, but Michigan/Nebraska would alway be great. lm not so much interested in seeing the West Coast offense at Nebraska, but i do wanna see a return of the Blackshirts.
  8. Needs to hurry up and get some great players playing well in Huskerland, so the rest of us can watch a decent Big 12 championship. l think Callahan has yall headed in the right direction, but im just tired of watching Colorado back into the game. Good luck in whatever Bowl you guys get, i'll be rooting for you guys. Geaux Huskers - Restore the Order Geaux Tigers
  9. ln reality, i would say Nebraska vs. Florida in the lndependence Bowl. l think this is likely and would be a great game.
  10. So hes coached there b4? I think he was refering to landing some good quality recruits on short notice (Ryan Perriloux, Brandon Lafell, Ricky Jean-Francios, etc.) and hiring a great staff (bringing Porter and Monken from OSU, hiring Jimbo Fischer back again, getting Pelini as DC, K. Dunbar left the Bears DL staff to coach the same at LSU, and last getting Brad Peveto from MTSU to be our special teams coach). See that has to stop in college baseball. They have to make it as level a playing field as possible. The Huskers can't start until later on. A lot of these southern teams will have a dozen or so games before the northern teams see the field. Also because of this the southern teams don't have to play mid week games. They need to start the season a month later. Eric, Texas has played 5 games so far, Stanford and Cal. St. Full. has played 7 games, LSU has played 3 to after this weekend... thats 3 conferences that have started earlier than everyone else, plus there is a tournament being held at aTm. Don't know why Nebraska doesn't start as early as others.
  11. Not that you guys are dieing to know, but #2 LSU/Nichols St. game bottom of the 8th, LSU up 19-2 batting around in the 1st and 7th, pulling most starters after 4th. Offense looks primed to make a run while our pitching giving up 4 hits in 2 nights, and defense looking to have alot of depth. Add: 14 players including all starters have scored. 11 have driven in runs. Add: LSU scored 31 runs in 17 innings, while only giving up 3.
  12. Yea, all of our players play in a Fall league, didn't know that this was just a southern thing though.
  13. How much of a slip do you see? Our schedule is very friendly this season: 09/03/05 - North Texas - Baton Rouge, La. - Good first game test, against a decent team. 09/10/05 - Arizona State - Baton Rouge, La. - They lost alot of talent this year, but could still put an L on us if we come out flat. 09/24/05 - Tennessee - Baton Rouge, La. - Toughest game of the season, and we have them at home. 10/01/05 - Mississippi State - Starkville, Miss. - Croom is doing good things but will still have trouble with us. 10/08/05 - Vanderbilt - Nashville, Tenn. - its Vandy. 10/15/05 - Florida - Baton Rouge, La. - Does Urban have growing pains? Also at Home with this game. 10/22/05 - Auburn - Baton Rouge, La. - Lost their million dollar backfield, QB and LBs. Also at Home. 11/05/05 - Baton Rouge, La. - will be a cupcake like UAB or Southern Miss. 11/12/05 - Alabama - Tuscaloosa, Ala. - We own the Tide in Tusca, but is our toughest road game, will be close if Croyle is healthy. 11/19/05 - Ole Miss - Oxford, Miss. - its Ole Miss. 11/26/05 - Arkansas - Baton Rouge, La.- They lost Matt Jones, start a freshman QB, should be a big time W. I see at Most 3 losses, but we could very well go undefeated... but I will reserve my prediction for after our N. Texas game.
  14. As far as baseball schedule goes, LSU opened its season this week, but there are some California teams ie Cal St. Full., Stanford, USC who started their season last week. The midwest starts later because of the temperature differences (I think). I would love to see a national opening day, but it is kind of like basketball, where better teams play in tournaments and end up with 5 to 6 more total games then anyone else.
  15. Outsiders guess: 09/03 Maine - W - Callahan takes them to the woodshed, new players work out some kinks. 09/10 Wake Forest - W - WF has a young team, as does Neb., its close but Neb. pulls it out at home. 09/17 Pittsburgh - L - Pitt coming off a BCS embarrasment, comes ready to play, wins by a TD in another close game. 10/01 Iowa State - W - Neb exposes the pretenders. 10/08 Texas Tech - W - I will keep this one a W, but if you secondary hasn't improved from last year... may be a different outcome. 10/15 @ Baylor - W - No aTm like slip for Neb... Big Red Rolls... 10/22 @ Missouri - W - Missou will get blown out as your offense start clicking on all cylinders. 10/29 Oklahoma - L - Keep this as an L, but OU will be replacing alot of skill positions, their saving grace is AD but if you guys can neutralize him like USC did... may be a shocker to nation. 11/05 @ Kansas - W - Jayhawks have a football team? Neb rolls. 11/12 Kansas State - W - Close game, decided by a fg 11/25 @ Colorado - L - Buffs come out ready to play... Neb. has hiccups on defense... but I could be wrong. Big XII Championship (Texas) - L - Vince comes out and has a great year, possible title contenders if Mack can get the monkey off his back. Bowl Game (Cotton) (Florida) - W - Urban still having growing pains...
  16. I believe that a playoff system, while a great idea, is a pipe dream. The only thing we can hope for is a plus one system. This would be great for CFB because it would line up the 'media' top 4 teams and allow them to have a mini playoff of sorts. It would give us, as college football fans, the opportunity to see one more game. Would give the two conferences that participated, extra money from a second bowl game. Add in sponsorships, advertising... I think it would become Superbowlish, and wouldn't string out the players too long (as is the argument of all of the schools, not wanting to extend the season). On another tenet, I believe that we should also reduce the amount of cupcake bowls, by setting a rule that a team must acheive at minimum 8 wins in a season (for a bcs conference team) to become bowl eligible (7 for mids).
  18. Thanks for your opinions guys. I think that Les, although not the most stellar of hires, is a solid coach with solid recruiting talent. I think he is surrounding himself with great assts. and we should not see any drop off in our defense, and our offense should get a much needed boost. Hopefully in the next couple of years we will stay on top and see you guys rise from the ashes of rebuilding your football program from a dynasty to another dynasty. There is enough room at the top for both of us. On another note, LSU baseball had a great night against Nichols St. (in state school) only gave up one run (unearned) and had 2 - 3 run HR, a 2 run HR, and a HR (4 total)(12 runs on 10 hits). Our offense is looking great and our defense is looking stable (sat 2 starters tonight). Pitching will be lights out this year. How is Nebraska's baseball team looking this season? Potential for CWS? Geaux Tigers Geaux Huskers P.S. How many years does Callahan get to implement his system, and do you think that the "West Coast" Offense will work, as opposed to a run oriented, play action type Offense ie mobile QB, stud RB and short to mid yardage passing attack (that I thought Neb. should have shifted to)?
  19. Thanks Eric, I have always loved the Huskers... and you guys have handed it to us on many occasions. I remember an older gentlemen and I were talking about Nebraska a year or so ago. I asked him "Why doesn't LSU set up and home and away with the Huskers, would be tons of fun and our fans already respect each other". He said "After the last ass cuttin' the Husker handed us, I told one of their fans, that I'll agree you guys are great, if you agree never to play us again". I like what Callahan is doing at Nebraska, but don't understand how your defense plummeted so much last year. Zone... that is what I was afraid off. Saban usually played a very aggressive man cover, which burned us a couple of times, but our DBs got better and we usually put teams on lockdown. See LSU v OU '03. The zone just seems a little to soft cover for me. I am not really worried about our Offense, because I think Les and Jimbo will open up the playbook a little more (Saban played very close to his belt). I just hope our hybrid "Black/Bandits" (Chinese Bandit Defense '58, and maybe a tad of "Blackshirt line play" will be as dominant as it has been for the past couple years. As far as baseball goes, I have never had the opportunity to come to Rosenblatt for the CWS, but I graduate law school in 2 years and after that I will make the 'pilgrimage to Mecca". How is your team stacking up this year? We are preseason #2/3/5 (like always) but are actually stacked at pitcher with a starting rotation of 3 leftys (we brought in some JUCO talent this year). We also bring back some good bats with C. Harris, R. Patterson, and Liuzza all back. Should be a great season, and hope to see you guys in the CWS. Geaux Huskers Geaux Tigers
  20. First off, congrats on a great recruiting class. I was glad to see you guys take Lucky from the West Coast, I think he will be a stud. Now for the topic: LSU after losing Nick Saban and Will Muschamp (DC) to the Miami Dolphins, have now hired Les Miles (OSU) and Bo Pelini (NEB/OU). Do you guys see these as "settle for" hires or as quality guys that will get the job done with our talent next year. I know Pelini had a great Pass and Scoring D at Neb in '01, but looked very suspect at OU this year (he was in charge of secondary). I know Husker fans are known for their statistical knowledge of Big XII and I respect you guys winning history. What is your opinion of the state of our coaching staff for next season.
  21. As an LSU fan, I would have to say... none of Nebraska and LSU games.... but if you want good games... LSU v Georgia '03, LSU v Auburn '01, LSU v Tennessee '01, LSU v Fla '97... I don't really remember alot of Nebraska games that I have seen... ususally you guys obliterated the other team.... but maybe you can reference for me so I can watch a couple.
  22. Someone told me the '72 USC and '74 Sooners were contenders, but I just don't see it.
  23. Pelini did "interview" for the job, but probably wasn't given a serious look. He said he was ready to become a head coach, yet took an co-coordinator job at OU. Once Callahan was hired, there were only a few coaches retained. Barney Cotton was the offensive coordinator last year. He moved to Iowa St. and had a pretty decent year. They beat us anyway He was brought in by Solich, but apparently it was too little too late. Some people say he never got the chance to really roll out his offense with the QB that played last year. Recruiting appears to be going pretty well. We have the #1 recruiting class right now, based on rivals.com rankings which shows the coaches are having some success getting the players that they want. Afterall, that's what's important in recruiting. Not necessarily all the rankings and what not. It's most likely going to take a few years for this class to shine, as with any recruiting class. We could very well have some freshmen that have an impact early, but we'll see. A little off the subject, but how to Husker fans like Trev Alberts, last year I actually started dislikeing Nebraska because of him, but then decided that I couldn't judge Nebraska by just one of their former players. The guys from my forum, tell me I'm crazy for claiming the the '95 Huskers are the best team ever in college football, but they were badass. Do you feel that they are the best team ever at Neb ? Why is this board dead? Bad football scare away fairweathers, or what ?
  24. At times we got burned on both running and passing, but passing more often. We were decent covering the run between the tackles. Most games the defense played with no fire whatsoever. There are no asst. coach changes but Turner Gill, the last of the "old guard" coaches, resigned last week to persue a head coaching job somewhere. He was the receivers coach. How long will Callahan get? Well, his contract is 6 years in length and buying it out half way through would probably cost a pretty penny. When he hits year 5 I would expect his position to be re-evaluated. But with Steve Pederson at the helm as AD, who knows. A lot of people, including me, didn't really expect Solich to be fired when he was. I didn't necessarily disagree with it, but I didn't honestly expect it. Did the university, once decideing that Solich would be let go, not even think about asking Pellini to step up as HC and bring in new a new OC in order to spark a new offensive game plan. Just seems to me that, the transition would have been alot less painfull that way. I can understand Neb. not wanting to run the option and "get up to date" with the rest of football. But at the same time, if you look at most of the teams in the hunt for the past couple years, they relied on strong defenses and great running games to get there, not the finesse pass that Nebraska thought was necessary to bring Nebraska back to the top. How is recruiting going this year?
  25. So Cosgrove went away from the zone blitzing, and was basically relying on his front four to bring constant pressure, while over-covering the pass all season? Did you guys get burned more on the ground or in the air? Are there going to be any asst. coaching changes? How long do you think the Callahan will get to improve?
