I get the thought,  but it seems to be half way there.

Quick check off some of the best nfl players in the Superbowl:

    Tyreek Hill 5'10

    Shaq barrett 6'2

    David 6'1

    Honey badger 5'7

    Devin white 6'0

    Antonio brown 5'10

    Scotty miller 5'9

    Both tb safties under 5'10

Im stopping here just not list them all,  but it seems a large chunk of rosters for the super bowl dont fit the prototypical height/weight. I know this is kindof cherry picking but those are a lot of the best players starting tomorrow.

All those dudes under 6’4 are probably the 4.4s that you look for.

white and David are athletic freaks

barrett has a great get off but he isn’t a JPP who fits the Bill of what every coach in America is looking for.

Ive never quite understood the obsession with size lately.

    A baller is a baller.

Length allows Duvall to put size on the guys and not lose athletic ability.  When you recruit you want 6’4s or 4.4s.  Bama scan get both

At the wr position it allows us to match up better with the physical B1G cornerbacks on the perimeter.

  3. Going local flavor.

Class is hard to pick bc for a group not ranked real high I can see a lot of upside for a bunch of our 21’ kids.

    Carnie

    Fidone

    Bretz

    prochazka

    malcolm

    Grimes

    sleeper: Buford

  4. If they can’t beat us with Rondale Moore and David bell.  We should be fine going against the B side version of Rondale. Would be weird to see him go a bit closer to home and play in a not so pro style offense.

Horizontal passing game or running? Serious question, how many jet sweeps did Rondale actually break during his 2 years. He is huge weapon, and I have mentioned jets, but then as I sit back, I cant think if many he has produced....honestly, not a ton of bubble or tunnel screens either. He just seems to make plays by finding holes in zones downfield

Horizontal spread is run or pass.  Same concepts at times. He is not going to move safeties out of the box to respect downfield pass concepts. The key to a successful spread offense depends on all areas being threatened every play.  We don’t have a guy on our team to stretch it vertically.  Wandale can stress the LB and underneath coverage and run fits, but when it comes to the shell of good defenses he is not too big of a threat. Frost scheme does a great job of getting him in spots to be successful for what we have at the skill spots.

I’m not saying you’re wrong. But Frost has built his entire offense around spacing and tempo. Wandale was pretty much the only person in the offense spreading the field vertically or horizontally. Frost uses this spacing to set up his run game. In Frosts offense having Wandales is just as important as a competent OL.

    Horizontally yes.  Vertically not quite.

  7. Hope he stays.  If not oh well. Much bigger deal that CTB and other important defenders are back.

wandale is good but he is 5’6 and doesn’t have great too end speed. He is better as a component piece than the focal point of an offense.  He is not the best wr on any team in the west but us and maybe northwestern and wiscy. We will be fine if Omar is able to play and brown, Nixon and betts get going

I think Rambo wants to go where a QB can actually throw him the ball...

Like our QB could do when he had Stanley Morgan and JD Spielman.  I dont care how good you are, it is hard to fit the ball into our 5'5 Slot WR that has the whole focus of the defense.  Also, it is a little harder to throw the ball in a league that actually plays defense, so maybe he should stay in the big 12.

    LMFAO.

Imagine going back to yourself in 2016, and telling yourself that we'd be celebrating because we play Buffalo next year and we're really glad they are losing some offensive firepower so we feel good about winning it.

Imagine going back to 2016 and telling yourself that 5000 cardboard cutouts will fill memorial stadium as our Huskers face an 8 game schedule in 2020.

crazy stuff happens. This team Is close to turning the corner. Louisiana beat a New Years 6 Iowa state team by multiple scores.  It is not a huge deal to be concerned about mid major teams with nfl talent.

The portal is an ideal place to pick up a solid running back.....

Maybe.  But teams also lose marginal RB talent to the draft bc the clock is ticking for those guys. Most portal kids you will pick up are fcs or D2 kid.

Ya you all keep saying that about players and Nebraska still continues to be awful.  So everyone leaving always seems to supposedly make us better.

Bootle is better than Lamar Jackson. CTB is better than bootle. Regardless of who our DBs are, as long as Fisher is in charge of the room we will be fine.  Dude gets the most out of his room and players maximize the potential.

  12. Good call by bootle.  He is not going to improve his stock by adding another year.  He was the second best corner last year behind CTB.  I like him and he is going to get a look at the next level. Best of luck and thanks for the time.

Just play all the backups except on O-line and Wandale.  Play two back up safeties and one backup corner.  Lets see what happens

I like this strategy.  So when they get ejected for targeting, our starters can come in.  We should have been doing this all year.

We love to run this route combinations.  From several different formations.  And it's usually effective.

Love that route combo..  We ran the crap out of it in HS this year and was very successful.  Ohio State runs this very well, but it helps when you have 4 NFL WRs running it.

  15. Special teams play was really bad.  Blocked a punt. But after that big return.  Another return with 30 yards of penalties. Our punt blocked.

We have a RB named Cooper Jewett

    CTB is a dude

    pass rush is getting better

    AM is getting better.

we are close to being a pretty solid team. But we just can’t seem to find ways to finish teams.

AM first QB slide is at the worst moment ever.

    Huskera win. Cheers!!!

Here is the play I was talking about earlier.  Falk (I think) is WIDE open on the crossing route for what would have been a critical first down.  But it seemed like McCaffrey was locked in on his receiver the entire way because he is most decidedly not open.

He is probably reading man or zone Coverage.  If man you hit the mesh route with your crossers.  If zone you hit your sit route in the middle after they cross.  If he doesn’t get held it is probably a completion. We ran the crap out of this concept this year.

Just being honest: I doubt Mills shows that same patience and then cuts through that hole so hard. That's really a big thing we're lacking from our "every down back" player.

I think PSU might be a gap short on backside A that looks like a good option.  Once the playside LB commits he could stick that left foot and get vertical off of Juergens block.  He is almost too fast to read the zone blocks and cut off the heels of his line.  But it is 4th and 3 so I guess it is forgivable given the down and distance.

I heard last night that the Michigan Governor shut down all amateur athletics in Michigan.  Will that include the college level athletics?

I believe It does not include major colleges that have strict covid protocols in place

Nebraska is nowhere near good enough at running the football for their current approach to continue working. They have to go down the field at some point.

I agree, but with this style we can win games we should win.  We can beat minny, Illini and have Toss up games with Iowa and Purdue.   We could also adapt and build around what we do well.  Similar to having t-magic running the offense.
