  1. -Kade  warner is allergic to catching the ball in the end zone.

    - still don’t have killer instinct or have learned how to win games

    - disappointing at the RB spot.  Wandale can’t be our feature back for the year.  Need Mills to take that spot
    - Nelson was rough, that play by henrich that led to the big run was tough too.

+We are pretty one dimensional with LM at QB but we can be effective.

+Betts looks like he could grow into a big role as the year progresses.
+Defense is getting better.  Tacked in space, got some pressure, challenged wrs.
    +Domann, Robinson, Honas and secondary.
+ Beat a team with more talent than us and didn’t have to play perfect.
+MY BEER TASTE A LITTLE BETTER, AND MY HANGOVER WILL FEEL A LITTLE BETTER WITH A HUSKER W!!!!   GBR!!

I would be shocked if he signed with us

Come on.  He is a Florida guy, we know he will sign with us but transfer to a Florida school after a semester.  JK!

Excited for this guy.  Has the build of a pass rusher and is very twitchy.  Would really help our secondary out by getting a rusher of his caliber.

I'm sure Scott will have some fun wrinkles for Ohio State, but we should also prepare ourselves for hearty diet of bubble screens, seemingly practiced by every coach in football.

Bubble screens are awesome and a huge piece of the spread RPO game. Just like any play, when they are executed poorly they don’t work well.

If Jack Stoll was going out on a lot of routes last year and getting open, I missed it, because the pocket collapsed after about a second and a half on Martinez the majority of the time, IMO.

I'm fixated on how our tight ends play physical and block hard in the running game much more than on how they play as route runners, I guess.

But, Stoll is a pretty solid blocker.

He was not very good blocking on the perimeter.  We as a whole were pretty awful on the perimeter last year.

Remember how the Pelini and Riley staffs had such a hard time recruiting elite high school OT's? It doesn't seem to be a problem for this staff with Benhart, Corcoran and Teddy. If we are looking for signs that things are about to finally change this is one huge indicator, IMO.

Benhart: 65th Best Prospect in 2019 according to 247 (couldn't find his Rivals rank)

Corcoran: 64th Best Prospect in 2020 (Rivals Top 100 player)

Teddy: 64th Best Prospect in 2021 (Rivals Top 100 player)

We had Tyler Moore for a minute.  He was pretty highly ranked.  Other than that we were pretty average.  Nick Gates was a good OT but he was a transfer.

As a coach I say this all the time, tackling issues typically stem from athleticism issues.  ei, if you're behind on the play, you're not in position to make a solid tackle, & that presents as poor tackling.  It's not complicated, better athletes = better tackling.

Part of tackling is athletes.  The other is Knowing and trusting your fit.  Knowing the CB has outside leverage will help safeties and backers on tackle better on the perimeter.  Knowing your DE is going to spill a puller will help LBs flow and tackle better.

I remember in-game announcers saying the same thing about Nebraska's refusal to make defensive adjustments. They seemed genuinely mystified and were trying to be diplomatic. Former Huskers  tweeted the same thing. Opposing players, too. One quarterback said it was like playing a high school team, the offense felt like it could do whatever it wanted.

But for some reason we kept focusing our wrath on Tim Beck.

I think the high school defense quote was from brad kaaya when they played the Mark Banker soft quarters defense and played pitch and catch all night.

I think we have seen an uptick in recruiting on the O-line recently. Not only based on rankings but in body type (as mentioned above) as well. I think it will be interesting to see Corcoran's development and where he slots in this year and next. He is one of the highest rated recruits but he might be a better fit at guard then tackle (seemed to really thrive at guard in the all-star game). If he does get some pt this year I would anticipate it would be at guard. I project the line will look as follows:

    2020

    LT - Jaimes / Banks / Corcoran

LG - Wilson / Piper (Piper will get a few series a game)

    C - Jurgens / Farniok

RG - Farniok / Hixon or Nouili

    RT - Benhart / Gaylord

    2021

LT - Corcoran / Banks  / (Teddy will redshirt)

    LG - Piper / Lynn

    C - Jurgens / Farniok

    RG - Nouili / Hixson

    RT - Benhart / E. Miller

That is a good looking 20' and 21' group.  I could even see Corcoran sliding to guard to get Banks on the field.

We are getting killed in STL. Literally irrelevant.

It is hard to compete with the level of recruiting that goes on in HS for St. Louis, let alone What it takes to get those kids to attend college.  Aka $$, hiring HS coaches to program, etc.  The Lou is hard to get into.

The NCAA/Confs are no more prepared for this, than they were the day they cancelled the NCAA tournament/Conf Tournaments.  You'd think 5 months would have allowed for a consensus plan.

I think that is easy to place the blame there.  Our country is nowhere closer to handling this either.  The honest fact is You can’t safely play contact sports that go against every CDC guideline with 100 s of players while traveling all over the country.  It is just not feasible. These are billion dollar industries and I bet they have weighted every possible option. Just too much liability involved.

Collin Miller be much improved over Barry. Sorry to the Barry lovers. He was severely overrated

He has to show improvement to make that a true statement.  Miller was out of position often last season.  Last year they were all 3 pretty similar.

Hey I get that long jump is good indicator of athleticism. Another indicator is 247 composite ranking and that is a low 3 star .83. I understand rankings are probably more off this year than normal

I just feel like the last 15 years of sucking has been husker fans saying ooh he is a good wrestler, good at high jump- long jump- shot put. But just ok at football by the time they leave our program

The best recruiter, at the deepest position on our defense, really likes a kid that is really athletic.  I say I trust him over recruiting sites who have no idea this year how to rate kids.

Hopefully he is as good at football as he is at long jump.

Usually a pretty good indicator of athleticism.  If you look at the state finals podium for the last few years for Missouri long jump and it is littered with top line D1 football players.

    We are good at those.

I am on the prep school bandwagon for recruits we have gotten.  Casey Rogers, Alante brown, and now Buford.  Good place to find some underrated prospects.
