why does everyone act like we can fill every need with the portal? other than toure what portal players helped us this year?
We can fill every need with the portal for the upcoming year. We could have a great recruiting class and Frost could still get fired bc we don’t win this year.

This would be a great thread for some cheese fries. Or maybe discuss school lunches like cinnamon rolls and chili

This is how we get back to winning the West!
The team that won the West offered him.

I noticed the #1 receiver for Alabama plays on special teams. They put their best players in positions to make plays on EVERY play.
They almost lost the Iron Bowl bc he got ejected for targetting while covering a punt. Need to have the WR working tackling drills to avoid that costly penalty.

His stats for the year are 71 carries for 1231 yards and 28 TDs, seven two-point conversations, seven catches for 163 yards and three TDs, five punt return TDs, 11 kick returns for 403 yards and six TDs, 23 tackles, seven TFLs, three interceptions, seven PBU, and one fumble returned for a TD.
Malcolm was the best player on the field ever game he had. He is undersized but was so productive last year. If he really runs a 4.47 then great pickup.
Crazy stats. Seems like a good pick up.
I would say Number 4 from Raleigh HS is a better player. He stood out in Malcolm's highlight tapes.

Name a national household name positional coach. Just one.
That is a tough one. I would say Larry Johnson DL Coach.

But the Alabama kid actually believed it. When the bullets are flying, he had confidence in the approach, training and coaching staff.
Easy to say in his situation.

I'm not sure we quite understand the texas move at this point. they lose all their power, the money can not be more than in the big12 or even as an independent.
its still a big "????"
Probably tired of losing in state kids to A and M bc kids want to go play in the sec. Big enough brand for SEC to double up state of Texas.

He's a way better version of Tanner Farmer...he will be a great DL for us because he is already the strongest on the team probably and has great leverage from being a wrestler.I agree. Also don’t think farmer would start on our line now. Might slide into that last guard spot but probably not.

I still wish Nash went to the OL as he would for sure start at OG this season. He can still be a great DL for us, but I felt we could have used him more on offense.
Not sure i see Nash pulling or climbing to second level defenders. I do see him being tough to move and penetrating double teams. Not to say he might not be good at OG, but think he could be a great interior DL for us.

Big frame, good feet. Does a good job of fitting up on the second level. Big boy trying to skip pull and keep his hips squared up. If this kid didn’t need the weight room we wouldn’t get him. We are young and experienced up front with 4 of the 5 spots. Get a kid that needs to get stronger and can develop.

It will be interesting to see how this effects the amount of money schools receive from boosters. Why give to the school when you can give directly to the athletes and get advertisement from your contributions.

Unless Frost has a sudden realization that his offense will not work in the Big, and goes back to what made NU dominate for 42 years, he will continue to struggle with wins. "Run the damned ball has some meaning." (And, not just the QB).
His offense will work in the B1G. Adjusting the personnel and tweaking the system is better than an identity change. Big year coming up. Hope it is a good sign for the WR room that captain and starter Kade Warner probably doesn’t see much fame time this year. The WR and RBs were deficient last year for any offense.

Tuimoloau and Sawyer should make for a formable dline in a year or two.
If they were that good they would have went to bama.

IU is the main foe here.
If he goes there he will have to learn how to fake being injured. Our DBs get ejected for trying to injure people. Easy choice here.

And we have lost to them under this staffs tenure every year basically. We haven’t developed crap.
Yep. Been close and outplayed all 3 of them at times. What has not developed?? The whole team? Every position is bad and not developed??
DBs, DL, LBs much improved
OL, TE, OLBs improving
WRs. Not great, but KW Left a size able hole in the roster. Talent there just young.
RBs- not improved. Head scratcher really.
QBs - TBD. Have been great when they have playmakers. Been avg to bad without. Big year for them.

If you think this class is getting what you need to compete for a title…pass the crack
This class looks no different than a lot of Iowa, wiscy, and NW classes. They have been pretty competitive lately

I know. Chiefs should have never drafted Mahomes. Didn’t win enough at Tech.

6-6 center?? Must be an athlete with a frame. Haven’t got a chance to watch film on him yet, but that is not your typical C height. I will trust staff and DL, DB, and OL evals so far. Others spots have been some hit and miss or TBD

It is definitely guaranteed to change. I'm just hoping it isn't 0-13 after this year.
Not necessarily guaranteed. Wisconsin ducked us last year. Maybe we don’t play either this year

Seeing a kid release a top 17 will always make me chuckle.
At least it doesn’t say that his recruitment is 100% still open still.

I voted no, for 3 main reasons:
1. Martinez has not proven that he can stay healthy, and if he goes down again, we don't have a legit backup.
2. I'm still not sold on Chinander, and I think there will be some defensive disappointments.
3. We've played sloppy, undisciplined, uninspired football for the past several years and I've seen nothing to make me think that's going to change.
1. Cheap ankle gab hurt him fresh year, the fact we had Less talent around him and had to run him factored in too.
2. Chins has improved every year statistically and with the eye ball test. Players like him and he is multiple and gives other teams problems in game planning.
3. Yep. Fix that and we will be good. Don’t turn the ball over and be better in special teams and we can beee at t everyone on our roster save tosu and ou.
