I am an IDIOT
I forgot KU....
I see CU= Champs
KU = Fort Worth

Here we are on Saturday night..... 11/26
This is the way I see it..... and I am pretty smart
Feel free to agree or disagree
With ISU losing, this helps NU
With Texas hopefully stomping CU next week, this helps NU
My opinion:
Texas = Rose
Tech = Cotton
OU = next in line....probably Alamo or Holiday
Here is where it gets interesting
CU would be next in pecking order, but they will probably be on a 3 game losing streak, and ahve classless fans who will not travel well after 3 losses.... NU probably ahead of them....
I think that NU and ISU would be next (not sure where MU is).....but NU beat ISU head-head and is coming off of win !!!!
This would make me think that:
NU = Alamo or Holiday....whichever doesn't have OU
ISU = Houston
MU = Independence
CU = Fort Worth or Champs
Am I missing anyone ?
Just heard on CBS that the announcers seem to believe that it is a good possibility that OU would play Florida in Independence Bowl....... unsure where this came from, but may be true..... This obviously would open Holiday/Alamo even more for the 'skers.

From reading the local papers today, it sounds to me that BC is starting to bleed Husker red.... he probably was all along, he just hadn't shown much emotion to prove it....
Everything is beginning to roll in the right direction

Okay, here is my take......please feel free to disagree
I would have been okay with ISU winning because the hated Buffs wouldn't get the North trophy..... BUT
1. Being from Iowa, I think it is funny as hell that ISU has pissed it down their legs 2 yrs in a row... Still not ready for "big time" clones
2. I am going to love seeing CU get HAMMERED in the Championship game, thus giving them a 3 game losing streak heading into bowl selection.
3. From reading the papers, I believe that an ISU loss actually helps NU in the bowl pecking order.... if I am right .... and who knows..... I see it like this
Texas = rose
Tech = Cotton
OU = Alamo / Holiday
CU would be 4th by record, but with a 3 game losing streak, classless fans, and the fact that NU just throttled them at home, would make me believe that CU would fall below NU
NU and ISU would be tied for the next best record (not sure were Mizzou is ), but NU would hold the tie breaker over ISU because we beat them head to head....
With NU's traveling tradition, this may mean that we go to the Holiday/Alamo bowl, whichever OU doesn't go to !!!!
Right or Wrong ?

IMO this game only effects those who may have CU and NU high on their lists. I don't think anyone who has removed NU from consideration will automatically add them back on.
I would probably say that this game HURT Colorado's recruiting, MORE than it HELPED Nebraska's.
But, a convincing win on National tv surely won't hurt recruiting at all !!!!

UT looks LOST against the option here folkes!
The option A&M is running is totally different then what Nebraska ran. I wouldn't mind seeing the spread option come to Lincoln but the option of the past is dead.
Not so fast my friend.
The option that AM was using a lot was the counter option, which Gill made famous way back when ......
Another option that AM used a bunch was the wingback option, which TO, Frost, and Wiggins introduced to Tennessee in '97 .....
I agree that I would like to see some form of the Spread option and I think that it would fit nicely into the WCO scheme of things....maybe if we ever get another duel QB, it may become another weapon...
With that said, I am not suggesting that I want the offense of old, because I am not. It is just fun to watch when it is clicking.....but so is our new scheme when everything clicks.....
The 'skers are makin' progress !!!!!
Critics can shut the he!! up.

I honestly do not see NU going to the INdependence Bowl.
Nebraska hasn't traveled well to Shereveport, and they likely will not again.
NU shouldn't want to go to the Independence....... we need to play in Florida (Champs), Texas (Houston or Alamo), or California (Holiday) for recruiting purposes.
I know that the Alamo and HOliday are long shots, but can NU turn down the higher rated Independence and choose to accept a lower level bowl such as the Champs?
The players and fans would rather be in Orlando, instead of Shereveport

No complaining HERE !!! I have not been happy, just like the rest of you, but just like many, I have been stressing be patient with the youth......
This may be the biggest win for this program in 2-3 years.. on national TV, we dominate on the road, and look good doing it..... This could propel recruiting, and the confidence of this team..
I am extremely proud of these guys, coaches, and Husker fans !!!!
-
I know it is early in the game, and I think that I would honestly like to see Texas win the game.. I believe that the horns are the only team out there that can beat USC..
Anyone watching this game.... man, Franchionne's offense is a lot of fun to watch... This is the type of offensive football scheme that I truly enjoy... Today, this team can run the ball with old-style option, West-coast option from shot-gun, pass the ball to TE from regular set, or spread the field with a run/throw option.
Damn, it is refreshing to watch a team be versatile..... Last night, some announcer druing one of the games on Thanksgiving stated that the day of the dropback passer is dead !!!!! You need a QB that can run-pass in order to survive at the top... Man , I hope Freeman can run !!!!
-
Thank you for the update Hootin' !!
Keep the information coming. Man, I hope we can land a few more 4-5 star kids... I like the early "game-day" visits, but sometimes, the excitement fades as the season goes on. If a kids "last" visit goes well, it sometimes is the most fresh in his memory....especially if NU's season didn't goe extremely well.

2nd p.s. mill north players currently playing d1 football: shada & olsen (ia), galusha (co st), mccardle & rooker (ksu), behrens (co), o'leary (UN - long snapper), - plus, tarpinian (verballed to ia) & young & homer will play d1
With these guys currently playing D1 and a few of them are pretty darn good....
Makes me wonder if Coach Petito isn't a Callahan fan...... I'm not postive, but has Callahan been able to get a solid "Millard North"guy? I know he has only had two years, but you think that with the history of "North" guys at NU, that the recent cold spell could mean that Petito could not be a Callahan guy.
On the other hand, being a coach myself, I would hope that Petito would not try to influence the kids at all.. Just leave it up to the kids.

I will honestly be very surpised if Young comes to NU. If he really wanted to be a 'sker, he would have committed by now.
Petito (HS coach), said in the paper the other day, that if Iowa offers that he would not be surprised if Young headed to Iowa City.... he also added that if Iowa didn't offer, he wouldn't be surprised if Young "didn't head another direction".
I am not sure I like the phrase "another direction". Sounds to me, that it could possibly be ISU or CSU....
He may just be an in-state guy, who just doesn't like the direction the program is heading.... and this is very unsettling !!! If "in-state" guys begin to feel this way, it makes me wonder if we can continue to get the studs from other states.

NU = 27
CU = 20
Rush = 86
Pass = 245
It is ver obvious that I am thinkin with my heart , and not my mind

Right now TCU would concern me..... I am really hoping for Georgia Tech or Clemson in the Champs Bowl....
We would get to the Florida recruits, it would be a winnable game, nationally televised, and a good "reward" for the players..... Remember, these hot-shot freshmen didn't sign on to spend the Holidays in Shereveport or Houston..... they want Florida !!!!!
The negative of FSU is the fact that if you get hammered...... just gives recruits one more reason to choose schools like FSU over NU , along with the weather, scenary, etc.....
-
They need to find a 1A "patsie" to beat on so it will count.... IMO, scheduling 2 1AA would be a huge mistake
IMO scheduling 1A "patsie" teams is no way to bring Nebraska back onto the CFB map.
I say we play Alabama or Oregon. Both of those teams have regained recognition and would be a challenge for the Huskers.
Challenges, early in the season, help define the team and build on strengths early.
Besides, I think either of those teams would be a thrill to watch head to head against NU.
I don't disagree with you, but Alabama and Oregon is not really realistic.... NU is not interested in scheduling a "home-home" with any big school at this time... They want a home game for REVENUE......
I would love to see schools like that, but reality says that NU will schedule teams who do not expect a return visit....
I do disagree in the sense that NU will only regain power by playing big names.... This team needs to get to BOWLS, and post winning records, and possibly get ranked which come with solid records..... At this time, this team is not strong enough to schedule an Alabama-Oregon along with the Big 12 and maintain a winning record....thus, a continue decline in recruiting !!!!!
Remember, what fans want, is not always "best" for the university.
-
I believe that this team will get better next year, but I am not sure that this team, with the schedule already in place, may not be capable of winning 7 games that would be needed to go to a bowl next season...
I would be scared to death to have two 1AA teams on the schedule.... I think that you are flitrting with not being bowl eligilble next season !!!!!
They need to find a 1A "patsie" to beat on so it will count.... IMO, scheduling 2 1AA would be a huge mistake

Thanks for everything you do !!!!
God Bless !!
Here's to your safe return !!!!

Anyone watch My Name is Earl? That show cracks me up every week.
This is one of the very few shows that I actually plan my evening around.
I laugh my ass off during most shows....... I missed it tonight though
But I also think "Dumb and Dumber" and "The Jerk" are CLASSICS !!!!

Just wanted to put in my two-cents worth.
Thanks to the people who make this board possible and the fact that it is ran so smoothly and with class..... You guys are awesome !!!
Thanks for the opportunity to discuss, debate and enjoy the great tradition and the unknown future of the Best Program in college football history !

Just browsing a few sites.... looking at Bowl predictions....here are a few
CBSsportsline = Champs Bowl vs Clemson
FoxSports = Champs Bowl vs FSU
Stuart Mandel (SI) = Champs Bowl vs Georgia Tech
Collegefb.com = Champs Bowl vs FSU
MSNBC.com = Champs Bowl vs Georgia Tech
If your counting.... 5 sites and 5 Champs bowls
2 x FSU not good
2 x Georgia Tech not a bad match up
1 x Clemson not a bad match up
**Just a side note: On MSNBC.com the writer made the following statement: "Georgia Tech looking to repeat as Champs Bowl champion, as Champs Bowl likely NOT ENOUGH TO SAVE CALLAHAN'S JOB IN 'HUSKER COUNTRY" Does this guy know something we don't ???
I don't agree.... and that is for another thread... I just thought it was interesting

I have been on different sites looking at bowl projections and I have seen Champs Sports vs anyone from FSU, Georgia Tech, and NC State.
Also have seen Houston Bowl, but I can't remember the possible opponent. I have heard "Houston" as an opponent early in the process, but lately, I have seen Houston going to other bowls..... The Houston Bowl may want an outside team to bring in tourist and Hotel revenue....
I agree,.... I wouldn't want to play Houston at home, or FSU at Home....

It seems like we share a fairly close opinion on bowl match ups.
I'm not sure if Iowa State will go to the Independence bowl though. They have been there 2 of the last 3 years and are about as excited to go back as Nebraska.
I know that ISU can't "select" which bowl, but I think that the Independence Bowl will realize that ISU fans probably not travel well back for the 3rd time, so I see them working a deal with the Houston sending CU to Shreveport and ISU to Houston.....
Once again, I heard something on tv concerning OU vs Florida in the Independence Bowl ????
