  1. i was more upset about that one DPI in particular, but both were bad. We got called on that one that was perfectly legal. Faceguarding but no contact. Almost exactly the same thing happened to Paul and there was no flag. Oh well, can you imagine the heat Mack Brown would be under right now if they had not had that second?

That is a 15 yarder in college. No contact necessary.

  2. tell me how the officials screwed us. we got a huge call by texas getting pinned at the one yard line when the return man never had possession when he was on the ground

He touched the ball with his knee on the ground... guess what: That is called DOWNING THE FOOTBALL

I'm pretty sure you're incorrect, actually positive. Even after replays the announcers said "Sorry Texas, the play is not reviewable."

It was even clear in live action, I was surprised the ref blew it dead. They usually let it play out so they can go back and review.

  3. Nothing I like better than listening to someone for an hour saying the same thing over and over and over, then a commercial, and then over and over and...... Hell! It's worse than being with my wife!!!

Exactly! I have him on in my truck, I'll get out to work somewhere for an hour, get back in and its like a time warp. I've seriously thought they accidentally started the program over. He does come up with some witty ideas but then repeats them like five times.

    Thank you.

We all love to love or love to hate.

All we need is love, da-da-da-da-da!

  4. Cowturd is one of the worst bandwagoners out there and likes to pretend he runs with the big dogs.

And he openly admits he is a bandwagoner. He believes it is more entertaining to watch quality matchups than it is to watch scrubs scrimmage. And he is right.

If Nebraska is not playing today (hypothetical) would you rather watch Florida vs Alabama or Southwest Kentucky State vs Northern Idaho?

Cowherd is straight to the point and honest. About the show in his underwear, I don't know if he did it; but he did lose a bet to his minimum wage producer and actually got a tattoo because he lost in a 40yd dash race to a kid half his age.

    I like him!

  5. I have seen Three in person. The BIG XII Championship game in 1996 was my introduction to a drunken mob of Texas fans yelling every obscenity, taunting, and running their mouths and starting fights even in victory. The BIG XII Championship game in 1999 wasn't any different. The 1998 Game in Lincoln they were outnumbered so they were fairly quiet.

You say what you want. I've seen it with my own two eyes. I have NEVER seen Nebraska fans that way. EVER. Win or lose.

I've seen many Husker fans act that way. In fact, every game I've been to I've seen stupid people in red. The fact is each of us represents "1" out of "80,000+". You and me may be gracious and cordial, what about the other 79,998?

Local bars are even worse when there is no fans from the other team present.

Nebraska is not above anyone. Actually, our self proclamation of the "classiest fans" puts us into an upper tier of arrogance. Gracious people are everywhere, so are stupid people.

What we can do as "1" is choose to embrace the gracious and ignore the stupid. Maybe, just maybe, without the attention they are craving, the "stupid" will just go away.

  6. What a load of crap!!!!!!

How many Texas games have you seen? 1 or 2 or even that many.

Texas fans are great fans, I have been to Austin numerous times, been to the Rose Bowl when they beat SC, the Holiday Bowl several times. Nothing but great fans, supporting their team win or lose. Are the confident, hell yes as they should be. You win 10 games every year for awhile you have the right to expect your team to win. So many forget the comments when we were the top dog, and the likely hood of us losing was beyond the realm of possiblity.

We need to get off our high horse, there are great football fans at every single program in the country. This crap that we are better than others is really getting old.

    AMEN!!

  7. Why not just have it in New York City while we are discussing arbitrary locations that make no sense?

Makes about as much sense as DFW..er Arlen

I'd vote Hawaii...Imagine the bennefit to recruiting. :)

Never had any interest in visiting NY, but this would make it more worthwhile.

I guess I'd just rather see it bennefit actual college towns than NFL cities..Even if it means going to Austin (and 6th street) or even Ames.

Arlen would be fun! Hangin' with Hank Hill and the gang. Although they are Horns fans, it could be a good tailgate; they like to drink beer at least. And Hank does make the game winning call for Nebraska to beat Texas in the Championship Game (great episode)

  8.

While the Big 12 North champion, a division that is 1-4 overall in the BCS and hasn’t won a BCS Bowl since 1999, just has to go 5-3 or 6-2 in a mediocre conference to get the opportunity to go to the BCS.

Not that I'm proud of it, but Kansas won the Orange Bowl in '07 did they not?

    exactly what I was thinking.

  9. Well, I was actually just wondering what other coaches on this staff were recommended. Everyone but Pap/Ek/Beck/CP? Not all of the recommendations were bad, I am assuming. I've been in Watson's corner the whole way. Actually kind of wish we still had Lee starting. It'll take some time to come around to Green, I guess.

Also, who were the recruits Barney ran off? Hoch/Givens, or non-OL recruits?

As I said, not going down this road again because of what happened last time.

Search my posts back to about last year. I discussed it a bit before people went nuts that I even suggested it.

I thought Coach Pelini and Cotton were on Solich's staff together and that was the reason Cotton got the call. How does that not make him "Bo's guy"?

    You are correct.

Cotton is definately Bo's guy. Anyone not retained from the previous staff is Bo's guys.

He is incorrect as are you. Barney was recommended to Bo and was not someone Bo originally asked to be put on his staff.

Bo makes hiring/firing decisions with assistants. That is FACT. Cotton may or may not have been recommended by Christ himself, but Bo hired him!!! That makes is absolute fact the Cotton is Bo's guy.

TO runs the athletic dept. not the football team!!

  10. I thought Coach Pelini and Cotton were on Solich's staff together and that was the reason Cotton got the call. How does that not make him "Bo's guy"?

    You are correct.

Cotton is definately Bo's guy. Anyone not retained from the previous staff is Bo's guys.

  11. Im just curious why some people believe Watson should be retained at the end of the season.

    Now....I dont want answers such as...Watson isn't the problem....We don't have the players...the players drop passes....the line does't block...etc.

I want you to tell me what Watson brings to the table and what he can do to help the offense and makes you think he is so good, not what other people aren't doing to help the offense.

Let's get back to the original question listed above. I've heard nothing but crickets, and it is a good question.

Well, I will give you some reasons why he shouldn't stay.

    1. He ALWAYS abandons what is working. Anyone remember the Cotton Bowl a couple of years ago. We ram the ball down Auburns throats and score two TD's. Then guess what, the same ol same ol, we go back to what doesn't work the rest of the game and lose 17-14. Shoot, we see it every game!!!

Watson wasn't the play caller in that game!

    2. The offense doesn't show any fire or desire. That comes from the coaching, period. Case in point, Bo took a horrible D two years ago and turned it around and showed dramatic improvement last year. Now look at it this year, ranked in the top ten in scoring defense. We still have several players left over from two years ago (on D) and look at what a little good coaching has done. There seems to be a huge difference here between the O and the D.

That also comes from assistants on the sideline. WR, OL, RB coaches need to fire up the group, not the OC.

    3. As a manager, I can attest to the fact that good leadership starts at the top! If Watson has total control of the offense, (maybe Bo shouldn't have given him) then he takes the blame for everything under him. That includes the position coaches (Cotton) and how the players are being prepared.

Good point, responsible for bad play (OP said not to use that as excuse)

    4. Hasn't shown any desire to conform his offense to the abilities of his players. A good coach will adapt to the players he has. Yes, we have had several injuries, so play to the strengths of who you have left.

An OC should expect people to catch and not fumble. He has replaced players that seem to have that problem. Football players should be able to play football, if not, that is why there is backups.

    5. This "take what the defence gives you" mentality has to go. Nebraska used to impose their will on the defences. Look at other schools who are on top, Florida, USC, Cinci, Bama ect. They impose their will on the defence and dare you to stop them. Also, amazingly enough, they play to the strenghts of their players!

Have you ever watched Cincinnati? They are anything but a smashmouth football team. USC is the only superior offense in that group, and guess what, they run an offense similar to ours with better talent.

    6. As someone else mentioned before, we are never going to get the "5 star" receivers that the southern schools get. Tom understood that and built an offense around the caliber of talent he would be able to recruit.

There is talent in our receiving corp.

    7. I will concede that he and the other coaches on offense see the players everyday in practice. Yet, they seem to be stuborn and have their heads in the sand. I don't care how well things appear to work in practice, it isn't working in the games. I would love to know how many times this offense actually go's against the starting defence in practice. If they really do, that should be telling to the coaches, I can't imagine they move the ball that well. Maybe not often, the coaches probably don't want to destroy the psyche of the offensive players  .

This would be on Bo. He designs practices.

    8. The argument that they had to scale down the offense for Green doesn't hold water. I don't know about all of you, but I was still seeing most of the same stupid plays with Green that we saw with Lee. I think Watson is the only one who knows all of his 300+ plays. During actual games we only see less the 20 and that is being generous. When other defensive coaches are breaking down game film of us, they must be salivating!!!

Those 320 plays include checks, pattern changes, same plays different formation etc. If you can't handle that, you should have quit playing in High School. We had 150 plays in h.s. at least. We had 10 formations and anywhere from 10-20 plays in each.

NU is second in the North behind psuedo leader KSU. It may not be the National Championship year some of us came to expect, but the Big XII is NU's to lose.

  13. I remember when Nebraska and Oklahoma faced each other the day after Thanksgiving, it would rain oranges. Now, both teams are trying to become bowl eligible? What do we toss onto the field when Nebraska scores? Plastic Bowls?

If Nebraska wins the rest of their games, we could go 9-3, and I'm not sure if that's enough to win the Big XII North or not. 9-3 or 8-4 are still doable at this point. Keep the faith. We could still land in a good if not great bowl game.

9-3 would definately win the North. I would put money on it, but if I did, something outrageous would happen like KSU winning out. <_<

  14. The one fact we can take from these stories is there is bad people everywhere. I have never been to another college venue outside of Lincoln, however, I would love to.

I've been to at least one Husker game every year for the last 13 and the one thing I can guarantee is that someone in Red will embarrass me.

I've seen fights on O Street, I've seen people harrass a 12 year old for wearing black and gold, I've seen a Mob harrass a family with 5 and 7 year olds and yell "get the F*&k off our statue!" outside our stadium.

My point is, there is douche bags everywhere!! I you go in looking for them, trust me they are easy to find. If you go in looking for good fans and a good experience, they are even easier to find.

  15. John is a......well he would be one of the annoying people to watch a game with.

He tried to call Tom Becker (1110am, political talk on the same time as USC) and Tom hung up on him, and blasted his intern for not properly scanning calls. It was great to hear a talk show host have some pride in intelligent calls. To me, John never comes across as intelligent.

    QFT...thank you.

What is QFT? I hope we're friends :wasted
